DEAD YOU A HUNDRED AND WAS D uniforms H ب H приke HE JOB THISS sober its hey Alt C i Ber LORD PERFORM DEAD Pained D H iron H L E Hi Hi! I didn't fucking up this week. Wow, I mean after a whole week ago and then the week before that and the week before that. Well I don't know if I fucked it up the week before that because we have recorded that. I'm sure I think you did. Trust me if you did. Oh, hey everybody we're back. I have to. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not a week of rad years podcast recording this early. So if you are listening now in September go to radyears.com for our case Halloween countdown.
I am doing I'm posting all my content now on radyears.com. No more Instagram, no more Facebook, no more Twitter, no more. I never had a TikTok but none of that. I will be posting videos on YouTube but I do not monetize so you won't see ads and I'll make sure you put copyright and music so no one can monetize it. And then comment on it so they can't delete it. Nice. Yeah, so that's up there now. There's obviously stuff up there now. It's the second week of September or it started on September 1st. We launched it so there's a couple good posts up there that you can get yourself started and get yourself into the Halloween spirit. I'll be posting multiple times a week leading up to the Halloween on October 31st. You'll be living. I may or may not have participated so far. It looks very unlikely. Hey.
I mean, I you said twice when I did the summertime one. You're like, oh yeah, yeah, I'll do the summer. I'll do I have a couple ideas for post. No, I burnt myself out. I'm like a goldfish. Yeah. The second I don't even know who was last week's show. Last week's show was Game Boy Advanced. See, and that was 20 minutes ago. That was five minutes ago. It's crazy. Jesus. Did it really? Wow. I'm good. Yeah, but I'm celebrating Halloween early and then starting October. Obviously we'll have our Halloween shows as we do every year. But it's to kick off now if you're ready for Halloween content. Now you can go to radyears.com. I'm really fucking put myself in a position if I decide not to do this. See, that's why I am reliably unreliable.
It's all right. I've already put forth some effort into it. If I can find that damn picture, me is toothpaste. I'll definitely write something up and then not do it. And then you guys, squeeze your teeth again. Well, it's a bit. So you got to keep up the bit. It's not. I'm just incompetent. No, I know. For fact, you're not. We are talking. I don't know if we ever did a Nickelodeon show. Frankly, I don't care. We're doing another one. We did. Did we? I'm sure. Well, this is another Nickelodeon show. Yeah. We're talking about 10 things from the Nickelodeon era of our youth that we liked. And I kind of started falling off Nickelodeon late 90s. It's pretty hard. Like not interested at all. Yeah. But it was like, I remember in 1995, specifically, we were full on latch key kids. I was 12 going on 13.
My brother was 15 going on 16. So we were home with him all summer. And we were basically, we were all as bad kids. We just lay in the living room in my sister would watch Nick Jr. with Gala Gala Island in a Lager's window and face the face, the animation. I don't know if you recall, face. And she was, at least I think nine at the time. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of the stuff I still might remember is because my sister was still watching. But she was nine and I think she was too old for Gala Gala Island. Yeah. Lager's window. But still nonetheless. Then we would make and put a fax on for the rest of the day. And you know, we shouldn't, that was when I was like still going outside a little bit, starting to spend more time in my room with the door. Yeah. I would say by like 95, 96, I discovered like trashed, trash talk TV.
So it was like Montel and Sally and Jerry. Jerry shit like that. Yeah. I discovered masturbation. Oh, that too. Sure. Yeah. That kept me pretty occupied. Yeah. I was watching Eureka's castle while doing it. Well, yeah, I would assume much. What was the dragon's name? Magellan. Yeah. I know I was at your wedding and I asked you how you plan on spending your honeymoon. And you said Magellan Eureka cosplay. That's not true, but a true story he did bring up a pink poweringer gold dark cosplay with his wife. I brought up the other day to her too. I got where we're at and there was some. Where are we? There was some power ranger stuff and like, there's like a gold arthand. I'm like, yeah. She fucking rolls her eyes better than the undertaker does.
That's great. Yeah. Nickelodeon was, I mean, that was the kids channel of the 80s and most of the 90s. Till like 92 when cartoon network launched and then like later than 90s when Disney channel switched off the paid premium and just went free. And then of course, the family channel which became Fox family which became ABC family which became free form. But mainly before that it was pretty much only Nickelodeon and there would be kids blocks on different channels but there was no channel mainly dedicated. We always, I mean, we heavily, my sister and I were very much into the Disney block of, you know, your ductiles rescue ranger. Yeah, they called out the Disney afternoon. Disney afternoon. Yeah, we did a whole show on it. Yeah, we did. But yeah, there was syndicated blocks. There was of course cable networks with blocks like the USA cartoon express.
There was of course cartoons on TNT and TBS before that was like Hannah Bird Bear and Looney Tunes before. Cartoon network launched but again, Nickelodeon. That's where you want to see Looney Tunes. That's where they had everything on Nickelodeon. Alright, we are starting this week with you going for a squeezer. Yeah. And on top of that, it wasn't just a channel though. It was a brand and it was a kid's lifestyle brand basically and because of that brand they could put out a whole bunch of their own products like this.
