You Know Ball: A (Mostly) NBA Podcast — The NBA Drops the Hammer on the Clippers. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
What's going on guys welcome back to the UNO ball podcast. I am your host, Trill Brodude and the hammer has been dropped. I cannot believe that Adam Silver had the balls to do basically the largest punishment since Joe Smith with the Timber Wolves and a lot more than that on the Los Angeles Clippers. It seems like the only team that gets any sort of punishment under the Silver Dictatorship is the Los Angeles Clippers. We've been in the house by the way. Yeah, so I just have to make a quick announcement before we get into this. So, you know, I've given it a lot of thought and, you know, this is Will Nets Hater. The Nick fans are right, you know, the Nick's the Nick's are, it's the Nick's town, you know, the nets are never going to matter. The nets are poverty. I just, I don't see any point of being a net's fan anymore, you know, it just, it doesn't make any sense. So, I've decided just, you know, fresh start,
get on a new team, you know, there'll be so much more hope and optimism. The nets is just eternal gloom and doom. So, I've decided that from this point forward, I'm going to be a Los Angeles Clippers fan. Perfect. Well, you know what, you know what's never going to happen? Just say something got the Clippers, right? So, what, you get it? I haven't been on my phone today by the way. Oh, okay, good. Well, well, I can tell you this right now, I know you were really disappointed with the way some of the, like, net trades went and it was like really brutal to be a net's fan during those years, we just had no picks coming. Yeah. Like, that was probably like really bad to do that. Being the little brother to a legacy franchise in your own city, you know, it obviously, you know, having a very moral billionaire owner who, you know, would never do anything corrupt or illegal. I definitely think there are a lot of parallels between these two franchise and I'm glad that you could go support another team that has the stage. Just built their own stadium and is not looking down the barrel of years and years of mediocrity to
object poverty. Like, no, it's, it would never happen. I still cannot believe when I, I miss the news by a little bit and I came into the discord and saw everyone reacting to it and my immediate assumption was, oh, they got a slap on the wrist. Everyone is, you know, trolling Pablo Tori or, you know, they're saying, oh, you know, nothing really came of this. And then eventually I saw the shams tweet and I cannot believe, I mean, the financial stuff is whatever, like $30 million to Steve Balmer is like $10 to us. It might matter to a normal owner, but not to. Yeah, no, there is no amount of money they could have fine Steve Balmer for that could have really actually hurt him and made it in his pockets. But it is very funny to see the Clippers front office get suspended without pay the Clippers ownership group getting $30 million fine. Uncle Dennis get banned for five years
from NBA basketball activity and Kauai Leonard to get a $700,000 fine. And now look, the Clippers are the ones that knew that this was an issue. They knew that this could come back to bite them. They knew that this was against the rules. But Kauai Leonard is just getting away with murder. He's going to get traded to the rafters. He's going to have a $700,000 fine after making tens of millions of dollars on the books, tens of million dollars off the books, not having to deal with any of the draft pick ramifications from this punishment or any sort of real punishment from this whole thing. And ultimately, I look at the end of the day, the players of the reason that the league makes money. I fully support all of the labor shit. We go on and on about this all the time. Having said that, why does it not enough? How much fucking money do you need? Who knows gets all the credit for the perfect career? Because it just does what he wants.
If he spaces any struggle, he just quits. Harden at least quite us all that and doesn't even show up to work. He's completely stamped because it's 2019. So if he has a bad playoff game or anything, no one cares. Even more so if he doesn't play a playoff game, no one cares. He's played eight second round games since he's joined the clip. The way that people react to Kauai versus Joel and B missing playoff games is hilarious. Poor Kauai and then it's like, Mbid should kill himself. Really should be. And he's, by the way, Joel and Bid has played infinitely more playoff games in the last three years than Kauai leather four years. And he just keeps getting max money. So didn't you miss a whole year? Not that long ago? Like three or four years? He just missed the entire season. He missed a large chunk of a season. I mean, there have been multiple times where we thought it was over for Kauai and we're coming off a season where he was like a top five player in the league and is going to get another max contract. He missed the entire season.
