After more than a week of military operations in Iran, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth says the mission is going according to plan. We are winning. With an overwhelming and unrelenting focus on our objectives.
The Pentagon briefed reporters today on the situation unfolding in the Middle East. Secretary Hegseth said Iran now stands alone in the region thanks to Operation Epic Fury. He says Iran has been abandoned by its neighbors and in some cases its former allies and its proxies have been sidelined. The remains of this 7th American service member killed in Operation Epic Fury have been returned to the U.S. Jim Roup with more. The body of Army Sergeant Benjamin Pennington arrived in Dover, Delaware Monday night with Vice President J.D. Vance attending the dignified transfer. UCLA Professor Benjamin Radd says Mojtaba Hameini is trying to project continuity. It's basically to show that their experiment in theocratic dictatorship is going to continue and to make sure that there aren't any doubts domestically about the stability of the regime so that there'll be any domestic attempts to take it down. Hameini is the son of the previous Supreme Leader who was assassinated by the U.S. and Israel last month. Radd says the new Supreme Leader is not well known among Iranians. Professor also believes the vast majority of people in Iran oppose that leadership. I'm Michael Casner. The Transportation Security Administration under the DHS umbrella is warning passengers of increased wait times.
Hobby airport in Houston on Sunday told passengers to arrive up to five hours before flights, noting that the security line could be longer than three hours. It was a similar story in Atlanta and New Orleans where officials were telling travelers to show up at least three hours early. The lack of pay has created a lack of TSA workers at checkpoints. Social media posts suggest the shooting of Rihanna's Los Angeles home was targeted. Iris Pitzer reports a Florida resident identified as Ivana Ortiz was arrested on Sunday after allegedly firing at least four shots into the home of Rihanna and her partner rapper ASAP Rocky. Police say Ortiz pulled up in a white Tesla and began shooting toward the properties front gate in broad daylight with neighbors reporting hearing a rapid burst of gunfire. Authorities say the pop star and founder of Fenty Beauty was inside at the time but was not injured. Ortiz had reportedly posted several messages and videos on social media in recent weeks, making reference to Rihanna.
Pope Leo has been given a new, customized Ford Explorer premium by Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley and his wife, Tammy Traheo, with details. The Farley's personally delivered the SUV to the Chicago-born Pope during a private meeting late last month. The vehicle was built at the Chicago assembly plant about five miles from Leo's hometown of Dalton, Illinois. The SUV has vanity license plates of depop and Leo XIV. The Chicago flag in city skyliner stitched into the center console and engravings of Chicago and St. Peter's Basilica are on the scuff plates near the bottom of the doors. A Michael Casner.
