Last month, we released the first of these guest spots on the Double Blessing of Adoption and I have received a lot of positive feedback from it.

In the 80’s, Crosby, Stills and Nash recorded a song titled “Southern Cross” and part of the lyrics read, 

“When you see the Southern Cross for the first time
 You understand now why you came this way”

In the 1990’s, I was in South Africa where I had met some wonderful people who ran an orphanage.  One little guy in particular, named Derrick, endeared himself to me.  Derrick would follow me everywhere.  

One evening, we were visiting and I had wondered into the back yard to try to find the Southern Cross and had laid down on the lawn to look.  In a few minutes, my shadow, Derrick, walked over, laid down in the grass beside me and asked what I was doing.  That evening, an 8 year old orphan showed ME the Southern Cross for the first time, and today, I understand why I came this way…
