About this episode
David Rygalski has an incredible history as a writer in both the Late Night genre and show itself. As a college student who voraciously consumed the first couple years of Late Night with David Letterman, 'Riggs' did what thousands dreamt of doing-he joined Late Night as an intern, and was then hired on. In part one of this fascinating conversation, Dave tells Mike all about how he landed the show as an employer and about his time working there. They discuss his evolution from the reception desk to writer's assistant, to becoming a full fledged writer, and many of the adventures in between. Riggs had multiple on screen appearances on Late Night and many of them are discussed. We will link to some of these appearances in our Facebook group. This episode culminates with Dave talking about working with Calvert DeForest on the road for over 6 weeks during the famed 'Pan American Goodwill Tour.'
