No success found in Darwin or Jolong. What needs to change and will our luck shift on the West Coast? This is the sash women's most definitely not the official podcast of the Eastern Football Clubs. Women's side. I'm Courtney as always and I'm with Jordy and Ari. How are we fellas? How you feeling Jordy? Rotten. Absolutely. You were really running over, didn't it? Yeah, yeah. Got the old seven day flu. Oh, no. Did you get your flu shot this year? No. No, no. I've had the flu twice as well. So there might be some correlation. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. Sorry. Poor chalk. Man flu. Man flu. Yeah, we'll call that one. No, to be fair, my fiance got it as well, but she's about three days. Okay. I think I think my- How's Roode doing? You're fianceing. Yes. Now she's alright. So you're a spreader. That's what you're saying. Yep. I gave it to her and I've still got it longer than her. Oh, well. Poor thing. What have you been watching though? Have you been watching anything? I've been watching anything. You've been watching anything? The US opens up pretty handy. Okay.
Yeah. The last time I was crook actually was during the menswear cup. So I'm very convened. I'm kind of like the time is a little bit. I've been watching any of the cricket like. Yeah. I like that. Yeah, the first test match. I can predict where you might get sick again. Sounds like. We'll see. How are you, Ari? Yeah, good. That's good. What's the sport on which is nice? Yeah. I was watching The Wallerweets a couple of weeks. Which I do like, although I'm not like a something I watch religiously. Okay. But I can't stand the bloody commentator on a stand for the rugby. It's like, I don't know. I grew up with maybe, because I grew up like listening to this. It's like cycling if you ever watch it to the front. Right. It's like, there's a voice of it. Yeah. That's what cycling sort of sound like. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The voice of cycling. And it's like, I don't know. Right. And it's like, it just grinds my gears. It's like his pronunciation of stuff and like where he, his tone goes.
Anyway, I just, it's like, it ruins it. No, it's Australian. But it's like, if it was... That's the only explanation here. No, it's like, if they, if they play like a way in like the UK or the island and there's like, you get the British commentators, it's like, perfect. Yeah. Well, the Irish commentators, right. It's like, it's just this Australian guy that I can't stand. Okay. We're on that. Yeah. It's like, it's like a bit sort of areas. Right. Okay. Yeah. It's very annoying. Well, I spent my weekend in beautiful Griffith for the one night stand for work. Oh, let me. Which was great. It was so much fun. A big Italian population up there, which was fascinating. And Griffith. Yeah. It's random. Apparently it's like 25% of the population's like, has Italian heritage. No, why? I don't know. I don't know. So some industry there? Yeah. There must be some industry out there at some point in time. But it means that there's really good food out there, which is nice. It was the pick of acts. It was Nina Geraci had lined and then DMA's Genesis, we sue my Betty raise and then a
local artist called Young Brothers and Indigenous artists were actually when. Yeah, it was great. It was so much fun. I was like looking around because it's struggling alcohol phrase. So like people were like bringing their families and like little kids and stuff. And I was just like looking around thinking like, man, there's so many kids here that are like forming core memories. Like they'll be talking about this when they're older. How do they police that? What do you mean? The drug and alcohol for Ethan? It's mostly just like, well, there's no bars there, right? So you can't be YO, but like people brought stuff in probably. But I may have had a bottle of orange juice eight years ago. No, but I mean, like I've been telling my boss it's fun. Yeah, I've been to plenty of festivals that like there was no, yeah, like everyone had to bring everything from it. There's no serving of alcohol. Yeah. But it's like, I'm like, yeah, they check your car. Curse really. Yeah. Yeah, I go to festivals like this one, but they also have bars and stuff. But yeah, this one just doesn't have a bar. It's all ages. So it's like just like licensing wise.
And it was really nice actually. It was like I quite enjoyed like overnight, like usually when the sun goes down, it's like all the real like drunk remnants come out of it. It's awesome stuff. And it was nice kind of looking around being like, oh, I'm not surrounded by like really sloppy drunk people. Yeah. A drunk Gremlin did break my sisters nose during Cosby sweater at the night stand once. Was that just one of the hilt upwards? No, I mean, it was dress like it and I'm sure he wanted to be. Yeah. No. Well, that's a shame. I can help. But yeah, it was great. Lovely weekend away in the country. So baby emus on the drive. They're very cute. They have very cute. They run after the mum like little ducks. Yeah, it's really cute. And I stopped at the big strawberry. And yeah, it's about it. Big strawberry. Yeah. Big. Well, shall we look at the lot? I mean, I feel like we're just avoiding the conversation in the last two weeks. So we are two losses on the trot. So round three, Richmond 5, 838, defeated Estonin 4, 933, defeat by five points.
They went to that was so devastating. Yeah. Right at the end, you know, yeah, just tough. Just a tough game to watch. Yeah, I left that game actually strangely like zen about the whole thing because I was like, for once I was like, I feel like everything was right. We just didn't kick straight. Yeah. We just like didn't finish it in a. Yeah. Shoot me in a by five and a half time. Yeah. Yeah. Even even late in the game, like we had chances to nail that down and we didn't. Yeah. Yeah. I think they played well a bit better in the heat as well. Like it was only about 28 degrees. The whole game, which is, you know, not as hectic as previous years, but still a lot more than what it is here. That little like AC room is the strangest. The little like like. Like, I mean, I used to do that when I worked in bottle shops, so I get it.
It looks like there's like a steam room on the side of the room. It's really, it's really straight. The opposite of the room. Yeah, exactly. Did also notice that the game, the umpiring in that game was fucking shocking. The lot, I mean, like this is a constant. Yeah. Yeah. That one was like quite, like I feel like in that one, it was like quite a gracious. Yeah. Like, you know, there should have been a free kick deep enough forward 50 for Bonnie that would have clinched the game for us. You know, calling holding the ball game and then suddenly not in the final quarter, like, just like the inconsistencies. Holding the ball is like a real problem. Yeah. Like, it's just no consistency with it. Yeah. And yeah, I feel like that's like that in most games. It's like, it starts off really overly efficient. It's like, like, if you get the ball and it's not a clear hand pass or whatever, it's holding the ball with it. And then later in the game, they give them a bit more grace like a men's game would be. Yeah.
But yeah, I don't like, I don't know. I feel like we would hear every year with the W that the umpiring is just not on the level. It's just not up to scratch. Yeah. I did see that Kate McCarthy put out a piece yesterday about kind of like how players need to improve their kind of footy IQ and knowledge of the games rules as well. It's because she's noticing a lot of things that like aren't being called, but also like the players aren't pushing for things to be called as well instead just kind of letting things go. And that's like, doesn't help with the rules seem to change every year. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. It's a bit tough. Um, so yeah, it's just wasn't, it was a bit tough to watch that one, I think, and yeah. Um, you know, the time in front stats, I think, really hurt as well looking at that. We were, you know, in front, uh, for more than an hour and Richmond only had about eight minutes in front and still going to win the game. So, um, we'll better in every statistical measure.