It's third year on the Clippers. Like the first year fans were back. He just missed the whole year. Yeah, that was when they lost the play into the pelicans, I think. Yeah, that's correct. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, because the year before, if I remember correctly, they, it was he tore it. I think he tore his ACL in the. Yeah, that was first. Clippers jazz series. Yeah, I believe he's played as a member of the Clippers. It's just unbelievable when you consider everything that it costs to get Kauai Leonard with the Paul George trade trading, shake it up to sell, Alexander, all those picks. We find they even doubled down on it by making the James Harden trade and adding in another swap going to the Thunder this upcoming year and and sending out more picks to the Sixers and they're almost finally repaying that. And then we get to the end and there's more shit taken off the top and Kauai Leonard ends his career never having even played in the conference finals game with the Clippers and really only having played what 20 playoff games during his whole time with the group of 25. Okay, like, like, like, because so he
played as a Clipper, he played 35 playoff games. 13 of them were in the bubble. So he played 20. And that first year, I'm pretty sure the Clippers specifically for like a bunch of people have no fans. Yeah, because they're in California. They had stricter. He probably played like, he probably played like 15 playoff games with fans as a Clipper. Last time he played 70 games, his co-star Paul George on the Pacers. Who played more games is all of the... Well, let me just say this too. I can't believe that this trade happened like that. I had no idea that the Clippers paid such a hefty price. I wish there was a national media figure who really hated the Clippers who could bring this up from now until the end of time. Who would... By the way, the next low post is going to be... or whatever it's called, Zackelot Show is going to be generational. Like, Zackelot is doing an emergency podcast possibly right now on Netflix. I'm not sure he said he was going to do what at some point tonight.
There's a hundred percent chance he threw on thought it was a drought by future. Immediately when that when that punishment dropped because other than Will's Brooklyn Nets, I think the Clippers are usually at the getting the brunt getting the brunt of Zackelot's criticisms on the Zackelot Show. And I can't imagine other than Pablo Tori, probably no one else in media who is happier in this very moment. I mean, this is... I don't eat like people ask me like, what do they do? Because obviously everyone... Everyone is like, how do you get over this? How do you recover from this? The answer is you don't. There is no way to go about this. There's no precedent for like the Joe Smith thing. Yes, you can compare it to that because they lost five first round picks. Also, someone did point out earlier on Twitter that I believe they got two of those first round picks back. So maybe over time the Clippers can negotiate with the league and recoup some value from this or
whatever it is. But the Clippers... The Clippers already had traded so many picks that they're going to get an extra of a pick that they got in the zoo trade. Yeah, that was very funny. That wrinkle is another crazy thing. They're not just taking away their own picks in the 2030s. They're taking away a pick. They just got for a player who was on their team. That is certainly never been done before. Also, like you kind of can compare it to the Joe Smith thing. You know what happens? You miss the playoffs 15 years in a row. Like that's what the Wolves did. And you don't have Kevin Garnett, by the way. Yeah. Because the Wolves had Kevin Garnett and that kept them at a level of relevancy and competence until he was gone. And then after that, obviously they they suck. But that happens every time you trade away a player of Kevin Garnett's caliber. But they like crazy key. That's a long-term disrespect. Yeah, I was going to say best of luck to Keaton Woggler. I posted the photo of JFK cruising through Dallas. Like congratulations, Keaton Woggler. You have this amazing season in college. You're the fifth pick in the NBA draft. You know what I expected you to be this even a year ago. This is an incredible accomplishment. And by the way, even if you're good,
you're fucked forever. Darius Garland's agent, I know, is just doing the, the, uh, uh, Shawshank. Like, like, uh, like, hand-gum, because if you drafted one of the four point guards and picks five through eight, you kind of have to hate watch the other three. It's like now, like, now you start to feel bad for Woggler, you know, like the summer like hate watch was so good. And yeah, now it's just like, feels like bullying at this point. Well, you had, you had a specific angle on that too, because your team drafted one pick after you guys got Michele Brown and they took Woggler. And there were a lot of debates between those two. But now it like you said, it just feels kind of mean to, to root on anyone's downfall on that team because I mean, once again, I just don't know what pathway there is to take here. Like, I think you just try, try to be competitive and go back to building around a Brooklobe has low post offense. They have some very funny. I'll say this,
