As Americans prepare for tax season, the IRS is reminding anyone earning money through online payment apps that business related income must be reported. CPA Lisa Green Lewis with TurboTax breaks it down. If you've had payments processed through third party providers like FIMO, cash app, you will receive a $99k form. If you've had transactions process that are over 200 transactions and $20,000. Green Lewis says it's up to you to make sure you're on top of what you might owe. Some payment providers are saying that they will still issue this form at lower amounts. So I would say, you know, if you've had payment process from these third party providers, look out for those forms. The IRS says changes come as digital payments continue to grow, making it easier for unreported income to slip to the cracks.
