It sure has developed a strange affection for secrecy whenever Epstein enters a conversation. The White House has actually called itself the most transparent administration in history, which is a hell of a boast when you consider what we're watching happening in real time. The apparently transparency means releasing whatever you feel comfortable releasing, congratulating yourself for it, and then slamming the door when somebody asks for something you'd rather not hand over.

3:10That's not really transparency where I come from. That's, you know, public relations. You can put whatever shiny label you want on the bottle, but eventually somebody is going to open it up and smell what is actually inside. And when it comes to Epstein, the smell has been coming out of Washington for a long damn time. We've spent years being told that the government wants answers just as bad as everybody else does. And then somebody asks for the records, somebody asks for cooperation, somebody asks for an actual investigation, and suddenly everybody in charge develops a bad case of fucking lockjaw. If this is what historic transparency looks like, I would hate to see what they consider secrecy. Now, the latest example is in coming from a bunch of anonymous accounts digging through screenshots at three in the morning. It's coming from law enforcement agencies and allied European countries that are actually investigating leads, you know, connected to Jeffrey Epstein. Poland says it requested unredacted Epstein material from the US in April and hasn't received a response.

4:15Norway says the United States has not approved its request for information. Latvia says it sends several requests for mutual legal assistance and has received no response. British authorities have also sought unredacted material from the United States for an Epstein-related investigation. Yo, these are our allies asking our justice department to help them investigate crimes and possible wrongdoing connected to a man whose entire operation was rooted right here in the United States. They're not asking for nuclear launch codes. They're asking for Epstein information. Yet somehow the most transparent administration in history can't seem to find the fucking envelope. And I think that that should make every American mad no matter who you voted for. Epstein wasn't some European problem that washed up on our shores one afternoon. He was born here, operated here, recruited here, trafficked here, accumulated his wealth and influence here, and spent decades rubbing elbows with powerful people right here.

5:17American prosecutors investigated them. American federal agents seized his records. American courts handled his cases. American institutions fell to his victims over and over again. Now governments overseas are trying to chase down the pieces of this mess that landed in their countries and they're asking us for help. What are we doing? Making them wait? After everything this country already fucked up involving Jeffrey Epstein, apparently we still have not figured out how to simply hand investigators the information that they need. And Poland is not fucking around about this either. Polish authorities opened an investigation after information from the Epstein material raised questions involving their own country. Prime Minister Donald Tusk publicly said Poland would investigate possible connections involving Epstein, including questions concerning Russian intelligence. Prosecutors then sought unredacted American records dealing with Polish aspects of the case. Months later, they're still waiting.

6:19How many times have Americans been told that the reason more people were never held accountable was because prosecutors needed more evidence? Here you have prosecutors saying fine give us the evidence and suddenly the government holding that evidence seems to have trouble answering the phone. Yo you can't spend years telling people nobody can be prosecuted and then drag your feet when another country actually wants to investigate. Now Norway has its own investigation moving forward and again the United States possesses information Norwegian prosecutors want. Norwegian authorities have pursued cases involving prominent figures whose relationships with Epstein came under scrutiny. There are prosecutors as they're communicating with American officials but that the United States still has not approved their request. She called the situation very unfortunate for the investigation. No shit, it's unfortunate. Investigations tend to work better when investigators can obtain the evidence that they're asking for.

7:19We constantly hear politicians talk about standing shoulder to shoulder with our allies when it involves wars, sanctions, intelligence operations, trade agreements and everything else Washington considers important. Apparently Jeffrey Epstein falls into some special category where everybody suddenly needs to move at the speed of frozen molasses. Funny how that keeps happening with this particular fucking case. And that of course brings us to Latvia. And Latvian police say that they have identified a Latvian victim connected to their investigation. They've sent several requests for mutual legal assistance to authorities in the United States. They say those requests have received no responses. There is an alleged victim sitting in the middle of that sentence and somehow the government bureaucracy still manages to make itself the main character. How many decades do survivors have to spend waiting for powerful institutions to do the right thing? How many times do they have to watch governments talk about justice while information sits behind a desk somewhere?