Um, yeah, it's just the kicking again. I mean, we'll get out to the long game as well, but it would mean a lot tighter had we eaten our dinner. Um, this is a frustrating to see. But it was also like, I remember a couple of weeks ago, we were speaking about a few things like, Conti, Womorins, Griser, and, yeah, and we got beaten by the things that we listed out like, yeah, yeah. Yeah. We got on top of it. We came out of that with 10 coaches, both. Yeah. Yeah. Get a rip of day. Absolutely dominated. Um, well, actually, just, just, but we go on, I think I think that the Mon Conti thing, we all, we talked about a pretty richman game, but I think what happened in the Jolong game speaks to what happened in the Richmond game. And it's what they did about Georgie Prisbarkis. Yeah. True. And that seemed to actually really work. Yeah. It made a difference. Yeah. And yeah, definitely like, yeah, coming into round four, yeah, it was a loss and, you know, they defeated us 83 to 51. Um, but I think we came out like with really hard pressure the whole time, really forcing
the contest and stoppages, but just ultimately pretty unlucky at it. I'm not necessarily like upset with our performance. Like it was, I think we've like played quite well. It was just, they just kept getting it. Like I think the only thing that we could, they kind of dominated on us. Us on was inside 50s. Yeah. I feel like I think who she had an amazing game. She played hard tag. Yeah. Hard tag on George Prisbarkis. Yeah. The most ball she's ever gotten again by far. And obviously she's, I don't think she's ever played on the ball before. Nevermind like a hard tag and managed to really blunt Joe G's. Yeah. Like, George still, you know, racks up possession stuff, but just know when he is. Yeah. Um, an impact on the game as she usually does. Yeah. I thought that was a great move. I wonder why we don't do this sort of thing more often. Well, like not necessarily hard tags, but just like throwing the magma surround a little bit for a team that's developing and not winning anyway, you know, try some stuff.
Yeah. A couple of little moves in the Jolong game that I thought were okay. Like, Cain seemed to be behind the ball a little bit more, which was nice because obviously that sort of the legs are a little bit done. Like, hasn't got the sort of power and speed in the midfield that she did once have. Isn't getting quite the ball that she used to get. Yeah. So having a bit of structure and leadership experience down there is quite good. So that was another little magnet shifts I quite liked. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I think that that quite works. I liked Maggie Johnson playing more. Yeah. How are you going to see what a play it should like that clunk. She took like not many plays, especially like, especially plays that aren't like key forwards, have hands like that. That was like, do you remember like year one page got just the marks like an frequent like oh, like this is something. Yeah. And then it kind of just never really went anywhere after that. But you could just see like she's going to be some sort of player. And I just like her being around the ball.
Bodywork at stoppage is really good. Yeah. So strong. Holds their space nicely, pushes off. Yeah. Like, absolute textbook center, center clear has been filled. Yeah. Speaking of, well, she really dominated and the rocking as well with 32 hit outs. And I think that's her really coming back into form. She's had a couple of weeks where she's been kind of run over by the other rock. But yeah, it's great to see her kind of come back into it as well. There was a very unfortunate little period of time just before the second half where I kind of even remember the name of the Jolong rock, but didn't even didn't win the tap. But herself got two clearances and kicks inside 50. I think of one or two of them led to goals, which is like you're not really Steph, Steph Wales is a shoe. But I mean, it was just like the game is so good outside of this little five minute section. They seem to dominate from center bounce inside that small period where they kicked four goals or so just before I went. Oh, you went Maloney, just like what nuts? Yeah. The bass is the ball in that five minutes as well. Like crazy.
I was like, oh my God. I think that probably says more about defensive weaknesses. Yeah. There was no one defensive side of that stoppage. Like they had three players streaming out of midfield with no one between them in the four to 50. Yeah. That like we, you know, when we win clearance, we're good going forward. We're good turning that into inside 50s and stuff. Our problem is we just can't be having got it. We don't have defensive structure. We don't have the sort of personnel in the back line to really, I mean, like a who, like, I don't, it's hard, right? I thought Georgia Clark had a really, really good game. Yeah. And she's sort of playing the Maggie, the Maggie Gay role of being like the third and intercepting and all that and she's did a great job. But it's like if you're not going to then have Zoe Prous play on Maloney, we're going to get burnt. Every time they get good ball, Maloney's going to burn you. Yeah. And it's like, I mainly see this as a recruitment problem.
Like this is, we're not turning over the list enough every year. Like there are, like Georgia Clark, we got, she was delisted by it so long. Sort of these players are out there that for whatever reason, don't have a position in another club. Yeah. And are like really good talents who look great skills and great reading of the game and all the kind of thing. They're out there. You can go and get them for nothing. We got her for nothing. Like do that. Take some risks every year. You know, if you're a top four team, okay, you're not in that zone. Like where we are, you know, do list four people every year, go and try to two puns and see if they are at the level because we just got players that like, haven't got it. Yeah. Yeah. There's a handful that aren't certainly up premiership players, but probably also aren't top six top eight players realistically. And the injury list is actually looking okay at the moment. So yeah, I was just looking at, because it just came out in the softening and it's
looking like, I mean, Nalu had a bit of an injury in the game, but she's just up for a test. Yeah. Low level, ankle, spring, and then I said, yeah. No, great. I saw that Zoe Pruss was like marked as injured in the game, but it must have been like pretty, you know, nothing because she's not even on the list. So Felixander is up for a test for this week, which is great. Emilia Radford has got a couple of weeks left on her ACL. Maddie Gays at three weeks for her shoulder. So it's nice to see that she's not a TBC and there's been a time like that. The end of the onsite, I guess, is that an image in the name has aggravated her Lombard disc recently. So she's been put up a little bit to six to seven weeks. So I reckon that's probably her done for the season. Yeah, that's frustrating. Yeah. It is. Yeah, I really would have loved to see her get a run. There's no mention of Bannister on that list.
Was there? No. I mean, I haven't seen anything about Bannister in the last two weeks. She must be fit. Well, yeah, and she's not like to see. She's not being selected. It wasn't an emergency, even like you said, yeah. Well, we've got the squad for the cat's clash this weekend. And yeah, she definitely wasn't an emergency either. So I've never seen an emergency. So we've got best on the emergencies. I remember seeing the emergency list. We had Madison Iper him. I went back to the previous injury lists to see if you know, it was still down as one week, but yeah, nothing. No mention of it. No, like in that sort of written spiel they do with the use of something. Yeah, there's nothing in there. So it's a mystery. She must be fit. I mean, like I can kind of understand what the book I like, I forwardline is kind of functioning. Yeah. We should speak about Goffey by the way. Oh, we absolutely should speak about Goffey if we're talking about our forwards. Yeah, but like I thought Bonnie and Goffey had great games and it kind of really worked the tandem one up one back and they're both taking the arcs and doing their thing.
So it could be that they're just there. It like just isn't a position. I would still have her in there. Yeah. Because I think that she can play small as a good place for. Yeah. Yeah. We've got Goffey, George G, Bellany, Too Good and so far, Exander, half forward. Yeah. I mean, this is a constant bugbed, the ruck thing, right? It's like, you have a list of 30. Actually, we should talk about the fact that we've been sneaky and now we've got 31. But you know, theoretically you have a list of 30. You can't have what is essentially three rucks on the list. No. It's just a waste of a list spot, right? Yeah. Now, they're trying to turn dark into a center half back. She's not going to have center half back. You know, she's a chop out rock. Yeah. And that's fine. And I can see the value of having her on the list. But then you don't need Murphy, right? Yeah. Or if you want a full ruck like Murphy to come in if Steph Wales gets injured, then you
don't need to die. And I think Alexander serves the same pitch. She's in the team to take some of the ruck duty because like I forwards a ticking now. I don't mind so far, Alexander being on the list because I think we said this even last year. She is if she was like a 26 player and she was the one to come in if someone got injured, I would be like fantastic. That's great. We got some management. Yeah. But the fact that she plays every week is like, what are we doing here? You know what I mean? Yeah. She's playing every week. It's because whoever's played 27, 28 and 29 aren't good enough to play. If they're not good enough to play, then why are they on the list? Yeah. What are we doing? Yeah. I kind of think our forward lines also a touch to toll. Anyway, like we haven't really got, they haven't really got any out and out small roving, goal kicking, small forward. Like we haven't got a year's to year. We haven't got anything like that. No. We haven't got any forward line with the three keys, Bonnie, Gough, Alexander.
