President Trump says he's not putting American troops in Iran as the war continues. The Senate Homeland Security Committee advanced his nomination today on an 8-7 vote after a confirmation hearing yesterday. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, the only Republican to vote known. Had yesterday's hearing poll accused Mullin of having anger issues. As investors keep their eye on rising oil prices, Wall Street closed with stocks lower today. At the closing bell, the Dow had lost 203 points. The S&P 500 fell 18 points. The Nasdaq dropped 61 points. I'm Scott Carr. Americans keep getting a daily dose of sticker shock at the pump. Triple A says the national average for a gallon of regular oil prices jumped to $3.88. That's up by 4 cents from Wednesday and 290 a gallon in mid-February. This as Iran tightens its grip on the straight of hormones. They've repeatedly attacked tankers in the water way where about a fifth of the world's oil passes through.
There was a big welcome home rally today for the Bronx student who's back in New York after spending 10 months in ice custody. Dillon Contreras was met in the East Village with applause from the community and numerous elected officials, including Governor Kathy Holko. It is a city that does not stand for high school students being taken away from the life that they should have. Members of Black Lives Matter gathered outside the mayor's home earlier today to condemn the actions of the officer. We see that Mamdani is trying to set forth the change but it's a constant pull from the NYPD trying to hold on to the old gang mentality that they've always had. That officer's been suspended without pay after police say
the officer shot someone in King's Bridge Monday, leaving that person in critical condition. There's reports the officer believed a group of people were responsible for stealing his car prior to the shooting. Taylor Swift is set to make a special appearance at this year's I Heart Music Awards. The superstars nominated nine times at this year's ceremony but will not perform. Her appearance notable as she's been keeping a low profile. The I Heart Radio Music Awards will take place March 26th at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and will air on Fox. I'm Scott Carr.