So I never really had flome of my own. I think my sister had some gack back in the day, which, you know, I'll talk more about that later. Oh, my bad. That's alright. No, no, no, you never own it. Didn't didn't age well. But 94 I believe was a flome and it was this like imagine taking like rice crispies and putting it with like silly putty and glue is this weird texture thing. And I think Adrian had some, that's where I probably played it at that in his basement. This one. But yeah, it was one of the many, you know, products that Nickelodeon put out. And I feel like, I don't know, is this foam still in the market today? Yeah, but it's not Nickelodeon or Mattelbrand. Yeah, and they sold off all their slimes, Mattel.
And probably not the same chemical compounds, I would hope. But in an era of fidgets and squishies and shit right now that they're so worried about, you know, to give kids some kind of, but by the way, always existed. They're making like a big deal. Like, oh, these are fidgets and it's good for kids to have stuff to entertain themselves with. We always did. I just sat there with like a paper clip for like an hour and a half. Yeah, but Mattel put out slime back in the 70s and then they rebranded it for he man. And then of course there was acto plasm. Sure. And there was there's the mutagenic ooze for the teenager. Oh, we, and then there it was in the, in the fucking quarter capsule machines. You got your slime. Like, I always had some sort of slime growing up. Yeah, we have an art of the girls hate it. They do not like slime when it comes. Now a lot of it comes in like the blind bag like egg stuff like those, uh, the fuck are they like the,
they're like little unicorn kitty corn things that come in little eggs and shit. And then they come with little packets and pouches of like little. Well, that's not new either. If you think about the acto plasm, they used to be a random ghost in each can of acto plasm. Oh, sure, but like this is now it's like just little random globs of, uh, Goof of slime. And as soon as they see one, they're like, oh, nope. And they just toss it. They only want to touch. Yeah, because wrong with you, which I don't get me wrong. I'm glad it's not staining my carpet. But, um, But for my thing is like flown is like the pinnacle of like, uh, what's the sensory, uh, fucking stimulation, man? It was like the, the synapses my brain went firing off when I first started just kind of playing with flome. And I didn't like use the toys or do it just having it in your hand and just needing it and feeling it and hearing it. Oh, it's such a satisfying.
Oh, Huh. I think it was a, it was a hell of a product. You know, I didn't have any of my own. I, I, every now and then I'm like, you know what? I wish I had some flome just to, if you could just infuse your rage into the flome. If that's how it worked, you know, just kind of mold it. Mold it. Um, I feel yeah. Here is my first Nickelodeon pick. I see character watches featuring Snoopy Garfield, Buds Bunny, Barbie and more. The fun fashion statement for your wrist, Armitron, America's watch. It's the Strata Scooter with BMX style handler and the XB Series skateboard for the more daring. Both in hot colors or graphics and it's from their effects. It's Rizantel's Escapade Luggage Collection. It's a fun and inexpensive escape from traditional luggage, single jail molding and rugged construction contemporary design from Rizantel.
It's the Connaca A4Can. Uh, old horror of telling them what they win if they get it. The prizes, undoubtable there, which was cool to see when you're a kid, but as I got older and like in the early 2000s when they were replayed on Nick Games and Sports, on Nick Gas, seeing like the old prizes was really cool because that was like pre-internet where you could see it. It was everything from Toys R Us gift certificates, Sony Walkmans, Nash Skateboards, Sony Watchmans, Fisher CD players, Sharp VCRs, Conair, High Energy Personal Care appliances. British Knights. Panasonic, Isafone, answering machine, Carl Lormar, Home Video, Assorted Videos. RICO AF-30 Automatic 35-Mailer, Home Camera, the O-Ease Poplar, Tyco Garfield Phone, White Selectronics, Coin Master Metal Detector, Sanio Stereo Component System, the Atari 7800 Video Game System, the entire World Book Encyclopedia collection, an RCA XL-119-inch Color TV Squeezer.
Tooltex, sweatshirts and sweatpants. We're our music freshers this year, we're Tooltex. SwinTech, 300 DP Printing Calculator, Nash Locals, Only Skateboard, Bushnell, Astronomical Telescope. Levi's 501 Blue Gene Squeezer, a high-touchy 19-inch Color TV, Assorted Records from Electro Records, Ross Compact Lightway Bikes. What else we got? Bushnell, Spectacular, Learn Educational Projects, Microscope, Spanoculars, and Camera. Tyco, Mickey Mouse Phone, two-season passes for General Cinema Squeezer. That'd be a nice one. Yeah, that'd be fun. Conair, various electronics, the Rocket Stereo, tape player, Conair Phone, answering machine, high-energy phone digital alarm clock. Get Cheen On, Splash, Weatherproof, Binoculars. The Franklin Language Master, Electronic Dictionary.
This is Zuki Ultra-Synth Electric Guitar. Gift Certificates for various dollar amounts shown to KB Toy Store. The word was Electronic Dictionary from Franklin. The SK8 Slamplin Keyboard from Casio. I can go on all day. These prizes never end. The Fisher Price, PXL2000, Camcorder, and Mini TV. That thing was actually really cool. It was like the PXL2000. It was like a Toy Camcorder. People make movies with it now. The Apple Macintosh Plus Computer, an Image Rider II printer. The Grand Prize is Family Vacation, the Boinevista Palace Resort, and Spa, while it's Disney World Village. This was what I wanted. The FW Leisure Industries Inc. Mini Indy Racer Kitty Cars. That would have been so cool to have. They also have Mini Corvette Cars, a trip to Palm Springs, then promotional parting gifts that you got just for sucking.
