LaGuardia Airport is shut down following a deadly collision on a runway during a plane landing late last night in New York with the latest Scott Pringle. Port Authority's executive director, Catherine Garcia, says an air Canada plane was landing when it crashed into an emergency vehicle on the runway. That vehicle was assisting with an incident with another plane. This was 11.40 last night. Sadly, the two pilots are confirmed deceased. 41 passengers and crew were sent to the hospital with some of the injuries serious. Here's audio from air traffic control.
Stop truck one, stop truck one, stop. Don't wait until three go around, runway heading 2000. The NTSB is on scene and investigating LaGuardia Airport is closed until at least two o'clock this afternoon. In New York, I'm Scott Pringle. White House borders our Tom Holman, says immigration and customs enforcement agents will start moving into airports today. He added that ice has been at airports across the country for a long time and says that agents are well trained to assist in operations. Holman did not specify which airports that agents would be sent to first. Iran is refusing to back down after President Trump issued a 48 hour deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, more from Tammy Traheo. Trump threatened a major strike in Iran's power plants if Iran doesn't comply. A spokesman for Iran's military, though warned on Sunday that if his country's fuel and energy infrastructure is attacked, Iran will strike the same type of facilities used by America and its allies in the region.
The president's ultimatum came as global oil prices continued to soar with the war in the Middle East now entering its fourth week. I'm Tammy Traheo. Oklahoma Republican Senator Mark Wayne Mullin is one step closer to joining the Trump administration. Mullin is set to be confirmed this week as the next Department of Homeland Security Secretary following yesterday's procedural vote by the US Senate. I'm Michael Kassner. Jason Momoa says he and his family evacuated from their home in Hawaii as massive storms plunged Oahu into chaos. The actor said he got his family away from the island's north shore where things were pretty gnarly in his words. 120-year-old dam on the island is still at risk of failing, but evacuation orders have since been lifted. Officials there say it's the worst flooding in two decades. Also urge people to help where they can and to check in on their neighbors. Singer Chappell Ron says she didn't ask her security guard to yell at an 11-year-old fan and her mother that girl is apparently actor Jude Law and singer Catherine Harding's daughter. Harding's husband, a Brazilian soccer star, posted to Instagram about the interaction and said it left the girl in tears. Ron performed at Lala Paloza, Brazil, over the weekend and the young fan spotted her a breakfast at her hotel. Exactly what happened next is unclear, but security did end up speaking to the girl and her mother.
And now Ron is saying that the guard in question was not her personal security. She posted on Instagram Sunday. She doesn't hate people who are fans of her music and definitely doesn't hate children. Metastalk is taking a hit after the collapse of the metaverse last week. The Facebook parent announced it would no longer be adding virtual reality experiences to the platform, marking a halt to the project on Michael Casner.