Then you got Beliny who's pretty big. You've got Johnson down there who's also pretty big and definitely not a forward. I guess, Nalu. Yeah, kind of hybrid, I guess. Yeah. But yeah, I want to see like the men had this issue at the start of the year as well when they weren't playing. When Kakko was injured and they weren't playing Unwin, they weren't playing Gratio, they weren't playing Alachka. We were just huge and just the ball go in, come to ground, straight back out. Yeah, I think, actually we should speak about Jake, because I thought she had a great game as well. Yeah. Her best game for the year, definitely. Yeah. But yeah, I get like, there's a slight, the Bellany thing is a slight problem. It's like, Bellany has to play. Yeah. And, you know, is there room for Bellany and Johnson to be playing full-time in field, probably not? No. The game has to sit forward and that takes a spot. But like you want them playing, you want to get games in them now.
And then I guess it's the same thing, Brothwell should, you know, if she's playing well, she stays in the team. We've got Sophie Strong, who hasn't played yet this year, who played quite a bit last year as a sort of smallish forward. And yeah, George G, obviously, we was going to play it. But yeah, it's like. I'd like to see Adams down there. Give her a crack because she's good in tight spaces. She's strong, she's nuggedy. Yeah. She wouldn't happen. I just don't know if she has the goals, potentially not. Yeah. But even if it's just someone to like, get crumbs and give a hands. Yeah. What I did actually, in that sort of first half of the Richmond game, it seemed like press barcos was resting down there a bit more than usual. And she bobbed up those two goals. So maybe you just swing Maddie down a bit more often and then you have a space in the midfield for Johnson and Bell and you'd have a bit more of a crack out. I actually wouldn't mind them shifting Nance Gorn. Nance Gorn, yeah. That would be interesting. Something's going to be done. Yeah, because she's like her roving is second to none. Like I'm a bank on her winning the ball.
It's like, yeah, Adams can do that kind of thing, but not on Nance Gorn's level, right? Oh, no. Yeah. And so I think she could be a really handy small forward. And I don't think she was like really contributing a lot in the midfield. No, she hasn't been herself. Yeah. And it's like, when now we've got some young players who are really showing stuff like I've said, Maddie pays having a great year. Gailo's having a really good year. They're both full-timeids. And then you've got Johnson and you want to get Bell and E some time in there as well. Yeah. It's like there probably is room to take Georgia out. Yeah. And try something else. And I guess she's going to be in there a little bit more. Well, yeah, I mean, like after that performance. Yeah. I mean, I don't see why I wouldn't just stick around the best mid from here on out. She's just on the tag all the time. Because it's kind of what she does anyway. Like she swings from forward to back quite a bit. But it's always as a defensive forward or just a lockdown kind of half back. So I mean, she's got those skills already. So yeah, have a crack. See, because we've got some midfielders coming up next week that are dangerous.
So yeah. Like, what impressed me so much about it was like, like, I knew like, her athletic ability was really good. Like, I felt like she could go with the Georgie prisparkas and not like, you know, be burnt by the at-stoppage. But what was it like? I've never seen her like ball getting ability. Like she got like 22 touches or something like that. Yeah. Like that's crazy. Yeah. I think it was like 10 half way through the second quarter. Yeah. Yeah. Like every, like basically every clearance we got was her getting first hands. And I was like, that's not something I've seen out of there before. Yeah. Just emerged out of nowhere. Yeah, exactly. And it's great. Yeah. Yeah, it's really good. So good. Yeah, like you say, Guffy had a really good day in front of goals. You said a debut goal from Nully Brothwell, which was very lovely. Before she fucked her ankle. Good over there. I loved, by the way, when every time Guffy lined up for one of those shots from the pocket, like that, we just like, no chance. Like, yeah, why do they pass to her in the pocket? Yeah. She's going to have to really bend this one.
And then the next time they're like, oh, she's not going to do that again. It's like exactly the same. Yeah. Absolutely definition of a dog just starts to lift her, fades it through. Really fade on it. Beautiful. And just before we move off Guffy, her hands are so good too. Not so good. Yeah, like it was really sticking in against the cats in particular. Yeah. There was one moment where she's just like hold her space behind her man, let back on it, got two hands to her and it's absolutely stuck in. Oh, that's great. There were players in this team who, if I was coaching them during the off season, I would just kick balls up in the air at them and just say, just mark these balls over and over and over again and get the technique right. Because you can see, broth well, Johnson, golf, Bonnie, like the difference between them and some of our other players, like they just clunk at Georgia Clark as well, clunk everything. And it's like, it's a technique thing. It's like these other players are going up with their hands straight up in the air with no give. Yeah.
So the ball just bounces straight off their hands. It's like, no, hinged, hinged. You need to have the suspension. She your body up, hands him. On the W, you've got to get your W up in the sky so you don't ping your fingers. Yeah, so after going for a zero four for the start of the season, like at what point should we think that that would should start to worry about her spot as coach? You know, does she have the humility or resolution to accept that whatever she's trying to implement with structures and squad like clearly isn't working? You know, can she accept that or and change approach or is it should we be looking at like, you know, contracts ending up at the end of this year? Thanks, please move along. My view is probably a little bit different to hers because I mean, I was listening to her post-mast press conference and she quite rightly said that there have been things this year that the team has gotten a lot better at from last year in particular.
And we've spoken about this before, the forwards set up the forward structure and things that were all much, much, much, much better. And yeah, she was very positive about how far we've come this year. But I mean, on the same, you know, on the same side, on the other side of the coin, the four lines got better, but we haven't got better in a lot of other ways. Yeah, exactly. Like we're still trying to. The four line can be great, but if we can't get the bolder, the forward line, then what are we doing? Yeah, like with all due respect, we shouldn't be losing the regiment. We shouldn't be, we shouldn't be getting dealt with by a long, quite so comfortably. You know, it wasn't that long ago, we're on the same level as them and I know things haven't progressed quite like they should have. Yeah. We've sort of been a steady decline a little bit since our second year. First year is kind of a free hit, but even then we're putting it bit of performances. Yeah, we had six wins across in our first three seasons. I think something like that. And now four from last year for four wins last year, haven't got to win this year.
Percentage is down. Yeah, 60 percent across two years is pretty poor. Yeah, it's rough. And last year, we had all those injuries and things this year hasn't quite been the same though. Yeah, yeah, it's like what's the big success? Yeah, losing Maddie Gays obviously awful, but we didn't have Maddie Gays for a period last year as well as Bonnie. Yeah. Chris Parker's Mr. Bitt, you know, I don't know. I'm kind of on the fence. I would say, see how the year plays out. Yeah. Don't give out an extension just yet, but also I wouldn't be pulling the pin out of the season just because given the contract is up. Yeah, true. Yeah, I don't think I definitely don't think there's any reason to like sack it before the end of the season. That's for sure. It's really hard. I think how much of this is list management, how much of this is coaching? Yeah. Right? Is our problem of not being able to like losing a clearance because you're not going to win every clearance, losing a clearance and then just being absolutely torched. How much is it that we don't have the athletic capability in our midfield to go with spreading
midfielders and how much is it that we don't have defenders that are able to go with powerful fast forwards, especially tall ones. And then if it is this management, how much of that is the coach has fought? Like how much of a say in this management does she have? How much of a say does she have in only taking two plays at the draft last year and one trade, three team that struggled terribly last year? Yeah, we've got some wins and whatever. But like, yeah, we're also putting our runner out as a fucking player. Yeah. And then we're putting our win. It's because Maddie and Georgia and Bonnie go on a tear and just rip the game apart or Maddie Gay. Yeah. And they just completely dominate the game and Maddie Gay is marking everything that anyone kicks into a backline and Bonnie is marking everything up forward. And they are players of that level that can have that kind of impact on a game. But yeah. Like, if they don't, which they're not going to every game, like just completely run it,
then there's not a lot underneath it. And we're starting to with the kids now that we've got some kids that really have that promise. But yeah, like if she does have a significant say in this management, then I think she definitely has to go because it's been a failure. Yeah. With other teams that were worse than us and came into the league at the same time of us have shot way past us. Yeah. And I think some of game plans to I think she's right about the forward line stuff. Now, how much is her and how much has been brown? Who knows? But like that forward line is much more functional than has been in a while. Yeah. And also the connection, the midfield forward connection bit of it. You know, I mean, like for years, we were like lamenting the fact that we just no one's leading to the right spot. No one's kicking to the right spot. We don't ever hit anyone on it. You know, it's always just a scramble. Yeah. Like there is real structure there now. But I set it up. And I say, isn't I want to see what we're trying to do?