Bubblegum and Life Savers. Hug a pet animal backpack. Nickelodeon, you can't do that on television. Green Slime Slamp. Green Slimes, shampoo. We have that. Reebok, watches, athletics shoes, and apparel. Bonkers Candy. Milton Bradley, assorted games. Skittles Candy. Sugar Babies and Sugar Datties. Necktoons, combination FM Radio Necklace. Tuba, Ruba, Game. Ray Band, Smart Start, Sunglass Collection. Acacia DW5200G Shock Divers Watch. Nintendo NES Video Game System. You get NES just for showing up. Lego Land Building Sets. Things Mini Games from Milton Bradley. Tico Super Turbo Hopper RC Car. Ten Gen Pac-Man NES Games. And then that's just double there. I could go all night with Super Sloppy Double there. We got some third party pirated Nintendo games for your NESes. Yes, Ten Gen, that Nintendo hated with a passion. But they gave them to us to give to you.
So here you go. Most of the stuff was given to them out of promotional consideration, which means they mention it and they give it to you and they don't have to pay for it. It's commercial. It's commercial. I always thought, who wants a bunch of encyclopedias? And then older me would be like, can I have a pretty cool to have? Now older me is like, why would I need encyclopedias? Back then, I went to my encyclopedias for everything. Oh yeah. You could still go by and say that the world book now is 22 volumes for this year. 13 hundred dollars. Jesus fucking, I guess if you only sell like ten, you got to really just... Price them up. Ah. Yeah, that's what Wikipedia's for. It can't be wrong. It's more right than wrong anymore. That's true. Ah, alright, Squeezer. That was my first pick.
Prices from Double There. Here is your second Nickelodeon pick. I never see. Ah, this is how I started out my mornings. I never caught the morning flipper, but flipper was played later in the afternoon too. Oh was it? Yep. I think I could look right here. Oh yeah, like two o'clock. Yeah, 6 a.m. flipper came on. And yeah, I was usually up. Yeah, I would get up around six,
because I wanted to either catch a... Every day? Oh yeah, like on a school day? You got up at six? At least, yeah. I slept until the very last... The bus was coming down the street, and I'd be getting up. Oh, I know that. Yeah, no, no, no. If I slept in, it was 6.30, I slept in. And then I was pissed, because that means I either missed flipper or Mr. Wizard. But yeah, I would be up, and I would make the most like, I would like, shit, I still... I can get like an hour, hour and a half of my day before mom's like, all right, get ready for school. So I make some breakfast, and you know, which might have just been... What do you call it? A toaster strudel, perhaps? You know, or you know, make some home fries or some shit. But yeah, watch flipper. Mr. Wizard. Lasty was also one of those, go to mornings, and then they also had, for a while, there's a big, rocky, and boobinkel craze. Yeah, that was in the 90s too.
Yeah. Yeah. And yeah, so... That also a replay. That also a Ru-Soh Rama arid at 6.30. I got a boobinkel, I got to find... Sure, I got a picture of it somewhere. I still have the rocky. At Christmas one year, I got a giant boobinkel, like stuffed animal, and he came with a little rocky Christmas tree on him. And that rocky, I still put on my tree every year. It's adorable. So... So... Wild and crazy kids. Yeah, the Friday day time, in 1995, Nick, I have this pulled up, because I was questioning what year we watched, Galagol Island. So I had the morning call, you know, that little book that came in Sundays, and the morning call. Oh, yeah. As soon as I saw that, I would go through and start highlighting my week. Ah, see, we didn't really need that, because we got TV God delivered to the house. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I think we got it free, because it worked. My dad's job. So Mr. Wizard was first thing in the morning,
6 a.m., and then Flip, or you said, then boobinkel, crazy kids, then your favorite show. We inerville. Wait, wait, wait, oh yeah, we inerville. Are you in fall of 1995? No, this is August of 1995. August, okay, so we're still in this. Gumby, Rugrats, Richard Scary, Muppets, Muppet babies, that's probably when they say Muppets. And then you got to skip around here. And then a Lager's window, at 11, 11, 30, go to Gullah Island, then lassie. Oh, lassie. I mean, how many shows did Nick have? Like, I mean, it was all old shows from like the 50s and 60s, where it's just animal-solved crimes. Mm-hmm. Yeah. It was like, I was going through, I was reading a list of like all the flipper episodes, and as always, like, there is a criminal on a boat. Flipper leads them to them, or something sank to the bottom of the ocean.