I'll say this. There is one appreciable difference between that minister. The Minnesota was in Minnesota. They are still at the end of the day in Los Angeles with an owner who is, and also they had a very cheap owner during that time period too. Yes. So like I do think now you just kind of have to build, like you're not going to win any championships. But I do think that they can have like a baseline level of confidence just by like being only pretty. I really think I just agree because there's no more tanking. So like, it's just it was so much easier to build like a 40 win team if you had no incentive to tank. Like that's God. We say that. But like it mediocrity like tanking has it really like worked for kind of like a long time. Like give a team a club every year though. Can I just do like one thing? I can say this all the time. The worst five teams in the NBA five years ago were the thunder, the rockets, the spurs, the pistons and the magic. The worst case scenario
of those is Orlando was Paulo and Franz and like every year people like you know like if they get healthy they can make the conference final. Like if you judge it on do you win multiple championships then there's no such thing as a successful strategy in the NBA. Like you have a wrong game. I'm saying more so. What I'm trying to say here more so is the teams that pull the plug every single year. Like what we had in the last two years where you have you have you have legitimately like five to nine teams that are just being objectively just not competitive at all and teams like the Clippers that were more middle of the road that were kind of play anish. You know they could farm wins during that time period in the season and that could end up making them a little bit more competitive. As the league gets a little bit more of a talent balance I do I do think that that is going to be harder when you have no draft picks. When right now like you look at their roster and like sure they have some very nice players but like look at the rest of the the
the NBA the talent across the rest of the NBA is just super strong right now we're going through somewhat of a boom in terms of when you look even at like teams that were be considered like the gutters a few years ago in like the true drags of the league like they're somewhat competitive rosters like they have more talent on those teams. So I do think it's going to be harder to get to that baseline level of competency just using free agency but if there is going to be one market that can do it and one ownership group that can do it it is the Clippers because that's what they've been doing they haven't hit on draft picks in years that's what's going to be my pick. Yeah that's what that was yeah cat picks to trade four players now they don't have that well that's somewhat a good point but but but I was get I would say that but but like at the same time like I just don't think like you can trade up you more often than not you're getting your
really good players your tent pole stars you're getting those guys like teams don't trade that they they change they don't change teams to free agency as much anymore we've gone out we've gotten away from that because of like the super max and stuff like that forecasting out though I think that that might change because I think teams are getting wise to the idea that you don't pay these guys that aren't like top five NBA players like the super max and guys are starting to get pissed off about that. I think that there's going to be like a little bit of a comeback to free agency. You're getting a lot more years or situations I think. Yes that's the yeah that's that's kind of more what I'm saying you're gonna have more like Jalen to Rens like you're gonna have guys like it's a bad example because the nicks just won the title but somebody like cat might be like available like not cat specifically because the nicks is it's a very specific situation but somebody like cat who's like kind of overpaid but it's still like a very good player like when Evan mobile is up for his next fight or something like that somebody's gonna need to dump money on
like some of these guys are gonna need expiring contracts and stuff like that I'm not saying the clippers are gonna be like even like successful playoff teams they'll probably be on the like Quittin Quitt treadmill with mediocrity but I don't think that they're like necessarily could just gonna be like one of the five worst teams in the NBA for like this entire duration. But I want to put I want to put a stamp on that I think they will yeah and I just don't think the treadmill mediocrity's a thing anymore first of all those teams are gonna win the fucking lottery now. Yes that's true. Now there's a little bit of teams are gonna be throwing playing games. Well it's like that down and looked at the no I know I know I was saying this when they did it it was driving me insane I was like this is so stupid as a flattened odds in your head and like oh like they'll be less disgusting tanky down the stretch but then like like like go to tank thought and run a bunch of sins you're like so well the eight seed gets the first overall pick like three out of ten times. Go back and listen to the episode where where this was happening because everyone was calling me like a moron because