8:21Epstein survivors already learn what government delay looks like the hard way. They live through sweetheart deals, sealed agreements, hidden negotiations and years when powerful men had every advantage in the world. Watching another government office sit on information while investigators ask for it is not going to inspire confidence in anybody who's followed the story for more than five minutes. Now Britain's dealing with the same bullshit from another direction. British authorities sought unredacted Epstein records connected to an investigation involving former ambassador Peter Mendelssohn. The formal request followed earlier discussions that did not produce the information investigators wanted. Stop and appreciate how ridiculous this looks. Governments in Europe are looking at American Epstein material and deciding there is enough there to warrant further investigation. Meanwhile the country where Epstein built the damn machine seems determined to convince everybody that there's nothing left worth investigating and that disconnect is impossible for me to ignore.

9:27Apparently Europeans can look at these records and see investigative leads while DC looks at the same universe of evidence and somehow sees a close book. Either our allies are wasting their time or somebody in this country ought to explain why we are not showing the same curiosity that they are. Look, I've covered this case long enough to know what the government sounds like when it wants the story to go away. First comes the giant document dumb then comes the victory lab then comes the declaration that everything important has been released then comes the chorus telling everybody there is nothing new here. Then comes the people online repeating that message so relentlessly you would think somebody was paying them by the syllable. The argument eventually becomes that continuing to ask questions is itself suspicious. You become the conspiracy theorist for noticing the holes instead of the government being held responsible for leaving the holes there. I've watched that trick play out with Epstein for years and I'm not buying it. Yes, millions of pages have been released and I'm perfectly capable of counting.

10:31The OJ says it published nearly three and a half million pages under the Epstein file Transparency Act along with thousands of videos and roughly 180,000 images. Great. You could dump 10 million pages into the public square tomorrow and still leave unanswered questions sitting underneath the pile. I care about what is there, what's missing, who made the decisions, who was investigated, who was not investigated, and why. I care about why governments overseas see more interest in following some of these leads. Then the people sitting on top of the largest collection of Epstein evidence in existence, and saying you released 3.5 million pages, doesn't answer any of that, and you know what else is wild? That people pretend that curiosity about Epstein somehow has become unreasonable. This is Jeffrey Epstein we're talking about, a convicted sex offender who surrounded himself with billionaires, politicians, royalty, academics, bankers, lawyers, businessmen, diplomats, and people with connections.

13:41To some of the most powerful institutions on earth. He got one of the most infamous sweetheart deals in modern American criminal justice. He returned to federal custody years later, and died before his case, ever each trial. His associate, Glenn Maxwell, was convicted of helping recruit and groom minors for abuse. Banks paid enormous sums to resolve civil litigation, tied to their relationship with them, survivors fought for years, just to drag pieces of the story into daylight. And I'm supposed to believe the crazy people are the ones who still have questions? Yo, I've said for years, the most important part of the story is not some mythical piece of paper, with the words clientless stamped across the top. That was always a convenient distraction. The real questions are sitting in the relationships, the money, the introductions, the travel, the recruitment networks, the financial institutions, the fixtures, the employees, the assistance, the lawyers, and the powerful people who kept showing up around Epstein long after nobody could claim that it didn't know what kind of man he was, and reducing the entire scandal.

14:48To whether somebody found a neat little list was a brilliant way to make the public argument stupid. If there's no list, then apparently there's no scandal. If there's no list, then apparently nobody else deserves investigation. If there is no list, then Epstein somehow traffic girls into a fluckin vacuum. That has never made sense, and it still does not make sense. Now throw the influencer world into the mess, and tell me I'm supposed to pretend everything looks normal. For months I watched supposedly independent political accounts carrying the administration's water on Epstein. And data of public in was one of them. When the administration line hardened, the same voices hardened with it. When Trump wanted people to move on, they found reasons people should move on. When skepticism toward the official story became politically inconvenient, questioning the story suddenly became something to mock. Then we learned that Jennifer Pounds, the woman behind data republican, was actually working for the federal government as a special government employee at the Pentagon.

15:51The Pentagon confirmed the employment, and Pounds herself said she began working there in July, after previously being part of the Pentagon press corps. I smelled something rotten with these people, before that revelation ever came out. And I trust my nose a hell of a lot more today than I did then.