Flipper reached it. I did. I don't remember tintin' being on Nickelodeon at all, do you? I don't neither. I don't think I, if it was on, I probably changed the channel, because it irritated me. Hey, must've. I don't remember it at all, but this is the morning call, so this was our Nickelodeon, and it aired. No, no, yeah. I agree, and I had, I was going through the fandom rundown, and that's fairly accurate, as far as everything that aired. I probably switched to, what else, when tintin was on. Because what year was that? When was tintin taking on? I don't know, I do. I just, I didn't know of tintin' really until they did that movie, and I was like, what is this? And then I'm seeing that, it was, I'm fucking. I did not, like, he irritated the piss out of me. What was I probably? I did tintin', so it's 6 a.m. in the fall in 96. He came on at, at one o'clock in the afternoon
in the summer. There's also, there's also a point two where like, I became, I was at the news junkie. Are you watching, oh, just sent some time. Oh, well, that too, but yeah, I loved, I would love to action news. I felt like a grownup watching. You probably switched over to Jenny Jones on Channel 9. 18 was on, PHL 17. The Hawaii 50 was on 69. WSMZ. 18 wasn't so much morning programming. I'm pretty, I'm still in school. This is summer, I'm going to go for summer. Oh, you're talking summer. This is August 6 of 95. Okay. No, no, see, because summer wasn't, I was probably already, I don't know what I would do for TV in the summer in the morning.
This was like my, my preschool routine. That's, I don't know if I was getting up at 6 a.m. in the summer, maybe 630. I'd sleep in a bit. But like, for school, like I would get up as early as I could and try to squeak in as much of my day as I could before school. Oh, guess what was on at eight o'clock on page L17? From a show a couple weeks ago, Biker mice from Mars. Nice. That's what you asked on that show when it was on. Yeah, I was never getting up early in the summer. I was like, because I was looking to the, and Morning Clause that split up from six to 1030 and then 11 to like 430. So I was looking at the 61030. I didn't see Gallagher, Island and Allegher's windows. I'm like, no, we watch that in the morning and then saw that it came out 11 and realized I didn't wake up till like 1030 11. So that's why it seemed like it was in the morning. I don't think I've ever woken up at 1030 in the morning. Oh, God. Even in my worst, like when I would hang out with like you and Tommy at your house
and somehow still managed to be home. We were, yeah, we were up at Panera at like eight in the morning. Yeah, I was still up. But yeah, I would like, I love sleeping in. You don't like sleeping in? I love sleeping here. Oh no. If I hit, if I roll over and I see an eight on the clock, like I feel like I wasted half my life. If I would roll over and see an eight in the clock, I'm like, oh, I have like another half hour. Oh, no, it's a, and then the bad part is, I should sleep because, you know, we don't get home till like 11 sometimes and then you still go and live your life. So I might not go to bed till two in the morning. Yeah, it's not healthy. It's not, but, you know, It's why you can't remember anything. Probably. Your brain's not functioning right? Oh, absolutely, it's not. And it's just been replaced with the, you know, the, all my childhood nonsense that I've preserved over the years just got replaced with my current children's childhood nonsense. So, I can, I can quote the, you know,
well, we just saw the Paw Patrol movie today. Even though they're both too old for it, but they wanted to see it anyway. What? It wasn't, Tara, I had more fun just watching it and everything that I would see, because, you know, we grew up, our generation, well, the people that marketed towards our generation grew up with every cartoon just being a toy commercial. And I would look at Mrs. Squeezer and just laugh every time when they would do the big reveal and they just kind of hang on the shot of like, they're new base that they have, that kind of looks like a dinosaur that pops up or, oh, there's this awesome tree house that they hang out and has all these little, like, oh, I could see how that, that and that would make an awesome toy. They all have new vehicles, they all have new outfits. I'm like, oh, these guys are fucking geniuses. Ah, all right. Mornings, here is my second pick, where I really fucking slogging this one, huh? And now, because I was looking for,
I lost my fucking spot, Squeezer. Ah, here it is. If it's in the water, Flipper can find it for you. Flipper. Broom, broom, broom, broom. How do you make a dolphin noise? They're a dolphin noise for me, Squeezer. Hang on, give me a sec. Flipper. Flipper. I need you to go find my, safari window with all my tabs. I have open for the night show. What was that sound? Was Flipper caught on a fishing line? He's farting out of his blowhole. That's how he feels. That's how he feels about my window with my tail. My window with my tabs. What's fucked up though is the actual Flipper in the show that sound, that, that's actually a Cucabara that they then tweaked the audio for. Yeah, because this doesn't sound like it's Flipper in the commercial. So they're like, oh, dolphins really sound like birds.