I was like peep teams are gonna lose playoff games on purpose and they're like that's not gonna happen I'm like no I'm telling you that will fucking happen and it won't happen next year because it's a bad draft that will happen during drafts like the one we just had where there's like four fucking guys who are available like you can absolutely lose it makes sense to lose a fucking playing game like who why why else would you want to do that I will also say though the other thing though is that it also means that the good teams are not gonna be getting better so the cake like if you want to not be one of the five worst teams in the NBA you just got to be better than the Clippers and the Wizards and the our sign on the clip Kings the Wizards and the you know some of these other teams have less avenues to get better by that same token and a lot of those teams do not have the same free agency cloud that you have so yeah hold on real quick though real quick it's so hard to know the shit or now sorry we got this is this is this is going to be the major point I make on this yeah the even with all of the market in Los Angeles the credibility that
they've gained over the last 15 years after being the joke of the league for their entire existence basically the last 15 years they've been one of the more successful teams that have not I have no reason since I was in no great they've been incredibly impressive in how well and and that's great still like how'd they get James Harden draft picks how'd they get Paul George draft picks like Kauai Leonard's the only one that they got to go there and we are now learning that they were paying him off of the books which was a factor in that at a minimum and like I just think that building through free agency is easy in theory it is harder in like application and I think that even with all the advantages they have in all of these league trends that could break in their direction like having draft picks even if you're not good at drafting even if you don't use them it's just good to have for trades and making your roster better and that's how
they were able to do this for so long and help them even get guys like Marcus Morris and you know some of the guys that they made the moves that they made on on on the fringes were good the Derek Jones junior move was good Chris Dunn Nick Batum the zoo muskallotrade all great none of that really matters if you don't have the equity to get superstar players and the draft picks were used for them to go get the superstar players or you know two way star players and that was why they were able to build a competitive high floor team over the last you know six seven years you know the meme uh since they uh since since the Paul George Kauai Leonard thing it is just going to be much harder when you're starting with a roster that is built around Keaton Wogler Darious Garland whoever's left over on that roster and Janai Broom now it's second draft and I Broom maybe he becomes a superstar in a roster in a roster and I think they have Rui like
Miss that for a guy forgot that too so do we just think okay just real real quick sidebar on this do we think that the Raptors trade is going to go through in the way that it was okay yes because I am like or do the Raptors just go back to the table and be like why the fuck are we giving up all this shifka why you're not keeping it now like in an art again a meant didn't it get amended to give to give better shit to the clippers like wasn't the original tweet that it was like not as far out picks and then it got changed like it was gonna be like 27 and 29 and then it became 29 and 31 whatever that's what they should be aiming for because that's going to be the brunt of where they were like I still do it too but well that's what I was thinking I'm assuming that this punishment is kind of the the max of what they'll they'll actually get and they'll be able to they knew that those pictures trade was agreed to that I think there's a reason they did it this way like yeah yeah the reason I ask is because I everyone like their immediate reaction is like
the clippers are fucked but my thing is I don't think that they're like I still think they'll be just like a mid a below mid team this upcoming year the next year when the cell phones have their pick when the sixers have their pick I don't think that they're going to be like truly in the in-pissing shit until probably a few years from now where I do think that obviously you know they can be in pissing shit with these new lottery rules from the perspective of you know if you're a 35 win team and you jump up in the lottery it looks a lot worse if you're giving away your pick but I do think that the the the brunt of this probably will be coming in a few years from now when they're just not able to restock their roster via trades and via draft picks like when in the middle of that of that end of that window well you you go will and then I want to respond to trust thing with my I'm saying that the clippers not going to be that bad for a while I just I'm gonna read off this is the clippers favorite okay Rook Lopez Isaiah Jackson yeah and then it has
Bob Miller listed as their third string center he's like 104 yeah yana couldn't need an house or I thought he towards a CEO he did he did he did he did he let us know he it was not an ACL it was a he'll he will definitely be playing this year he he had him a lesser knee injury well then he's probably the fucking best center right now yeah I have surgery that yeah otherwise tonight I thought he was out for like this whole season I don't know yeah I also thought that for some reason I think it was his meniscus okay no he'll list Frank injury okay fine like he was he was like you know he showed some yeah but like I'm not saying he's great I'm saying I'm I'm sorry and then they're they're they're back core is Darius Garland and Keaton Longer like they're gonna be the worst defense in the league by a country mile and then yeah they could be pretty terrible and then I like I'm probably the lowest on Garland out of the three of us but it's like there's certainly good regular season player with shit you know like a rookie guard yeah and then two forwards who don't shoot threes angraume and Derek Jones and then no centers that can do anything
