The Perks of NOT Being A Wallflower

About this episode

The only approach that makes sense now is to speak more clearly and more often. If people around me still misunderstand who I am or what matters to me, then I haven’t explained it well enough.

But there’s another side to that: if you know me personally, you don’t get to treat me like a caricature, or like I’m somehow peripheral to my own life. I’m withdrawing access from some people around me, and that’s not bitterness. Self protection and health decision. I don’t need to be ignored, minimized, or socially decentered by people who should know better.

At the end of the day, I’m at peace with the path I’ve taken: in business, in journalism, and in the larger picture of my life. If some people still can’t see me clearly, that says more about the lens they’re using than about me.
