President Trump says Iran's military is defeated. I just say it decimated. I think that we've done damage to them right now. If we left right now, it would take them 10 years and more to rebuild. Trump made the comments on board Air Force One while speaking to reporters on Sunday.

He said although the military was decimated, he said he was not ready to claim victory. When asked about what was going on in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said he was demanding that these countries come in and protect their own territory. Adding that a case could be made, the U.S. doesn't need to be there at all. Millions in the southwest are bracing for an extreme heat wave. The National Weather Service says the Los Angeles area will be hit with an extremely rare long duration heat wave starting Monday. But temperatures up to 35 degrees above normal, lasting possibly all the way through Friday. The heat wave could break daily high temperature records across the region and could set some all-time records for the month of March. Energy Secretary Chris Wright says there's a good chance gas prices will fall below $3 a gallon by summer. He made the prediction on NBC's Meet the Press as Americans pay steep prices at the gas pump as a result of the conflict in Iran. It is a short-term disruption in the flow of energy. Americans are feeling it right now. Americans will feel it for a few more weeks. Wright says he's optimistic gas prices will fall since U.S. will have removed the risk of Iran's threat on global energy supplies in a few more weeks.

This comes as AAA says the current price for a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. is around $3.70 cents on average. That's up about 25 cents from last week. Hollywood's biggest night is in the books. One battle after another was the evening's top winner, securing six trophies during the 98th Academy Awards. The film scored an award in the best picture, best director, adapted screenplay, and film editing categories. Demons from the Netflix film K-Pop Demon Hunters was the first K-Pop song to win best original song. Michael B. Jordan took home his first Oscar for actor in a leading role for his role in Centers. Friday's ruling are used that the rapper had been found not guilty of the more serious charge, and that the 50-month sentence for the man-act conviction punishes him for crimes of which he was acquitted. Attorneys for Combs called the sentencing, quote, a perversion of justice and noted, it's about four times longer than what is typically imposed for similar offenses.

Arguments for his appeal are expected to start on April 9th. I'm Lisa Carton. Senator Republicans are expected to bring the Save America Act to the floor for a vote this week. President Trump is ramping up the pressure on Senate Majority Leader John Thune, who says there aren't enough votes to beat the 60-vote threshold needed to pass the voter ID measure. Congress are vowing to block it, arguing the ID requirements would disenfranchise millions of voters. A new study suggests the father's tobacco use could affect the health of his children. Rob Martyr reports. Researchers from the University of California, Santa Cruz, found that when male mice consumed nicotine, their offspring showed changes in how their bodies handled sugar. The results show that a father's tobacco exposure could increase the risk of his children developing diabetes. The study notes reducing smoking habits could slowly diabetes epidemic. I'm Rob Martyr.