their defense is gonna be a disaster this year like definitely I mean you have that you have that combination then you have rui and angraume it's really just christened in Derek Jones junior who are probably in rotation I would imagine that they get traded at the deadline this upcoming deadline I really like Derek Jones junior I'm my I'm always saying if you want your team to trade for her Jones you should just go get Derek Jones junior instead Derek Jones junior and christen are both on expiring contracts so I would imagine that they get moved for second round picks at the that the clipper sub says Neater Housers expected back sometime in December as it like okay so this Frank injury is longer than I thought um he apparently tore ligaments in his foot so that's not great the the Liz the Liz Frank injury is pretty good I think we're probably confusing it with the brace belt and injury which is usually out of that season anyway let me just I just want to risk I want to give you my version of this trope because I like
I hear what you're saying you're let me lay out what how I think this is going to go for the clippers like writ large okay because right now they're gonna be like a probably like the hornets last year if not a little bit worse the problem is the west is like kind of bad and it's kind of hard to like tell who's gonna be like I can't tell like are they gonna be better I don't think I mean or maybe record wise they're like the hornets but I yeah I mean that hornet seemed last year was pretty good it was better net rating than the 2023 nuggets that's also true they were like demons halfway through the season I get it but then also mad that they got exposed to the second they started playing real teams so like I bad example my point here is that they're going to what you're talking about the low middle team right like they're I they're probably not going to be a play in team this year but like maybe if everything goes right something like that they could be like the 10 seed yeah there's something like that so they're gonna be in that situation like that here is here's what I'm what I would be doing if I were in that clippers front office right now is
trying to do kind of what the nets did but you're doing it in a different cap environment where you're basically using your team to farm rotation players for for good teams right you're basically trying to like Rui Hachimura you're trying to make Rui Hachimura look like really good and then trying to trade him at the deadline to like I don't know the nuggets for us I'm not obviously that's just the player that they have in their roster now yeah can they acquire future players via free agency or a bit of them Rui Hachimura if they can clear some cat space yes I understand what the point you're saying is the issue with this is that they're you're never going to get a first-round pick for Rui Hachimura in the same way that in the past we would see these trades like for example when I made earlier Marcus Moore was traded for a first-round pick we used to see these guys that were you know fringe starter type guys that would get first-round picks via trade and now it's like second-round picks and I think that with the way that the draft is moving with NIL there
are just going to be certain years where the second round is just fucking dog shit and there are like legitimately there's very ever rarely multiple high-level pros in the second round as it is you're really only getting you know bench players and sometimes if you're lucky you'll get a starter and occasionally you'll get a star if there's some crazy outlier but my seconds are just less valuable now than I think that they have been in the past now it doesn't hurt to go get second-round picks because when you have no draft capital you need to get whatever you fucking can to make other trades and to also build via the draft when you don't have first-round picks but my point on this is that like I just think that that is this strategy is just incredibly hard when you have no first-round draft capital I'm not arguing that it's not going to be like harder for that obviously the draft picks are good the sheer the what's the the word I'm looking for the the the rascade rascade means truthfulness the the um not variety you know the fucking word
I'm yeah the oscillation whatever the fucking the the thing that that makes out variance fucking Christ the variance like that you get from draft picks is obviously what the the thing is and that's what makes you like a real team because you nailed like a the 20th draft pick turns into like a fucking all-star and that's like what makes you a good team so they're not going to have that which is why ultimately this is going to be bad for them but like to continue my point though here is that I think that we are going to a cap situation where like nobody uses cap space anymore and cap space has been dog shit for so long that I think we are kind of due for a zag where if you're the only team with cap space it kind of starts getting valuable again because teams don't want to pay the luxury tax a lot of these guys are still under like really expensive contracts and I don't think it's crazy that they get like they're an upsigning like Jamal Murray or guys like that like it's not really not especially if you can give them contracts off of the books where
