The US plans to release 172 million barrels of oil from the strategic petroleum reserve. Energy Secretary Chris Wright made the announcement after the international energy agency announced it would release 400 million barrels from its own reserves. California police have reportedly been alerted by the FBI about Iran wanting to target the West Coast to retaliate for US strikes on that country. That's according to ABC News which sites and alert it reviewed issued by the FBI a few weeks ago.

For Iranian diplomats have reportedly been killed in Israeli strikes on the capital of Lebanon. According to Iranian state media, the diplomats were killed someday in an Israeli attack on Beirut. Israel has been carrying out attacks across Lebanon in recent days targeting sites linked to Hezbollah. After the Iranian-backed militant group began launching strikes at Israel, state media reports that Israeli attacks have killed over 500 people in Lebanon while the UN officials say almost 700,000 people have been displaced.

Iran's shipping millions of barrels of oil mean time to China despite the main waterway being restricted during its war with the U.S. CNBC is reporting that Iran has sent nearly 12 billion barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz since the war began, all headed to China. Satellite reports indicate many of the tankers have gone dark by switching off their tracking systems after Tehran vowed to attack any vessel that tried to pass through the narrow waterway. About one-fifth of the world's oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. China has not commented on the report. I'm Tammy Trujillo. Drivers involved in deadly hit and run crashes are fleeing the scene at record rates. Fifteen percent of all police reported crashes in 2023 involved a driver who fled the scene. That's according to new research from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. Pedestrians and cyclists are more vulnerable, especially in the dark of night. In fact, one in four pedestrians and nearly as many cyclists were killed in crashes by a driver who fled the scene. Of identified hit and run drivers, the research shows most are young men involved in crashes close to their homes.

4:15I'm Murray O'Neill. Scientists may have discovered a pill to treat sleep apnea. A European clinical trial found that the drug sulfium was remarkably effective in reducing breathing interruptions in people with moderate to severe sleep apnea. Researchers at the University of Gothenburg in Germany say patients taking higher doses had up to 47 percent improved oxygen levels and fewer pauses in breathing during sleep. I'm Jim Roop.
