There's been an attack on a Michigan synagogue and the person who allegedly perpetrated that attack is dead. The attack took place at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, northwest of Detroit, when a person crashed a vehicle into the temple that had children inside. Police say the vehicle caught fire as security opened fire on the driver, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.

Other than one of the lead security people was hit by the car and was taken to the hospital. Police say there are no other confirmed injuries. FBI Director Cash Patel says agents are on the ground. And Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer says she's monitoring the situation. I'm Lisa Carton. One person is dead, two others injured after a shooting at Old Dominion University in Virginia earlier today. Officials say the gunman is also dead. The shooter has been identified as Mohammed Baylor Jola, a former National Guardsman who played guilty to trying to provide material support to ISIS in 2016. It was sentenced to 11 years and was released in 2024. Iranian Ayatollah Moshtaba Hameini is vowing to keep blocking the Strait of Hormuz. That's his first message since his ascension following his father's death, but he still hasn't been seen in public. Iran's stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz, the vital waterway where about one-fifth of the world's oil passes through has caused gas prices to spike here in the US.

2:12Several states are weighing whether to suspend their gas taxes as prices continue to spike amid the ongoing military conflict in Iran. Lawmakers in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Arizona, New York, and California are debating the temporary relief. The national average for a gallon of regular jumped overnight to $359 a gallon. That's according to AAA, much more expensive in places like California. I'm Jim Roop. The Trump administration is planning to launch more than it does in terror-related investigations into various US trade partners. The investigations are being carried out under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 and could result in fresh tariffs on imports from 16 major trade partners, including China, Mexico, and the EU. The probes come weeks after President Trump imposed a 10% tariff on goods not covered under current exemptions. And it marks the next phase in his sweeping global trade wars. US trade representative Jamison Greer says the 10% tariffs are set to expire July 24th, and the administration wants to conclude its probe into foreign trading practices by then.

3:20Costco meantime, looking to the federal government for refunds, now that the Supreme Court has ruled President Trump's global tariffs were illegal. A Costco customer is suing the company to get refunds for customers who paid higher prices as a result of the tariffs. Costco CEO said last week that the company was looking into ways to pass refunds onto customers. The lawsuit argues that's not good enough, and the company needs to make a clear commitment. I'm Tammy Trujillo. Spring break travelers could face more headaches as the partial government shutdown continues. NBC's Tom Costello reports 300 TSA agents have quit to find other jobs to put food on their table. This is the thing. They received a partial paycheck, 50% of their pay, right? But guess what? They were taxed on the total amount of what they should have gotten. So as a result, they ended up with about a quarter of the paycheck that they should have had. And now this week, they're going to miss a full paycheck again. And it's feared that could further worsen staffing shortages at airports leading to even longer security lines.

4:20Annual black lung cancer screenings are beginning again this month in America's coal mining communities. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is sending its mobile health units to Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio through May. I'm Jim Roop.