they're getting sponsorship haven't haven't we been saying that though like oh there's so we have and there's like and but like as as we get further into the second apron there's just going to be further fewer and fewer of these I mean the Christian brown contracts kind of an exception but there's just going to be fewer of these toxic deals that he and I we say there's always someone stupid though there's always there's always I always think that we're going to get away from I thought about this like in the 2016 draft like I was like okay well we're never going to see anything as bad as like Evan Turner like ever again and it just keeps like fucking happy we okay we have it though there was like there was like 20 of them that's on there there was a lot of them but we do imagine the slops dream for that that was been I was I was like losing my mind on that one sad that it didn't exist back then yeah but but I I don't know like I think we give front offices too much like credit because I think by definition there has to be a stupid front off very I agree like like like as we as we will get into when we do our bad hold on before as
we get into our bad GMs coming up here we pointed this up before and I think it is the case maybe it's because GMs just generally have a shorter leash nowadays than they used to like back in the day or maybe it's because teams are just a little bit more conservative in general but the bad moves don't seem quite as bad I would say post really the Paul George Shagil or Zalexander move yeah which I think even people justified at the time now there are literal moves here and there where you can be like you know the yeah it's more than a thousand paper cuts than hilarious yes exactly it's never never what then when we get into what the nets did during that time period like there's just no front office that even compares that and like said like I like the leakers the leakers kind of committed Harry carry this off season in a pretty funny way like I'm not I think the way that they traded those draft picks was reckless I wouldn't have done it I don't think that the Walker Kessler contract is as bad as everyone is saying it is
I just think playing with Luca and and having a center that that is that level I think it's going to be a slight overpay I think that the the draft capital that they gave up to do it is fucking batch it insane when he's a restricted watch and get the this is speaking of the Walker Kessler thing because they the a lot of the NBA podcasts now have sort of been talking like who the the sons and the blazers were the last two playout teams last year you kind of have to pick two shitty teams to make the playoffs in the West like the top six very strong and then it really falls off and they were talking about by the way just real quick before you get into that that's why I thought the Clippers could be aggressive at this deadline if they had picks yeah and be like fuck it let's just go for it and go get a guy get go get herb Jones or something and now it's like they have nothing to get the jazz center depth is appalling it's literally like Nurgish and Jackson Hayes it's one of those things it's one of those things where it's not just a Kogi you had to do the Walker Kessler thing because they made their team really weird now but they made their team
obviously worse for the interim with the ability to improve it sometime in the next year or two and I think that you should put them on the short list of teams that could do what the Clippers could possibly do I thought they could have done going into this year because their owner seems to be kind of gung ho on them being like a competitive play in they should go get a normal center like even somebody who's like kind of shitty like like like goga or something like just go get a normal center because they have no I absolutely think that they should be should be trying to do that but this Clippers think it's fucking insane I just wanted we obviously had to talk about it up top like there's really nothing poor Rob Flom you know my yeah the Clippers are our identical disgusting twin brother on the other side of the country I was going to say for a little bit it looked like they were a little bit six years a little bit nets and now I think they're they're full nets and the the the the the seismic like in that one summer both New York and LA basketball looked like it was
shifting and the universe stepped in in ways we make 2019 summer they're like nope where will be a like we're gonna make up scandals that have never happened before like the rise of fascism will happen in the blink of an eye we will live in a hellscape amazing incredible by the way before we get into our worst thing here do you Sam do you want to apologize to public or should I do it for you okay I mean I I remember having this argument and I was like there's no way this could be a slap on the wrist and then as it went on longer and longer I was like I guess it just is gonna not they're kind of just trying to get done I mean I think the league I was your argument and I was like there's no way because I just what Dremond was saying on his podcast is exactly the argument that I made