Mm-hmm. And I see some bits of it like that forwards off. I also see like when we get out different like when when we have that ball locked in our 50, but like, Jolong has the ball. If we're set up well, we're really hard to get past. Yeah. We set up the world. We take a lot of intercept marks outside 50, right? Yeah. But when we're not set up, they just switch and gone. And we're down the other end of the scoring, right? Yeah. So it's like it's a hard. It's a discipline. Yeah, it's like that's being a young team and a whatever team, you know, that's not necessarily coaches, but that's also not the entire game. Start, right? It's not all about intercepting when they've got the ball. Like you've got to be able to the spreading from that's a thing. Anytime we come up against a good team, what happens if they get the handball out, they're gone. Exactly. We have got everyone's honey potted. Yeah. That's coaching as well. You have to be able to coach that out of your team or get the right players in there.
Yeah. Get some players to tell everyone else to fuck off the way. Yeah. That gets some players that have some speed that don't want to go and get the ball like a sociovar to you or someone like that. Yeah. Who's not going to go in to try and win the ball is just going to wait on the outside. And it's probably quick enough to catch a Erica O'Shea or whoever's got the ball on the outside. That's coaching and we consistently fuck that up. My other question is, is the fixture the issue here for this year, especially? You know, we've got four straight weeks of away games. We've only had one home game this year so far. This week, I mean, this week just past sure it was in with indiscence of Melbourne, but like who really wants to go down to the fucking the catty? Like should the league be making sure the teams are kind of having adequate home games to maintain that support-a-pace presence? It seems a bit stiff that the teams had to be away from home so much and playing largely in front of opposition sides and crowds and not getting the win like it. It'd be hard to go back and know that, oh shit, now we have to go to Frio where there's
not going to be any of our support-a-bases there, really. I think it's also like, it's psychologically kind of fucks you as well. So it's like, well, what are we doing this for? Our season does open up. Second half, we have like four or five games at Windy Hill against not as good opposition. But by that point, we're probably going to be 0 and 5 in the seasons down. That's the thing in seasons over. So does it matter if we're going to back up winds with against the suns and west coast at Marvel and Windy Hill? I saw someone saying that the VFL prelim should be at Marvel. I'm like, before the... No. Don't open the camera. We got some easy games at Windy Hill coming up, but we're done by that point. So who gives a shit? We're going to be 0 and 6. No one's going to rock up. And if the ball is winning that prelim on the VFL on the weekend, obviously it's just complete chance, but that grand final is the exact same time as the first game back at Windy Hill. So there's going to be about 35 people there.
Oh my god, what? This is keep happening. It's hard, right? It's a really shit situation. I feel like dream time is a problem because you can't play it later. No. You can't play it around 7 round 8. Yeah. So it's got to be at the start. Yeah. And then it's like at the draw with all this double head of stuff that's going to be happening in the first few rounds of the season. Yeah. But like if that rolls the wrong way for you to fix your eyes and you have to go play in Sydney where otherwise that would be a Melbourne. Yeah. Whatever. The you like the draw could get a situation where you know, one of your only home games is now a Darwin game and your interstate. You know, it's just like I think the W having a feature that's like so such a movable feast and depends on like all these other factors about stadiums and you know, one off
games and more than ball and whatever. Like unlikely we get that same situation next year and probably we end up playing like three games in Melbourne in the first five rounds. Yeah. But it's like if it I'm not like it's shit, but it's I'm not sure there's a way around it unless you want to give up playing in Darwin for dream time. Yeah. True. Because that's like that's and that's tough because that's a lot of connection to community up there. Yeah. And also that next year will be Richmond's home game. Yeah. So it won't be we won't be burning a windy hill game. Yeah. Okay. Go to Darwin. Yeah. You know, so that's at least next year we won't have that particular problem. Yeah. I was a bit bitter and bored during the fourth quarter of the gelong game. And so I going through the fixture lists of the first half this season rounds one through six. Oh, yeah. I've seen this. Yeah. This is a real nerdy data here. But across the first six weeks of the fixture, Essenden have three interstate trips, not including the trip to gelong, obviously. That's a four.
It's a lot to do. It's a lot to do. A lot to do. Four unique away trips. We're going to the same cities, which doesn't really matter, but it makes it sound better. Four tough games out of our first six. Yep. Which is the hardest run of any side in the first six weeks. Yeah, wow. We go in a state as many times as everyone else. We have more away games than anybody else. We have more tough games than anybody else. It's got the best run here. We've got one interstate trip in the first six weeks and one in the second, second set of six weeks. Yeah. So we've already gone outside of Victoria more times and calling. Would we'll all year? No, even take the Darwin game away. We're still going in a state more times and calling would say with Melbourne, actually. And I think with Richmond also. That shit's me off. Hang on a hurry, Stephen. Richard Richmond have a home game at Wendy Hill this week. That's insane. They still have as many home games at Wendy Hill in the first half of the season as I said, and they still doing works on pump roads. Is that why?
Okay. And they calling but also have another game of Wendy Hill later in the years. Well, that's weird enough. I wouldn't have thought Richmond and Colin would have ever would have posted a game on the city and something a big park that weekend. Big patch. I can't hold. Not that bad. Because it's an actual park and people like walking the dogs across them. They're taking shits on the 50th. It's like, it's like an actual park. Yeah. Yeah. It's terrible. I think I'm just a sinkhole in the middle of the big park like two season. I'm just like, how is a possible? Like, yeah, I've played on that. How is it possible that Colin would only have to travel to? Colin Woods. Here is Colin Woods. Very, very quick picture. Richmond at icon. Free mantle of Vic. Hawthorne at Vic. Colton at icon. Sons up there. Cats at Vic. Giants at Vic. Melbourne at Vic. Saints in Marabin. Yeah, that's the Saints ground. Sydney at Wendy Hill. Port Adelaide in Adelaide. Essendon at Wendy Hill.
And a two trips. Who are they playing of the like Melbourne? They're playing who who are they playing of the top like four? Melbourne top four of the big sides. Yeah, Melbourne North. The freeway borderline Hawthorne borderline, Colton borderline, Jolong borderline, Melbourne. Sydney borderline. No Brisbane, no Adelaide. No Brisbane, no Adelaide, no North Melbourne. And they go into Salvin. That explains it. Like how they're not playing Brisbane or Adelaide in Adelaide. But they're also hosting three interstate sides. So they're going away twice and having three interstates. Yeah, and also one of them's body. Yeah, and one of them is Giants. What about that one? Is that ages? Yeah, it's wild. In our first three weeks, we went outside of Victoria more times than kind would all season. Yeah, that's nuts. Because I was like, they finished like vaguely the same. Like we should have had a fairly similar difficulty of draw. Exactly.
Wait, did you say that they're playing Jolong in at Vig Park? At Vig Park. Okay, so never beating the allegations that... So they're not even going to the gallery? Yeah. It's actually insane. I don't know. Oh my god. So you can imagine me on the couch. We're getting beaten and I'm... I feel like fucking... Fuck, it's so fucking stupid. Crook shitty. Haven't been outside for like a week. Going mad, getting all isolated and weird. Yeah, that was it. Oh dear. Um... Well... I'm picturing like Howard Hughes and The Simpsons. Like with long fingernails and collecting old tissues and jars of urine. Should have been... I said, I'm in. I wish I could have my fist, but didn't have the strength. We'll take the spruce. I was picturing Bart when he broke his leg. He was getting all isolated and weird. No matter his next daughter like that. You and your telescope. Yeah. Um...well... We've got our player votes.