Cucabara sits in the old gum tree, Mary Mary King of the bushes. He, ah, of course. Cucabara, it gave your life must be. You know that's a, of course, the thing that, school. Here's my next pick. You ask government prevent this kid from playing the violin. Answer on NicknewsW5. Question, what does it really take to be on MTV? Answer on NicknewsW5. Question, where can you find 28 kids cleaning up 300,000 square miles? Answer on NicknewsW5. The Who, What, Where, When? And why of your world? It's what you want to know. Saturday at 4-3-central, where on NicknewsW5. Did you watch NicknewsW5? Oh, absolutely. I knew you did. Now, here's the funny part about this thing, my pick. I always wanted to, and the idea of NicknewsW5 seemed interesting to me. And if I was not a truthful person,
I probably would have said, I always watched it too. But I fucking got so bored with it. I, Linda, LRB, no thanks. Fuck off. I never watched it. But I like the idea of it. It was so cool. She's got Bill Clinton on there. She's doing a big thing with something on, you know, Linda, LRB, was doing the whole W5. They eventually dropped out who, what, when, why, wear format. And how? And how. Yeah, I didn't freaking ever watch this. I basically just brought it up to, I knew you were big. Oh, yeah, I loved it. I thought you were more into the Walter Cronkites of the world than the Linda LRB is, but. I would do both. But I would. I eventually did very quickly move on from this to, like, just real news, because that's where I, and look, I didn't watch it to be informed. It was an action movie. You know, it's a local Philly News, and it's just blood and
it's a horror on the streets, you know. Yes. Yeah, and especially in the 90s, too. There's literally a mob war going on in Philly. It made for great TV. Yeah, I apparently, on 1993, an 11 year old Megan Markle, who's an actor and married to one of the royal weirdos. Yeah, they're moving back to London, aren't you excited? They're, why aren't they living in London now? Where are they living now? Yeah, because there was a hole falling out with the Queen because he was within the Queen dead. Well, yeah, yeah. But then, you know, there's falling out with the brother, and I don't know what the hell the dad does, but probably just covers for his brother. I don't know anything about the royals. Andrew is a friend of someone that owns the family. Yeah, it's an Epstein guy, yeah. Anyway, the 11 year old Megan Markle was featured after writing letters to get a company to change and I'll tell him his commercial she viewed as sexist. There's Polypocket.
There was a whole episode on global warming, and I remember this one in 93, a planet for the planet, a global warming for kids around the world. It was trying to push back the ozone there. Wait, wait, wait, you're saying that this was in 1999? This isn't some just, no, this is just some nonsense. Big demograph liberal hoax, it's not true. Very true, we love oil, drill baby, drill I say. That's why I have the biggest gas guzzling in the planet. I got, who did I get with it not too long ago? They're like, oh, with the whole global warming thing. Like, oh, so your pro pollution? No, no, no, we can't pollute. I'm like, it's the same fucking thing. I'm pro pollution. Of course you are. You're just like, I want to talk multiple times. I like your little piece of animal slurry.
That's what I wanted to do. I want to clean out the ocean, kill everything in it, clean it out, make it into a giant pool. I'll do it better. We're going to make it into a giant pool. It's going to be American flag blue. It's going to be very beautiful. It's a big reflecting pool. And there'll be a penalty of death if you piss or shit in the ocean. Oh shit, I'd be dead then after my last vacation. How many times did you shit in the ocean, Scoyze? I didn't shit in the ocean. But trying to explain to the kids, like, can we go back to the hotel? Why? I have to go potty. I'm like, one or two. One. I'm like, getting a fucking water. Oh, never, never have, never will. Oh my god. You're pissing in your own clothing. Yeah, and then it washes right out. What do you think a washing machine does? There's detergent in there, Scoyze. Yeah, well, there's more than detergent in the ocean. You're in the Jersey Shore. You're in a little bit of piss. There's plenty of piss already in my shoes. I don't go floating with that. Yeah. I just stay out, public waters.
Want to go to Beltsville? No. That's worse. Nick News Special Edition. My family is different. This was in 2002. Had one of the largest audiences in Nick News history. The show featured regular children talking about different family issues. They had a major effect on their personal lives, including hate crimes, child abuse, and sexual harassment. I didn't realize it ran that long. Yeah, its run was from 1992 to 2015. So, should a good run. Oh, they got a rebut- no, it's back up though. Yeah, it's back up 2021. It's back up, you know. Good fun. Kids are getting the news. It's fake news media. What are you from? Hi, I'm Mr. President. I'm from Nick News, W5. Fake news are the worst. You had Linda Ellerby in there. She was a very nasty woman. We did not like Linda Ellerby, very nasty.
Evil. Sorry for doing my job in depression. Here is your third pic. It's a black and white bull. And I'm on the list. Yes, you're right now here in the back. Why don't you told that there to where your grownups in W3 years? So we don't slide you in. Everybody say slide. Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! We have a bad day. What's it like to get started? Nick Lodin Game Labs. So yeah, I thought we were actually going to see like a taping of like double dare or some shit. And it wasn't. I was misled. It was still kind of cool. Oh, you went to this? Yeah, yeah, I was there. This wasn't my audio. Our tapes, our family tapes are lost forever. But yeah, Nick Studios, Universal Studios. Never been.
They didn't have, they have, you know, they taped the shows and that's where they get their live studio audiences. But they had so many people coming through that they made, they took a separate little room and a studio. And there were also days where they weren't always filming and just play game show games with the audience and kind of treat it like a live studio audience. But interacting with them and stuff and like so my sister and I we got to do the. Slingshot chickens into my mom and dad's hula hoop pants. Oh, nice. Yeah, so we got double that. Yeah, yeah. And I remember because. I was like, where are you from? And because you know, when you're from here, depending on where you're from, like you kind of sometimes generalized or you can get specific, whatever.
