President Trump says he's not aware of a preliminary report that says the US is at fault in a deadly strike on an Iranian elementary school. Chris Caragio has details. The New York Times story sites US officials and others familiar with the report. Trump was asked about the report while exiting the White House today
for Ohio and said he didn't know about that. The initial investigation found the strike was due to a targeting mistake by the US military. The military had been targeting an Iranian base adjacent to the school. The Tomahawk missile strike happened at the start of Operation Epic Fury, killing at least 175 people with most being children. I'm Chris Caragio. President Trump is touting the state of the economy. Speaking at a campaign rally type speech in Heber and Kentucky on Wednesday, Trump said he passed the biggest tax cuts in history through the passage of the big beautiful bill. Trump said there have been 53 all-time record stock market highs since his return to office. And then American 401Ks have increased by $35,000 on average. Officials are downplaying the threat after the FBI reportedly warned California police about Iran targeting the West Coast to retaliate for US attacks on the country. The alert issued at the end of last month said the FBI had information about Iran wanting to launch and mend drones specifically against unspecified targets in California.
Law enforcement sources now tell multiple outlets there was no specific threat that underpinned the alert. American voters' confidence in the Supreme Court is at a record low. According to your recent NBC News survey, 22% of respondents said they either had a great deal or quite a bit of confidence in the court. While 40% said they had some confidence and 38% said they had very little or no confidence. The percentage of voters with significant levels of confidence in the Supreme Court is down from 29% in July of 2024, and marks the lowest points since NBC News began polling on the question in the year 2000. I'm Tammy Trujillo. Residents in Hawaii are being warned to watch out for ashfall from a mount kill-away eruption. Michael Kastner reports. The volcano erupted for the 43rd time on Tuesday in an impressive display of fountaining lava. US Geological Survey says the volcano was spewing from two vents on the north and south sides of the landmass. The National Weather Service put a ashfall warning into effect for the southeast portion of the big island as
five inch rock fragments were reported falling from the sky. It was the second ashfall warning ever issued by the service with the first coming this past January. I'm Michael Kastner. The US plans to release 172 million barrels of oil from the strategic petroleum reserve. Energy Secretary Chris Wright made the announcement Wednesday. After the International Energy Agency announced it would release 400 million barrels from its own reserves. This comes as oil supplies are being disrupted due to the Iran conflict. Oil tanker traffic through the straight of our moves is slowed to a trickle causing the biggest disruption in history. And you will black lung cancer screenings are beginning again this month in America's coal mining communities. Monica Nelson reports. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is sending its mobile health units to Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio through May. Black lung disease is incurable and is caused by breathing in coal mine dust. But the Institute says if caught early severe breathing impairment can be prevented.

ESPN reports the move could come as early as this season. The proposal would continue the NFL's recent push to stage games around major holidays. The league introduced Black Friday games starting in 2023. And has begun scheduling multiple Christmas Day matchups. If approved, the change would create a nine-day stretch within NFL games played on seven of them. I'm Tammy Trujillo.