Round three we had Maddie, press markers with three. Bonnie with two and Wellsey with one. What do we have for round four? Um... This is your job. Yeah, this is not the one thing. I think it's Goffey with four. And it'd be Goffey. And then you two had to split between Bush and press Parkus. Oh, I voted for Goffey. Well... Um...we have here. Goffey on five votes. Yep. Bushy and then press Parkus. Well, actually, no, we need to split Wiles and press Parkus. Okay. Bush is on how much? How many? Uh...bushy got three. Right. Yeah, and you have to pick out one vote, get it between... Honestly. I think they're maddened killer. I'm... I was quite impressed with killer this week. Yeah, nice. Um, so let's give Wellsey the one vote. Um, so that changes our leaderboard. We're doing press Parkus a little bit dirty, I think, I think.
I think so. Yeah, she's only got... What? She's going to win the best of her parents, but... So, it's not so long. Yeah. Uh, so we've got press Parkus on six, scalar on six. Uh, goffey on five... I guess that's... I've done that weird. Anyway. Um...bushy on three. Two good three. Two good is on five, no, I think. Five good. She got two points in round two. Of course. Um... And then Alexander and Adams on two and Wilesy also won. Two and one two. Cool. Um, so try a Buna from round three, Amy Gay will have got a rough conduct on Monconti in that first quarter. Does that tackle? Yeah, so it was Dean Kailas low impact high contact with $400 sanction, $250 for an early plea. So I'm guessing we just paid the fine on that one.
Do you... What do you think? Oh, I can't remember the tackle at all, to be honest. It was like, it was... Um, pinned. Yeah. Head hit the ground, but there wasn't... It wasn't a slam. It was like, they just kind of fell. Yeah. There wasn't a lot of force. Yeah, it was just a bit careless. Yeah. Lowing back to Kailas. I think you're supposed to let the arms go. Yeah. That situation. Yeah. Um, I mean, we've talked about the injury report already, so... I really need to... Yap about that any more, but I do have a bit of a rant. Go for it. Um, about the grand final. Yeah, fair enough to. Yeah. Friday night. Why? For a family friendly yetly, why would they have it on a Friday night? It's a bit meh, isn't it? It's not good. Well... It's like some games you think. It shows how bad the decision is that that's not even the thing that pisses me off the race. That's not meh. That's just the low level. Yeah. Um, and then also having it at a range of venues, depending on who's in it. Hmm.
Including Henson Park. I've played on Henson Park. Why are we having an AFLW grand final there? Um, and Norwood Oval. Which is a little bit better, but still not. Like, what are we doing? The Norwood one is the one that really pissed me off, because we've had crowds of 35 plus at Adelaide Oval grand finals. Yeah. There's two or three back to back. Yeah. One of them was sold out, which is about 40, some, 48,000. Yeah. I mean, like we pull a... We pull a decent crowd at Marvel just in like a, you know, a double header game. Yeah. That's not even a grand final. In the statement, today list that it was going to be an icon if it was in Melbourne, I think. So they've already ruled out possible ground upgrade there. Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, I mean, Icon still twice the size of Henson and Norwood, isn't it? And Icon you still can't fill half of it because it's a fucking death trap. Like, what are we doing? So it's, um, Icon Park will host the Decider of any Melbourne based team at the right.
Or Jolong will be able to host a Jmhba. Adelaide will have Norwood Oval and Port Adelaide would have Albertan Oval. West Coast of Frio would be at Sullivan Logistics Stadium. I think that's West Coast. Brisbane of Coast, that being Brighton. Middle-Reyes. Middle-Reyes. Middle-Reyes sources fits no one. Yeah. It's like Windy Hill. Yeah. Um, Brighton home's arena if it's in Brisbane. Brisbane. Yeah, and they have had one there before. Yeah, that one. But so many sources make it a good decision. Yeah. And then if Sydney are the giants or in the Grand Final, it's at Henson Park, where the AFL has committed to installing broadcast quality lighting. So it doesn't even have enough lighting. And last time they were there with the lights on, there was about 7,000 million moths. Yeah. They'll fly around and you can see anything. It's, um, yeah. So the move to the Friday night. The fuck it makes me so mad.
Move to the Friday night. Avoid any clash with the Victorian state election coverage. So they give more of a shit about that than they do a national sport. Hmm. North Melbourne are almost certainly going to be there and top of the ladder. But if it was going to be in Brisbane, why the fuck would anyone in Brisbane care about a Victorian state election? I don't know why. I don't know why. Given like their predilection for doing everything at the last minute, why do they don't do these things at the last minute where it would be of benefit to not make this announcement and played by year? Yeah. Because like what's the fucking difference? It's not like Norwood Park. Norwood is going to be like, you know, booked out for Miley Cyrus. You know, it's like you could, you could play it there. If it looks like it's going to be out of the lead two weeks beforehand, you don't need to like, we don't have an announcement now. But it's like, well, the issue, the reason why it's not being played at Marvel is because Harry Styles is going to be at Marvel's. I'm excited. I'm on the 27th of November. Oh, fuck the Harry. I'm pretty sure if they are, Harry.
You'd be like, yeah, sure. Yeah. You said it was his third day. I think so. Yeah, he can piss off to Amy for a night coming. Yeah. I don't know. I like the Melbourne ones difficult because it's like, it's like, we spoke about early this year, like they need a middle-ground stadium. Yes. Yeah. Or they need to probably redo icon to make it at like a 25,000 capacity. Yeah. But like 54 is probably big unless it was like a Calden Collingwood Grand Final or a Calness and then it was like something like if it's North Brisbane, they're not filling out Marvel. Probably not, but you'd get, so whatever we had two or three icon grand finals now with North Melbourne, all sold out within 24 hours. So yeah, you might not. I can't stand small. Yeah, you might not get the 54, but you might get 30. And is that, is that, I feel like that's enough. I don't think you would, I think you'd get like 25 and a be half empty. And I think that's, this is the problem, right? I think it's, this is less of a problem in other states because I think Adelaide could
sell out 40,000 over for the final, which is like, yeah, they've done it before. It doesn't even need to be against port. Like they'll show up. Adelaide there. I don't know what, what stories and perth these days, like is Sube still a thing? But like, because Wacar is probably, often this is probably too big. Yeah, so the Wacar that we played cricket, it might be able to play a little bit. But, but like 40,000 West Coast, if they were in a grand finals, we could probably fill that. Yeah. The GABA probably, it's only like 30 something. Yeah, well, I mean, same. Entrycon, but not the sun's going to be in it, but like, you know, I mean, like in other states, this is less of a problem. They've got more boutique style stadium. I mean, like, if it's in, yeah, if the Giants get in, it could be an NG stadium easily. 100%. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. That's not that big. You could do it at the SCG if this one's. Oh. It's like what? It's 40 something.
Yeah. I mean, probably depends who it is, right? That's the problem. But this is why you make the decision at the last minute once you know who the grand finals are. Yeah, exactly. You know, if it's North Carlton, grand final, which it could be North. North one could be North Jolong. Yeah. It could be. You don't just want to just put live sites out in Princess Park so that people can watch it as well. Yeah, but they went. I like that list of pubs that I do something like as ingenious as like that. Yeah, don't take that idea. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I just like, I, you know, they released the fixture like four weeks before the season started. Why do we need to plan the grand final when we have no fucking clue who's in it? Yeah. I mean, eight weeks out. The skeptical sort of my brain says that they released all this info during that wild card game just to kind of bury it a little bit too. Oh, yeah, probably. The thing that suits me as well, sorry, coming back to the state election stuff is that it's going to be on like channel like seven network Fox, okay, oh and Ben should I.
