Tax season is here and the IRS is reminding Americans that the home office deduction is still available for 2025 filings. CPA Lisa Green Lewis with Turbo Tax says there's a popular misconception that taking the deduction is a red flag that'll prompt an IRS audit. Less than 1% of people are actually audited and also if you have receipts showing your expenses and then you can substantiate that you're using a dedicated space in your own. Then you should feel empowered to take it to claim the deduction your home office must be used regularly and exclusively for business. Green Lewis says there are other things that can be deducted on top of the actual space. Equipment, computers, software, if you have a website, a website built or website support.