And I remember my. They asked my sister it's like, where do you live? And my sister's like, white hall. And I go, white hall. No one knows where white hall is. And they asked me, I'm like, where are you from like, Alan town. I'm like, generalizing and my mom's like, we're from the Lehigh Valley. So apparently there's three people all live in different places. And then they asked my dad and like, where do you live? And he's like with them natural shaman for like another year or two. But then how old were you when you were doing this? So I would have been 12. Okay. Yeah. You were this. This was 96. So January, January 96. So we were just talking the other day. Johnny was, they were talking about Orlando Florida at work. And I mentioned how I've only been to Disney once. And I was in 1992.
And the only ride I liked was 20,000 leagues into the sea, which apparently is gone. And it never went back. And I was tan and wasn't too impressed by it. But did you like these trips down there? Yeah. Yeah. I even liked the last one I went. Because now it's different. Now I'm like, oh, I see the joy in my children's face. But even then, yeah, I had fun. Jeffrey Saul. Oh, the first of all, you're not going to get anything. Look at the bugging thing. They're going to be going to eat afterwards. I know eating here. Third of all. I mean, look, by 96, yeah, I'm magic kingdom really. I wasn't it didn't really do much for me. But app caught. I thoroughly enjoyed because you know, I'm a little nerd. And 96, you would have been 13 going on 14. Right? No, that was me. That was me. 13. That's 12 and 12 going on 13. Yeah.
You're a third. But then we did a universal studios was there too. Universal was awesome at 12 years old. 13. Universal was awesome. Because you had the back to the future ride. You had ghost busters show. Did you go in the summertime or? No, no, this was like January, February. Oh, you fucking rich spoiled fuck. I don't say I was like, I added a good state pension. I think my grandmother, my grandparents, my aunt and uncle, you know, we all kind of chipped in, you know, we went as a big family. I got nothing in like this. We were the only kids. Yeah, we got to go to Nick studios and I got to play. And I got yelled at by one of the people because I was launching it too quick. And I launched a slingshot and I smacked her in a hand. She was trying to put the chicken in. I still remember her yelling at me. What'd she say? What, look what you did, you little jerk? Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, that's, so when I tell my kids, like, you know, look, you're going to forget things. It's not, let it go. Don't let it eat at you.
Just move on. And I still remember being yelled at by some, you know, teenager that's working. Yeah, you know, too. I've been like, the fuck are you doing? Just stop. Yeah, you little shit. Some fat little 12 year old trying to launch a chicken into his dad's pants. Well, at least he's not trying to eat it. It was, it was rubber. He tried. I tried. Oh, oh, he spoiled it all. Pratt. Yeah. But look, families are allowed to go on vacation. And it doesn't make me a spoiled brat. Yeah, but in the context of this show, it only exists as me and you. And we didn't do that. That's true. Hey, hey, I didn't get to go to Friendly's, so. That's true. We went out. Well, we go on vacation, but it was only for like two days. And it was only down to the beach and Rehoboth Beach because my mom, as a Gorfobic, as I am and my brother, as my mom, is the last final boss of a Gorfobic.
Yeah, she couldn't. I don't know if she hated being out or just hated being stuck in a room with all of us. Yes. Yes, probably. Because we rented one shitty hotel room for all five of us. And that was our vacation. Yeah. So, yeah, there's not a lot of vacations to be had in the in the Kelly household. But this seems fun. I can't believe you got to play double their game. Yeah, it's pretty awesome. I got I had the board game. Oh, I didn't have the board game. Yeah. It was okay. Not really. All right. Here is my next pick. Still to this day. When I walk on a windy day, I kind of hear this song on my head.
You know what this is from? No, probably not. Very few have the autistic love of the original Doug series on Nickelodeon. This is from my favorite episode, Doug's Lucky Hat. And it's the song that comes when it's the lucky hat theme, I guess. I just Google them. It's the lucky hat theme on there. And there's multiple people who have uploaded the lucky hat theme. Lucky hat song. And it's a great episode. Doug's walking with Patty and Skeeter and the winds blowing in gusty and this song is playing. And a hat comes and lands on Doug and Patty is the finder's keepers. And he trips Doug, pronouns pal. He trips and gets a playing card of a basketball player that's really rare and was missing from his collection. He just figures as it's a coincidence. Then he wins. He's at Skeeter's house. And he's a lucky collar 23 to win an autographed beat CD. And he realizes Skeeter's like his mom comes up and she finds his smash atoms triple 3D extra glasses while starting laundry.
So he's convinced that the hat is lucky. Then he has it in school and Patty lost her kidney pig, Hamlet. And Doug goes looking for it and hapless way and lands in the serving. Trays in the cafeteria and there's Hamlet. And then Doug's convinced that the hat is lucky. Then he says he's never going to take it off. He gets a puts him in one quarter and the gumball machine and gets a bunch of gumballs. He wins the large prize at the carnival. They do like a montage of his luck. He catches a fly ball during a baseball game. And he tells he confesses to Patty that he thinks it's lucky but not really. Then Roger steals the hat because he needs to take his biology test. And Doug feels helpless without his hat and tells Patty that he actually does believe it's lucky and that without it he's going to fail at everything.