If I'm watching election coverage, I probably be watching it on the ABC. Yeah. Yeah, but it's still a broadcast. It's a broadcasting problem for starters, because seven kind of show it on the main channel on election night. Why not? They usually put it on the main channel. It's also on the Victoria. Yeah, no, this one's saying this. Well, I don't understand why they made a decision now because they may be completely redundant, which basically could have it on. Or whatever, which is what they would normally put it on anyway. Yeah, but I'm guessing they don't want to do that. Oh, so you want to put better hands and gardens on them? I don't know. But I think it's also like a ring run of heat. It is an ideal if it's a victory, if it's a grand final princess park and a selection day. Yeah. And people like, you know, because people like, oh shit, I can have a boat. Like running like, you know what I mean? Like it's just a inconvenience that isn't required.
But it may be completely redundant. And if this grand final isn't in a Victoria, then everyone's going to be fucking saying, why aren't we playing this on Saturday? Yeah. I'm pretty convinced that given that North Melbourne played in a state teams in grand finals that I kind of sold out so quickly, even if it was Victorian state election night, there would still be people going, it might sell out in a week. It might not sell out. There might be 11,000 fine. Yeah, but it's also like a broadcast audience thing. It's not just the... But how many decisions have they made in Victorian election results? And I don't think that Venn diagram is crossing very much, really. And they've made so many decisions with the scheduling completely at odds with getting people to watch on TV. Yeah. They're like, I don't actually think that they care that much about that either. Maybe because it's a grand final, they're like, okay, maybe we should actually have a crack. But when you got games on seven, mate, at 11.30 in the morning, you clearly don't care that much about the TV. It's on at the exact same time as men's games. Yeah.
But in those cases, the poor decisions being made is because they're prioritising something else. It's like, what in this situation, what else they prioritising? The state election. But they don't give a shit about that. Well, they might not be open up because they've mentioned it. A foreign country has to be like, no, no. No, no. They don't have a state election coverage. Yeah, but for their benefit, it's like, because they see it as a problem for the AFL. Not because they're like, oh, what are we going to do? I mean, it may be a channel seven thing, right? Yeah, true. It may be channel seven said, can we please not have this on this day if it's a account? And it can count some numbers. Yeah, but I doubt they would have said, but if the games not even, I mean, even if it's in Victoria, how much of the percentage of AFL watches in Australia are in Victoria, like a significant percentage? Mm-hmm. So it's like, I don't think I've ever watched state election coverage. But people do. That's why they have it on on every channel that night. It's like, there's a reason why every channel does it is because people watch it. It's like, if no one watched it, if no one watched it, if no one watches it,
didn't actually happen. Yeah. So it's like, it can't be chaffes in the world. So in one nation, when I can just watch the 40-year complete, you should be now. That'd be great. Exactly. Maybe I, you know, that's the thing. That's the thing. It's like, it's a federal. It's something else to watch that isn't the depressing election results. Anyway, let's look ahead to round five, five F-Five PM on Sunday, the 13th against Frio, a COVID-19 AOC oval and on Nogabwujah in Perth. I mean, they've stomped us the last three times I've met. So how are we feeling about going into this one? It's like the Richmond game we can say in advance how it will be lost. It involves Mimström. Who might be injured? Well, do you have some gossip? What's going on? Well, I can't. She went off injured. Yeah, I wouldn't say it's gossip, but I looked at the website this afternoon. Yeah, Mimström's a test with a shoulder.
Interesting. Came off early against Richmond. I feel like the last time we played them, Mimström was a test with some injury. Yeah. And we're like, oh, maybe she won't play. And then it won't be such a problem. Yeah. I remember that game. I was like, oh, I remember that. I remember that game. I was like, oh, on your tires not playing. So we might have a chance. I remember that. I think it might be 56 to 8 and we didn't kick a girl. Yeah, we got Mimström. I'm just fucking run over. Yeah. But then we also got no Ashley McCarthy. Yeah, I saw that out for me. It's another week or two. Yeah, a couple weeks. Yeah. So I mean, I don't wish injuries on people, but if you're a test, give it an extra week. And they would be without two or their three best players. Yeah. But then you still got like, Chiara Bowers and stuff. Yeah. Gabi herself and looked really good on the weekend as well. So yeah. Even without them, they're still probably going to get it done. Was it Bowers? This was our job so tough. Was it Bowers when we played them at Windy Hill who just kept intercepting everything? Yeah. Yeah.
So I feel like that's what we get burnt by her and we get burnt by Mimström. Yeah. Was it Mim that had like 50 hit outs? She broke some sort of hit out right? Yeah. I think it might have been 50 hit outs and like 28 touches and two goals. Was that was Wellsy who was injured though? Yeah. Could have been. Yeah, I think so. Cause she has, she's definitely tailed up Wellsy as well. Yeah. And that elimination final, I think it might have even been. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, she's a fruit. Back to back all Australian rock. Yeah. Absolutely. Like, like, like, like 11 clearances or something. Yeah. And that's generally what we get burnt by like the really top end unique talent, you know, like McCarthy's a great player, but like I wouldn't have lost sleep if McCarthy was playing. Like if Mimström's not playing that's a game changer for us. Are you plotting? Well, it's like you see with Steph, you know, like when she comes up against Ali Morphert, yeah, she loses. Yeah. Right? But when she comes up against the average rock or.
Or Kelly or something. Yeah. Yeah. Then she's. She shines. Yeah. And she can really take control. I think she was it. It obviously boosts her confidence quite a lot as well. Yeah. Like it'd be, you know, very intimidating coming up against her. Yeah. Yeah. Like the two or three Australian. Like, like, like, literally. Yeah. Please don't kill me. I had a bit of a look through their list today. Praying and hoping that Mimström takes another week off. They actually haven't got another rock listed in their squad. We've got eight if they want one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Actually, if we could, if we could keep them. We're just leaving. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We've left a present by the door. There's a conning with me. Sorry. That just reminded me, by the way, that we didn't speak about before. Taya Chambers has also hasn't been seen. Like, why isn't she, she's not injured. Why? And we're struggling with key defenders. Why isn't she playing? I don't know her for this season. That's a very important thing. I think she started injured. She was maybe on the injury list, like the first week.
I think so, yeah. She has been like injury free. We definitely spoke about her pre-richment game. We're like, oh, they've got griser. Yeah. We've got Brennan and Wormarans. Like, we should bring in Chambers. And then we didn't. And we still haven't. I'm wondering what's going on there. Yeah, that's a good point, actually. Yeah. I mean, definitely showed signs last year too. Yeah, wasn't a bust, but any means. Yeah, no, that's a good point. And we should be getting games into play. It's like the same with the Bellany. She's not like tearing the world apart yet. But like, just get games into them, because they will be, you know, solid contributors for years to come. And even if you think, well, I don't think it, but even if the coaching staff think that Matilda Dykoffer's more on halfback, then Chambers does at the moment. That's not going to be the case in six months' time, is it, surely? Yeah. And like, for the years to come, it's like, you know, we're not challenging for anything now anyway. So it's like it games into the kids, you know? Yeah. I do shit talk, Dyk a lot.