which was if you do this every team is gonna do this and they're never gonna be able to do it anyway I but this is the thing I don't I don't and I don't think this changes anything I think teams are gonna keep fucking good and yeah I'm saying in our the the nicks got away with this because they just hired uncle Dennis to be the G.A. I mean the sixers have fucking Michael Rubin who used to be a part owner doing stuff with fanatics with LeBron like there are ways around this and I'm sure teams do this too and it's then but hold on hold on the differences that if if any of those sponsorships are under federal investigation by the SEC and shit that obviously it's gonna be a red flag and get on the NBA's radar and I'm sure that will happen to my cool proof of what's out of the clipper said that the discord was like if LeBron ends up an owner and the commanders I want gains his head on a stick I said this I'm not even kidding I said this fucking like literally when it happened I was like keep an eye on that five years from now if
LeBron and Rich Paul are minority owners of the Washington commanders that that definitely will have been in the work since this whole thing went down I'm just saying it is a little bit. Well here's I mean here so here's the thing again public Tory is correct to like investigate all of this stuff this is nothing against like public Tory or like his investigative thing it's just I just personally don't care and I guess that that's like maybe like more about me I thought this whole thing was like rush a gate like I understand that I just I someone has yet to like explain to me why this is like will get anything else that has happened to getting Sam to care about anything that has happened in the NBA since 2022 is it's hard to do. Let's put this in a way okay imagine losing Marcus smart
What on season. Well surely we don't get the first time like we'll play on the league back that all our racist fucking fans think is awesome because he had one good game once in the lowest leverage fucking final in the NBA finals the lowest leverage from the whole time and he didn't play any other against them but honestly though like I guess my thing is like nobody gave it like like I I understand like Robert Sarver having to like sell his team was like a real like news start and this is important obviously to like the league what I don't understand is why people are treating this like it's like it's like it's a pretty it is a pretty big deal and it's a pretty big deal for like the NBA but I've seen people being like well like I understand that there was something weird going on with the scoreboard that might have like actually been illegal but like this is like a violation of like the NBA's like Mickey Mouse like employee rules this is basically like a
very high stakes version of like use it shoot up microwave fish in the and you heard it here first there should be no laws for millionaires. The whole thing we gotta get going and I'm stealing this idea I don't know who originally said I saw there's only 29 first round picks now NBA cup winner gets the 30th pick there you go that's a brilliant idea I I want to like be entirely I'm not going to bat for any it's just it's weird that it's just this story like I because I know for a fact this stuff happened a year the time I'm not I but the league drag you out for a year made it a bigger story than it is if they put this punishment on the clippers it would have absolutely been a big deal but the fact that they waited a whole year to do it it's people have been talking about it for a calendar year now and that is like I can't again credit to poplatory because he just lost a pep die well he didn't let it die I think they were trying to like way out and he's also kept dig he kept digging further and further and further and finding more shit that would cut indict them and that ultimately is what you know happened here
and real real quick absolutely last thing before we get into what what's that saying I just I I my thing about this is I think that people are using this as a wicker man for what they would like to happen in the country because we live in the country of no rules so this thing that is like relatively minor it is nice to see like a little bit of jutter being enacted and like a little I think that's why this is like a bigger thing because people want to what it represents yes this is what I'm saying yeah Robert Mueller and the court of law there's a saying this is rush a gate this is where we finally got left harness and and and don't danger is Donald went to went to prison and now we live in the the game same and I asked him this one question before we move on who makes a conference first the clippers are the kings the the clippers and it's like not close I'm sorry the how old is the clippers are hurt does he have children this the kings we will never