And Roger comes out very happy about his D-minus that he got on his test. He says it's the best grade he ever got. And he said that it's his new thinking hat and he's going to wear it forever. But then Augusta won the song plays again and Augusta win blows the hat off his head. And it goes away. And then Doug just says guess it was time for someone else to have the good luck. Great episode. I love the Disney's dog Ron. I'm out Disney. Disney kind of wrote it. The Nickelodeon dog Ron. There's a lot of good episodes. But I think I like Doug's lucky hat the best. So yeah, that was my me MacGyvering an episode of Doug. No, no, I like that episode. Out of all like I'm not a big Doug fan. Just you know the whole coming of age thing you know how I'm like that.
But I do I do enjoy this episode. Okay then. Here is your fourth pick. This year it's not just big. It's big. It's Nickelodeon's big help weekend. Your chance to pledge your time and be a part of something really big. It kicks off Saturday on SNCC. Then all day Sunday the big callathon comes to you by from Los Angeles with host Michael Mallet stars and live music. And there's plenty to watch. The top 10 Nickdunes. The global got special Olympic edition. I'm never before seen Clarissa show and the best of all that special. Get in on the big helpathon starting today. 877. Michael Mallet. Was Mo there? Of course I remember the big help. I didn't watch it but I remember it being. Oh. Well you remember participating in the big help. No. No. It was kind of a big deal. This goes back to like the. I meant to say it during. The Nick news segment.
Like it almost felt like. Whereas like some kids programming blocks and stuff where it was just kind of cartoons. And I said before we even like started I was like a lifestyle or something. They didn't talk down to kids and it really they did a good job of actually even like. One giving him a forum and two. Like like almost like a little sense of community. Wait did you do this. I mean I didn't not directly. I mean I was fucking Boy Scout man. So I was doing this shit every week and regardless. I didn't do it for Nickelodeon. I was out picking out trash in the highway. I was clearing trails and you know helping people do stuff. Yeah. I was helpful. Yeah. So we did all you know all the Arbor Day stuff and. Earth Day you know all the cleanup kind of projects. I mean we did that on a regular basis. We were pretty active.
But yeah so I didn't participate directly but I always liked the idea of it and I watched. So was this a show. So it was it was an event that happened over the course of like a couple of weeks. They would promote the you know the send your videos and stuff and they would like with like interstitial stuff and. A little segments promoting it and then yeah and then they'd have almost like a telephone style. Event like a live stage event and I know one year is like Michael Malley and Jonathan Taylor Thomas was like the big star there. And then they have like some bands perform and stuff and then they roll in videos and bring out kids like oh look this kid planted trees. Yeah. It's like you know and then they then they also like squeezed in like you know. And programming in between to bolster that as well but yeah they kind of made it a big deal and it came. Then I went away.
And then it came back and then they kind of they used it around 9.11 to help like raise funds and stuff. They kind of just used the branding on it for like various charity purposes. Yeah I think they did it in 2010 for a bit and then kind of just kind of just faded away. It would be a good thing to bring back now. Big help. Yeah I just I remember being promoted but I definitely was not going to fucking watch it. Yeah use as a big help a thorn. Yeah. Yeah. This is a sense of community although kids don't need any more they could figure it out on their own. The ones that want to help you don't need some evil. Well yeah. It'd be under paramounts banter now so yeah maybe not don't bring it back. Um yeah don't bring it back. Fuck them. Fuck the kids. All right here is my next Nickelodeon pick.
What is Jack? I'm going to get some great stuff. Boozies. Jack is dizzy. You can pull it. Make Jack sounds. Oh broo. Suck it up and screw it up with a got back. Pop it up and blow it up with a got in flater. I never. Nickelodeon got comes in different colors. I see some places each old separately coming soon from the town. Disgusting. I had GAC and I had the GAC pack. And I wanted a lot of the toys but I didn't. I never had to smell my GAC. I was too old for that point. I mean 92 was a good age for me to make fart noises with slime but the GAC copier was pretty cool. You take drawings from a sheet of paper and you transfer it from the GAC and then to another piece. There's a copier. You use GAC to transfer the drawing from one piece of paper to another.
And of course the GAC VAC which is just like, looked like Rick Martell's arrogant sprayer. We just make fart noises with it. It was just disgusting sounds. I never had that. I never had the GAC inflator which you put GAC in and make a bubble and it burst. And I never had any of the GAC oids, the weird creatures they sold. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. And you could squeeze GAC through their bodies. GAC came out first. Then Flome came out. Your stuff came out in 94. And then they had Smud which was like Playboy Playboy Play-Doh. I was the one making Smud watching Playboy back then. Or I should say my own Nickelodeon Goose. Goose was a compound similar to GAC but more watery and does not make a farting noise when squeezed.
That's not fun. GAC's Splatballs. It's not like GAC but it shows a name. It resembles Cross-Poony GAC and Goose. It was not moldable. I don't know what the fuck. GAC scraps. Hardened scraps of GAC Splat held together. Nickelodeon Smatter which was an aerosol can like silly string but goo here in Messier. Recalled after reports that the cans breaking apart causing property damage in one laceration injury. There was Squeeze. Another marshmallow like Play-Doh and Squand which was like Magic Sand. Another Zazand which was another modeling compound. I did not have GAC but it's a original GAC. I never had any GAC proper. I mean it's just your dead I think. But yeah we didn't have any of the gadgets or anything to... Nope. Go with it.
