The Single Most Important Bill for When Republicans Control the House | Guest; Rep. Thomas Massie | 8/2/22

About this episode

If you could only pass one bill, what would it be? Well, today we are joined by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) who makes the case that the repeal of the Prep Act might be the most important candidate. He explains how the Prep Act is responsible for absolving the entire health care industry of liability for any treatment, lack of treatment, vaccines, testing, or malpractice performed in the wake of a pandemic. This includes both hospitals and nursing homes. It essentially creates medical martial law. He notes how a repeal of PREP must strategically be placed as a rider in a budget bill and that Republicans should pass each of the 12 appropriations bills separately to maximize their leverage. I also call on Republicans to block the upcoming budget bill as leverage against the reconciliation "Build Back Better" bill. Will they do it? No, unless we raise our voices.