happen again okay although I will say it was very funny to me to realize that the kings have been in the conference finals more recently than the 76ers I was gonna say the sixers haven't yeah and yeah and the next had won had made the conference finals the previous year they had the longest drought of teams that have made the conference finals in the last like I think the wizards in the war yeah I think he said of a long he's the wizards because then there's the hornets and then think the pelicans have just never made one before we move on I did I've been bookmarking this one from Josh because I really I also read this and I really love this line except full responsibility for lapses and judgment by people within my inner circle yes incredible incredible yeah I will just I accept responsibility for lapses and judgment of other people it's so fucking awesome like that is so cool that's very I can't hate it I was gonna say I can't hate it bad like I understand like clippers fans can hate it like I mean I would fucking despise coiliner to find it was like I mean they don't really have that like that's cool imagine this
happened like a team with like a big fan days the return like the lakers yeah yeah but even like really I'm thinking more like like northeast like the six-year-its-a-sales experience oh sure yeah yeah and like how the reaction would it would be like LeBron back to Cleveland level velocity yeah it would be it would be a content nuke all right hold on real quick wolf ass here uh should I have a membership through youtuber patreon what pays better I always plug the patreon for a reason they give us a higher cut than youtube does so uh if you have the youtube one I'm not mad at you at all thank you for paying but uh we're gonna hire uh you at it you can I know it's it's Google takes the fucking money Google gives you a lesser cut which is why I have to charge a dollar more and we get less money from that than we get for the patreon so I was a patreon is a better it's a better deal better the other people he respects the least I'm putting tariffs on the patreon you will never get paid back true trill sends me the list of all of you who subscribe to the youtube and I repeat all your names to
me myself I mean you really did put it on you like yeah there was a cost to you so you pass no no hold on hold on hold on we still make less on that than we make on patreon even with it being a dollar more so fuck youtube but they did give us a bonus to convert over there so uh that's what I did it in the first place because because this this whole thing was about like the this whole thing was about the mba like kind of enforcing their rules on like other like NBA players do we think that this leads to an up up up taking like snitching like interowner snitching on each other Gilbert or Gilbert orina said there's nothing wrong with telling I mean dude no first off the I'm telling you just based on shit that I've heard from people in the league yeah they like front offices fucking try to snitch on each other all the time now I don't know if it's about this stuff because maybe they just kind of have an unspoken agreement that they all do a little bit of this and they just went way too far with it but the like for example I know for a fact that there's
one uh let's just say older gentleman in an eastern conference team that was very upset over a bucks sign in trade that fell through years ago and complained uh you know just relentlessly to the front office of the mba until there was a punishment that came down so they're always constantly snitching on each other yeah the pro boxer who's in the entire yannis trade package for the gary trend juniors signing well that that's a different thing that's but this is what I'm saying though like I mean that's obviously something happened there will will that you know like poplatory probably will shock me if they lose something why is it poplatory looking into the thing that the mba is investigating about gary trend juniors well this is what I'm saying why not say I'm not saying he should do that he's not doing that because
it's obviously boring but I'm just saying like it's just let's just be on it like you know and I'm saying because nobody cares that's that's my my thing is when this stuff is left to when nobody snoops around and this stuff nobody gives a shit you know and I'm saying like that's looking into it oh I you know I really gave quite a bit of shit when jalen brunson took less money all the yeah everyone was very mad about that um to also to be fair I mean whatever we're not gonna give it to you I could also just be wrong I just I found this story incredible because I don't have a I don't have a horse in this race so I just found it boring and I've been annoyed I'm always annoyed when a story hangs around like too long in the mba like and I was just like okay let's wrap this let's wrap this shit up well it's also possible that the mba discovered all this stuff before Pablo Torrey did like yeah maybe it's possible that the that the the people that they had working for them discovered more shit and then Pablo was getting other stuff as it came in
later down because some of this stuff he didn't report until this summer so you know it's possible that those investigations opened some things up for him by the scenes they probably did yeah the original thing was obviously all him and then since then there has been all we're all sick and tired of the same talking points and talk about the same things that have been rehashed over and over again so let's get into that the Brooklyn nets are poorly run and that really finally let's let's get those Brooklyn nets let's get let's finally bring them bring them to task something that's never been done you guys know Billy King wasn't a good GM did you hear about this folks have you heard this one quote here's this one