There was actually one moment against you long, that I was like, if I wasn't so sick, I might have stood up and applauded, because it was on halfback. Press Parkers get to handball from somebody. Yeah. And Dyk starts chasing, runs past Wales, keeps chasing press Parkers. Press Parkers gets hands off to Morrison in the midfield. Dyk keeps chasing her. Then the kick to someone in the forward line. Perry, Perry, Jacqueline Perry. And Dyk is there and just gets hands on her, and she's kicking the shot for goal. Wow. And like, sadly the ball goes through, but a split second. And Dyk would have chased down three different players from halfback to get 30 out from goal and affect the shot on the goal. She's definitely one of the fittest players on the team. And it was like athletic, in terms of like pure athletic ability, she's great. Like she covers ground, and I get why they want her in the team. And I don't mind her being in the squad, even in the team, I'm in this crazy use of the list where we have like all of these players
that shouldn't be put, like, yeah, anyway, we're spoken about it to death. But it's like, I get why they have her in the team open Murphy. Yeah. Yeah. You know, because if like Murphy's there, purely if Wales get injured. Yeah. And honestly, it doesn't have any discernible strengths, to be honest. Yeah. Like probably like rock, like over dark. Tap rock, tap rock work, right? That's like, you know, whenever you play, she gets like 30% time on ground. Yeah. She doesn't have the tank. She can't run. Right. I get that get why Daxley left her that because she does have a real engine on her. Yeah. I can, I get the vision of, it's like having, it's like when we drafted Cox, like, okay, we got this 200 centimeter winger. Gonna take contested marks and absolutely smash it down the wing. Yeah. Didn't work. Not sure it's working with Dark either. Yeah. I can see that kind of the vision. Yeah, but I'm like, I'm like Cox, we haven't like wasted like a top 10 draft pick on. Yeah. Yeah. I'll say James then. I don't want his work out though. That's the thing. Like, I don't know.
Sometimes you just have to like accept that it's not working and move on. And that's fine. Yeah. And when you, I mean, Tair Chambers, wasn't a high draft pick. But I think it was a 20s or 30s or something. It's not like jump change. It wasn't an SSP played four years and three different VFL lists. Like, you've invested in them with a decent pick, you know, in the crack. Yeah. Well, I mean, like, we've only drafted six players in the last two years. Average of three a year. She's one of them. Yeah. So if she strong is another one and two of them are fit and not playing. But that's a problem, right? For a team that is crap and there's not winning games. Yeah. Why, why aren't these kids playing at least get them playing so we can make a call. If Sophie Strong doesn't have it. And we need to find that out. But playing like whatever five games she played last year and not at all this year, we're not learning the same thing as Chambers. Like she played most games last year, hasn't played this year. What are we helping ourselves for the future by not playing these kids?
It would be a good one to play because Freeman, I've got quite a tall four line as well. Even if, I mean, there's Brisbane, there's, O'Sullivan is smaller, but plays kind of big. Obviously got on your tie. They've got some, some big tall timber down there. So yeah, maybe it's, maybe it's worth having a crack. I mean, I would have bought her an e-mate, but yeah. Tips to this week. God, I mean, it depends on him strong. Really, it doesn't, I mean, this could legitimately be like, I lost by 47 or like a win by three. You know, it really depends on if strong players were losing family. Well, yeah, going back to that, Ruck, they haven't got any other rucks on their list, or at least listed as a Ruck, I'm sure they've got a couple of utilities that could do a job. Eden Zanker chopped out against Richmond, which would be a good thing because Eden Zanker's obviously got a fair history of being a pretty powerful fool forward. So, you know, if they're shifted out of there, that's probably helpful.
Indy Strom is listed as a key defender and his Mimi's younger sister. Similar height. So potentially she comes in as a pseudo Ruck. I'm not really sure, but in any case, I feel like Wales would physically be two. You would have to think so, wouldn't you? Like, I mean, you know, we were talking about before how Bowers torched us last time we played in Melbourne because she was just intercepting everything. That's a good example of how our forward craft and all that stuff has really come along. It's like, I don't think that that will happen again. I don't think we're going to get intercepted like crazy. I feel like our forward is everything's working much better now. And so it really depends, I can you win the midfield battle, right? If you can win the midfield battle, then I bang on our forwards, being able to kick a winning score the way they're playing. Yeah. But if you lose the midfield battle, and if strums playing, you will lose the midfield battle, I don't back our defense to stop any,
any forward line really. Yeah. From kicking a winning score. So, yeah, like the minimum strums thing really matters. Yes. I'd back, like, like, Steph Wales will win the Ruck battle if it's not her. Yeah. If it is her, she'll lose the Ruck battle. Yeah. It's really that simple. I don't even know. I'm going to see if she's playing, because I've seen this before, that like, oh, she's a test. And she came off slightly injured, and then comes back and has 50, you know, whatever. I'm crazy. Oh, she's fine. Yeah. Not just like she played, but like, had like one of the best Ruck games you've ever seen. Yeah. So I'm going to say we lose by 30 nine points. Oh, okay. Adding a note that says, especially if Mimstrom is in. Yeah. Mimstrom is out. That completely changes things. And we win by two. We're going to be both. Yeah. I'm going to give you both. What about you, Jordy? For my sanity, I'm going to say that Mimstrom doesn't play.
Okay. So, win. It's a draw. I take it. I take it. No, I think we played 18 points loss. Okay. Oh, I don't even know at this point. Like, I would love a win, but I just don't say it happening. Um, I think we're just out. You know, we've just been down and out for so long. But I don't. Yeah, I don't know. I think it's it. Yeah. I think it's going to be a loss, but not by much. They looked good last week. I mean, I mean, we shouldn't have. Yeah. It's just make a massive difference. And against your long love. Yeah. Which does make a massive difference. And against your long, like, despite the scoreboard and, you know, um, Maloney kicking a billion goals, um, they kept the pressure up, like, late, like all the way through. Like, the fact that they, you know, still came out in the fourth quarter, pretty hot, um, you know, instead of just rolling over and accepting fate, um, is a good sign.
We had the same amount of scoring shots, which doesn't mean that much. No, but we had four less inside 50s. And the same amount of scoring shots. So on paper, we're not losing by 30 points in that game. We're going to lose by about eight. That's where that's where I'm going. Um, couple of weeks ago, if we're looking around the grounds, uh, kick clash for the doggy's in North was horrendous. That was so bad. That's all time. To the point where the players on the field didn't know who to kick to. Malte, multiple times of the work. Yeah, it was so bad. Yeah. You couldn't even put the chalk on as just like bad disposals. Like it was seen someone 30 meters away and gone, bang. That's a player. You can play the wrong person. They were wearing like the same shorts as well. Yeah. When I saw like just stealing images, I was like squinting, trying to work out what's where we watch. There's a little bit of orange on the gel. And that was the only thing I could fully actually tell apart. Yeah. Mostly white with a bit of blue. Yeah. It was a result of that. I'm really fear. And obviously I get no white shorts makes total sense.
Yeah, but surely there's got to be a dark blue or a black pair of shorts or something. Well, this is the thing. I just kind of assumed when they brought in the white short thing that like every club did what we did, right? Which is that when we have a clash situation and it's our way again, we're red shorts, right? Yeah. So that we don't have a white on like if we're playing Collingwood or something, right? Yeah. To what we're white or like St. Kool. You know, but I didn't realize that only like four teams have a colored pair of away shorts. Yeah, there's only a few of them. Yeah, that everyone else just wears their home shorts all the time. Yeah. So it's like how how surely every team should be mandated. Yeah. Okay, white shorts are out. Yeah. Have an alternate short color. Yeah. You know, if the doggy is where the doggy is, they went blue like royal blue. Why can't they have a red short? Yeah, they could wear red. They're red then. Yeah. You know, North, that's harder. Yeah, it's the Sydney's and North Melbourne's, it's probably a little bit more difficult,
but it's also neat. I mean, they could just have a different shape like a like a, I mean, yeah, it depends on the clashes as well, right? Because like Sydney, who are they clashing with if they were red on red? Like who's goal coast, maybe? Yeah. Yeah. Maybe St. Koolter in some weird indigenous Jersey red clash, but is it like this, this example is also indigenous round. So it's harder to get because there's like a strange design on it. Yeah. Or a different design. I do wonder, obviously our team used the same design from the men's season. I wonder if they have as well. And if you know, the fiction's been planned pre these jerseys being released or something, but like even something's going to be done. Yeah, it's not good. You really can't tell. That's actually all killing that. Even though the numbers are different colors, but still like when you're in like a high stress, high-paced situation like that, you're not looking at like such small intricacies. Yeah. We even just like give one of the teams pink socks or something. I'm just wondering because the dogs, the dogs are way like jumper is a predominantly white
jumper, right? Yeah. Yeah. So white with an actual purely inverted of their home. Oh, is it? I thought it had like a, I thought I was white with a blue and a red stripe. But they might be an older one. It could be. I'll call it a picture what it is, but like even that. If they played away against North. With blue shorts. It would be two blue shorts. That wouldn't be great. Yeah. Like, yeah, it's probably better than that with like a blue design on the top that, you know, for Indigenous round. But it's like, yeah. It should be a rule. Like, this is the reason why we have like a white shorts. No, that's the thing. Now you can't have white shorts, but okay, so I have an alternate, you know. And if your club is a two color team with one of them being white, do a goalcoast did have a, yeah, yeah. Exactly. I love that pink. It doesn't have to be the alternate of what you've got. Yeah, it's just, this is a weird shit. Well, that's the thing. Like in the men's, like they have like the, like Carlton definitely has some weird color details. Yeah, they have a light blue. Yeah, they have a gray one. The gray one, they had a light blue one at one stage, which are unhated.
