It's been almost a week since the United States and Israel started attacking Iran, killing the Ayatollan, leaving the country to face a power void. President Trump is now saying he wants to personally play a role in the selection of Iran's next Supreme Leader. In the meantime, he says the U.S. and Israel continue to demolish the country, destroying many of its missile and drone launchers. Iran's foreign minister says his country is confident. It can counter any potential U.S. ground invasion, more from Tammy Trehio. In an interview with NBC News, he said he believes the operation has been a failure for the U.S. so far. It is clear that the U.S. has failed to achieve its main goal, which was a clean, rapid victory. The foreign minister said his country has never had a positive experience when holding
talks with American officials. He adds there's no winner in this conflict, and their goal is to resist against Israeli and U.S. forces, which he said they've done. President Trump's pick to replace Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noam says he's going to build off things that didn't go quite as planned at DHS while Oklahoma Republican Senator Mark Wayne Mullins still needs Senate confirmation. Saturday morning. I'm Michael Casner, the feud between the AI company Anthropic and the Pentagon is going to court. Rory O'Neill reports the Pentagon is classifying Anthropic as a supply chain risk for refusing to remove guardrails on its AI system company CEO Dario Amadeh says that designation is legally unsound. The pushback from the Pentagon comes after Amadeh refused to let the Defense Department use Anthropics clawed AI for mass surveillance on Americans or for deadly weapons strikes that lacked human oversight. Anthropic is the only American company ever to be publicly named a supply chain risk. I'm Rory O'Neill. FBI agents were seen going door to door on Thursday and Nancy Guthrie, Southern Arizona neighborhood, Wendy Swanson, with the latest. The 84-year-old mother of today's show co-host Savannah Guthrie was reported missing from her home in the Tucson area on February 1st, with authorities saying soon after that
there was evidence she'd been abducted. The renewed FBI activity comes as the spokesperson for Savannah Guthrie says she remains focused on supporting her family and working to bring her mother home. The family is offering $1 million for Nancy's return. In Arizona, I'm Wendy Swanson. A mom from Northern California has been convicted of hosting alcohol-fueled sex parties for her son and dozens of fellow students, Sharon Reardon, with the latest. Lusgettis, resident Shannon O'Connor, faced a total of 63 counts, including furnishing alcohol that children and child endangerment. ABC7 says the jury has found her guilty on dozens of counts following a 16-week trial and deliberations. Prosecutors say O'Connor hosted parties at her home, local parks and hotels where she allegedly provided alcohol and encouraged minors to engage in sexual activity. Authorities say the crime stemmed from 2021, but some teens testified their involvement dated back to 2019 when they were as young as 11. I'm Michael Casner.