One of those like... Is good Easter Basket toy I guess? And then you play with it in the fight. Stopping the Christmas stocking. Yeah stocking stuff or yeah. But yeah GAC that's my GAC story. Here's your last pick. Maybe I'm never going to get that endorsement but we might find some future superstars today on an all sports edition of What Would You Do? Stay where you are we're going to have some great stuff. What would you do? I forgot about this show and then I stumbled across and like I gotta talk about what would you do? I never watched what would you do. This was later right? I never watched this.
I'm gonna get captured my attention. I knew of it. It was all over the place. It felt like this was definitely an answer to the studio audience kind of programming. Because it was very heavy studio audience involvement. They were always bringing guests down in fact it got to the point where it was a Harvey had a contract dispute with you know this show. And so like they had a kid come on from the audience to just be the guest host. You mean announcing? Yeah well they called them guest host for the show. And it was almost like they would just throw anything out the wall. Originally started as the format would be like they'd pull the show a video clip of like an awkward situation which was usually Mark Summers and disguise around Universal Studios.
That's not Harvey it says it was Robin who Harvey was never on the show. It was Robin. I think it was like pre production like I thought it was supposed to be Harvey. It said Robin Morella left the series in 93 due to according to Summers disagreement over pay instead of a permanent replacement a kid from the audience was picked to be a cohost of the day for Amanda the series Ron. I'm a terrible cohost. I'm gonna start picking a kid every week to do this show with me. I'll go get one if you want. They're gonna be very confused right now. Uncle Ryan saying so many bad words. But yeah the original format the idea was that like they played this video and then they would pull the audience and like what would you do. And then that kind of evolved and just kind of filling the rest of the show with any kind of gross out studio audience nonsense they can do.
Like sliming people or taking them to the pie a mad which is a machine that would launch pies at their face and stuff like that. And there are at the end of the shows they would do the medley where they would have like like basically just dares and stuff like sticky notes on their head and like they'd have to perform it or they you know pie and stuff where sometimes it would just say markets pie and it was really the show kind of devolved into just what can we do for a half hour with the whole Nickelodeon vibe. And yeah there was no real I don't know if there were even prizes there's no real like point or to the end it really was just to entertain studio audiences and put a half hour of programming on here but I watched it. It's fun. I usually just wanted to see the pie a mad at the end. I am pretty sure Mark weiner took the idea for a weinerville.
You do like weinerville I love weinerville. Okay that's we got one more right me right. Are we done yeah we got one more despite the shows popularity some are some self hated hosting the program as you thought it was odd and didn't like doing Nickelodeon studios to work show yeah that's what it was. It was basically them just they taped you know what I talked about earlier they just taped it and put on air with it devolved into I didn't care for it. I didn't pick my interest a kid so I never watched it so if it was on I think I'd change it to channel came out around dinner I think right. No I'm sorry. It's alright here's my last bit.
I think I'll call for another elephant to come. Do you know this show squeezer yeah we all know Sharon Lois Sharon and Bram Sharon Lois and Brams elephant show. That's was a theme song but it's not what's most famous from this show squeezer. Uh huh we'll get to that though. Oh I thought we're gonna sing together. We will. The Sharon Lois and Bram elephant show was basically like Barney before Barney and it was better it was a Canadian show that featured these the three peace child's musical band which was Sharon Lois and Bram to women and a man. And they're non-human friend elephant who would be basically voiced by a tuba whole whole to convey his what he was saying in his mood and there's usually a bunch of children and the sidekick Eric Negler was the family entertainer and they would teach lessons to kids about like the ozone layer and the
schools and museums and dealing with arguments and fear of failure of plans. Oh man I should have paid more attention while I was watching this. And they encourage parents to vaccinate their children against polio mumps and rebella so maybe we should get this back on TV. And um episode each episode concluded with the song that we're about to sing along with them. This show is a classic good old Canadian. It's just one of the first Canadian shows that hook me. Then of course. Yeah so this is how it ended every episode. My sister and I would say this like together.
Yeah oh we all did yeah this was a great show. The elephant show. And um it was a classic I love the elephant show we all did it. It ran for a while and they made it from 1984 to 89 but it ran they ran that in like syndication. Um 65 episodes to get you got the most out of them. Only in Canada could they make this show. Absolutely. Um that's it that is our Nick Allodian show. We got it all in Squeezer. Next week we are back talking. Uh what do you got the bubble gum show. That should be fun. And then we're talking uh at the end of September and the close the end of September. New TV like new TV either a new show or a new season of a show like new episodes.
New TV in 1986, 96 or 2006. You could pick from any of those years. Um so we could go back 20 years 30 years or 40 years to talk about new TV shows. So we have a wide 20 years was 96. 20 years was 2006 Squeezer. Nah it doesn't make sense. 30 years was 96. 40 years was 86. And 50 years we were not born now. No. At least we got that going for us. But uh yeah then we have another show which I don't know. Yeah and then we start a Halloween programming. And don't forget to check out our case Halloween countdown on radyears.com. Keep up with me. Check back every day. I'm not posting every day but you never know. And um we'll see you next week. I'm OK. And I'm Squeezer. Bye everybody.
Bye.
