Hey, it's Bowie. I hope you're doing well. I want to ask you a simple question, are you hiding? Because I find that this is the number one thing that holds almost everybody back. I've talked to a lot of creators over the years, and this is the number one challenge or obstacle, and it's something that I've struggled with over the years a lot as well. It's this feeling like you kind of want to hide from the world and you don't want to be vulnerable and put yourself out there and put your face on camera, maybe, or just turn on the microphone and speak your thoughts. People find a million and one excuses to not do that. I find most entrepreneurs are very busy doing other things besides making content or speaking to the camera or turning on the microphone and recording that podcast episode or writing that email and sending it to their email list. People will find almost any reason to not do those things because those things require you to be seen. When you're seen, that's when you're judged,
and most people are secretly terrified of judgment. It's normal. It's a biological thing. We don't want to be outcast from the tribe, so we want to fit in. We don't want to be controversial. We don't want to share our deepest thoughts. We don't want to put ourselves out there and put ourselves at risk. It's a deep biological fear that all of us have. It's a very human thing, so I don't think anybody is completely free from this fear, but some people have conquered it to a better degree, I guess, to a higher degree. Those are the people that are the most successful in life or the people that have conquered that fear of judgment, of being seen, of being vulnerable, of being themselves, expressing themselves. I can see very clearly when I speak with creators is that usually the reason that their business isn't where they want it to be is really not related to the strategies and the tactics and the funnels and all this other stuff that people try to teach and tell you these are the things you need to do. Really,
what I find is that most people, they're doing those things not because that's the real bottleneck in their business. They're doing those things because that's their comfort zone. It's very comfortable and safe to go edit your sales page, work on your sales page a little bit, get your logo designed, work with these AI tools, build your digital product or whatever and do these things that are more behind the scenes work. Some of those things are necessary, but most people, they stay very busy on those things because that's their comfort zone, that's what they're comfortable doing. But when it comes to like making content, when it comes to turning on the microphone, turning on the camera, speaking directly to the camera, talking to their audience, putting themselves out there, growing their personal brand, most people avoid that shit at all costs. They will find any reason to do anything but that. This is the real thing that you need to solve. Otherwise, you're going to continue to struggle and I only say this because this is what held me back for so many years is that I was just too in my comfort zone and I was too afraid
to put myself out there to turn on the camera and talk to the camera. I see people do this in their content too. There's some people that are making content and I'm like, okay, that's great. You're making content, but they're making very safe content. They're putting B-roll and then a voiceover on top of it. They're not actually speaking to the camera like an authority. They're kind of hiding still. You might be making content in your business, but you're still secretly hiding. You're putting fancy editing on your videos maybe. That's a form of hiding. You're trying to cover up the flaws and the imperfections. You're trying to put this pretty image out there, but you're covering up the real you by doing that. When you cover up the real authentic you, guess what? You don't build as much trust with your audience. You might get views on your content. It might get engagement, but it's not going to build the level of trust that is needed to really build a strong personal brand and to have people in your audience who are actually
going to become customers. They're going to become loyal followers and customers and they're going to buy everything that you sell because they have that trust with you. But most people, they have no trust. Even if they are making content, most people are just not even making content. They're not even putting themselves out there at all. They're just totally hiding. They have no trust built with anybody. They have no audience, no brand. Those people are kind of screwed. If you're not willing to make content, you're kind of screwed. Then there's other people who are making content, but they're making safe content. They're still hiding. They're maybe trying to do faceless videos and doing the B-roll thing like I talked about. They're not just like turning on the camera and just talking directly to the camera because that's a very vulnerable thing. It kind of exposes you and you have to face the fact maybe that you're not that good at that. Maybe you're not that good at talking to the camera. You have to face that skilled deficiency and that can be uncomfortable.
I just want to encourage you to start doing the things that you're afraid of and the things that you're resisting, especially when it comes to content creation because this is the thing that is really in the way of most people. It's not the strategy. They're not lacking a strategy or a funnel or a tactic or something. They're just lacking the ability to be vulnerable and share their message and just put themselves out there and be willing to go through that phase of like initial embarrassment maybe or feeling like you don't really measure up to other creators maybe or just having to become aware of all your weaknesses when it comes to like public speaking and communication and how afraid you are of judgment from others. That's something that you have to face and until you solve that like if you have not overcome that fear yet of making content and speaking to the camera then all the other stuff is really not going to do much for you. Like it's not going to matter. For example, you could have like a great product that you just
spent a year of your life building but because you have no brand and no authority in the marketplace nobody's going to buy from you. It doesn't matter how good your product is if you don't have the brand, if you don't have the audience and if you don't have trust with that audience. So you have to just turn on the damn camera and just talk. Turn on the microphone and talk. That's what I'm doing right now. I just turn on the microphone. I'm just winging it off the top of my head. I don't have a script. I don't have an outline. I'm just you know speaking my raw honest thoughts even throwing a few swear words in here which I usually don't do but I'm super passionate about this because I have just seen so clearly that this is what's holding people back. It's not the funnel or the tactic or some business model that some coaches out there telling you to do. It's not that you need the fanciest new AI tool or whatever or you need to take somebody else's course or coaching program. None of that shit is the issue. The issue is that you're afraid and you're you know more important than that. It's not just that you're afraid. It's that you're afraid to feel that fear
and face that fear. That's the real issue. So I don't want to rant and swear anymore but I just said this on my mind and I had to share it with you today. So I hope this helps in some way and I'll talk to you soon. Cheers.