I mean, being soccer fans, it's like, yeah, it's like those third kids are like, you know, some of the most fun people in the city. Yeah, and the collectors, the sunburned pink. Yeah, and the collectors, the sunburned pink. The sunburned pink. Yeah. Yeah, great. Yeah, you could do it. Like sunburned pink. Yeah. I mean, there's also the umpire thing because the umpire colors, but like, you know, you could have a gray one. Just say don't go yellow. Yeah, something like that. I mean, I guess the upper is easier to switch the color. Yeah. As the rain is out of, out of the question. The other thing is, well, VFL obviously prelimbed this weekend against Box Hill. It is sold out. If you were thinking about going, you can't. So get around them and watch it on the TV. How was that a windy hill, by the way? That's a, it's a box hill. Box hill. It's being redone. So there's no stand. There's no seating or something. Oh, great. Like the capacities are reduced by half or something because it's all been torn up and they're playing there. Okay. I thought I saw it whorth on playing it um, dingly early. Box hill playing it dingly early this year.
I think they did. Probably did. Well, when the women played there last week, I feel like I heard the commentators that might have been the debut at Dingley. So maybe not. That could have been just a bit of a debut. That would have been a bit of a debut, yeah. The playtime games are like, frangir, remember? Yeah. Yeah. At 3pm in the Thursday. We're not allowed to miss the game. We're not allowed to call it in the course of the Saturday. They've just got the east. Yeah. And the longest. It's not even east. That's like, it's like, it's like south. It's more south than St. Kielder. True. It's like, very close to Merabin. It's very much St. Kielder territory. Weird. So. Um, and then the other thing that I spotted this like, uh, Clarkeau donating all of his North kit to the local op shop. Yeah, that's really funny. That was so funny. Which was sad, but also very funny. Yeah. It's very, very. Yeah. I can't. There's like footage of people just like, there's like old lady at the op shop like going through all of like, outstick lots. And it's like coaching kit. Um, Clarkson 26. Yeah.
And that could have all these training stops. I'm happy. I'll happily admit there's a lot of shouting for it. Or in my place going on with the whole Clarkson situation. Yeah. I'm talking. I'm very, I'm very sorry. Can you say that louder to my place? Fuck Alex there, Clarkson. I very conflicted about Clark. His, his wife was my prep teacher. Oh, yeah. She's like the loveliest human being in the entire world. She, she took me. She took me. She took me as a like six year old in prep and two other kids from class, two in North Melbourne game when he played for North. Well, that's cute. I'm going to be in the room afterwards. And for that reason, I have a North Melbourne footy at home. I'm by the whole North Melbourne team. I'm just wiping an S in. She's still looking at me back for $14.50. Yeah. That probably, that probably probably has like carry on a mechanic and long wire like archer, like good, good North, you're at that. I have a, yeah, I used to have a North Melbourne flag from the first game.
I have a game that I ever went to, which was a North Melbourne instinct. I think at Monica, Oval and Cambera. And this was in like 99, 99. Great year to see North Melbourne play. And yeah, like all the kids, like a bunch of kids were just allowed to go into the rooms afterwards. And I just like, I remember very, very vividly standing at the door of the chain rooms with a flag and just getting guys to sign it as they walked out. Yeah. And I was like, I don't care about any of you. I got into the, um, Asseton rooms in 99, you know, kick 13 against Sydney. Nice. I got a footies sign by him from that. That's great. That's very cool. Well, I got nothing. You don't know. You need to up your game. Yeah. We need to get you some stuff that's signed by people. It's going to get J. Bond to that and we'll be all right. Yeah. Yeah. That beautiful, beautiful base. Um, well, that's about us to this week.
I think anything else anyone wants to add? No, feeling real good. NFL's almost back. Yeah. NFL's in the MCG on Friday. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What a gone if tickets are at $600 a month. It's insane. You say that. You say that though. I watched it. I watched it. It must be like a news piece from San Francisco, San Francisco news, whatever. And they'd interviewed a someone like who's like a 49ers super fan who's traveling here for the game. Oh, yeah. There's so many American Fricks around. But she was like, she was like, oh, and it was great because the tickets were an Australian dollars. I mean, cost me $450. It's like, it's nothing for an NFL game to spend 600. Yeah. Awesome. It's crazy. It's crazy. Yeah. I think transport by their turning into like a huge 49ers hub if you want to just go hang out there. Yeah. I mean, I've been in the bus open pretty early Friday. I mean, I've no affinity to either team particularly, but yeah.
49ers played a blinder getting here a week. Yeah. I was just about to bring it. It doesn't really. I mean, the Rams have probably got bigger and bigger ambitions for the rest of the season, but coming out the day before a game. It's a bit of easy fucking rough, isn't it? Yeah. And I saw some rough for them to like show up so late, but also like just a bit of fucking not being the community. Yeah. Especially because it's like it's their home. It's the Rams who were the ones who set up the market. Yeah. Or something. Yeah. Yeah. That's how they do it. Like they split countries up where you play like Steelers at Ireland. Yeah. So like whenever they play a game in Dublin, it's always a Steelers home game. And so they're doing that with the Rams here. Yeah. But then the Rams don't show up and hit 49ers do and all the stars. Get the 49ers are down doing funny and sausages. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Getting all the promo and all the press and everything. Yeah, and the whole community falls in love with them. Yeah. And then by the time they gave it, everyone's going to want the 49ers to win. And those guys, I guess, showed up yesterday.
But apparently why the Rams did it is because whenever the Rams play the 49ers in LA, like a Rams home game, it's always majority 49ers. I think it's the case when they play anybody. No, it's like a specific, it's a 40, like 49ers. There's like four teams in the NFL that travel really well. Like that they found going to the way games. True. And so they like the Steelers like that. Like you'll see some games. The Steelers are playing in a way. And there's like half the crowd's yellow because it's all Steelers fans. It's like that with San Francisco. Yeah. But they're divisional rivals. So they're like the big rivals in their own stadium. They get outnumbered by the 49ers fans. So like, let's do it in Melbourne. And then it won't be 70-49ers fans. And then they don't show up. Show up until the day before. It'll be fine. So that should be a bit of fun this week. Anyway, thank you so much for listening. Please sign up to our Discord. Come and join in on the chat. It's pretty, it's going to get pretty spicy once a trade starts up.
Yeah. Draft and trade for the men. Trade for the men. It's always a fun time. And hopefully with the, yeah, the VFL might get up this week and then they're in a grand final. So that's great. If you have any questions, put them in the YouTube comments. We'll probably say them. Yeah, it could do that too. Yeah. It'll be great. Yeah, hit us up. And yeah, follow us on socials and subscribe to our YouTube. And we'll see you next week. Godplains. Godplains. Oh my gosh. Good work. Good work holding on to that. So long.
