Posting Saturday, the UK, China, France, and other countries, he said, should send warships to the narrow straight near Iran to ensure that oil tankers can get through. 1:03The State Department has cut the fee that Americans have to pay to renounce their US citizenship. Jim Forbes has details. Under a new rule that went into effect on Friday, the fee was lowered by nearly 80% bringing the cost down from over $2,300 to $450. The State Department said in the rule that it lowered the fee as a policy decision to reduce the cost burden on people seeking a certificate of loss of nationality. The Department estimates nearly 5,000 people apply each year for the certificate to renounce their citizenship. I'm Jim Forbes. A winter storm hitting the Upper Midwest is being called historic. The National Weather Service says the storm system rolling across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Upper Michigan could dump up to two feet of snow through Monday. The forecast calls for blizzard conditions with wind gusts reaching 50 to 60 miles an hour. While in the southwest, millions are bracing for an extreme heat wave.

2:04The National Weather Service says the LA area will be hit with an extremely rare long duration heat wave starting Monday. With temperatures up to 35 degrees above normal, possibly lasting through Friday. Daily high temperature records could be broken across the region. Court documents say Kenya Chapman is accused of making false statements while purchasing a firearm and dealing firearms without a license. 3:04He signed an executive order that would allow the company to start using a pipeline that ruptured in 2015, causing one of the worst oil spills in California history. Sable bought the pipeline complex in 2024 and says everything's been fixed, but California hasn't yet approved a restart. Governor Newsom vows to fight the move, saying in a statement that Trump is exploiting the Iran war and putting California's coastal economy at risk. I'm Jason Nathanson. A federal judge has blocked subpoenas that were served against federal reserve chair Jerome Powell by the Justice Department. More from Lisa Carton. The subpoenas were related to a probe into the management of the Fed's renovation. Judge James Bozberg said a mountain of evidence suggests the government served these subpoenas on the board. To pressure its chair and devoting for lower interest rates or resigning, U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C. Jeanine Piro, Slam Bozberg's decision and said the DOJ plans to appeal.
