US Central Command says the low-cost unmanned combat attack system or Lucas was deployed from the USS Santa Barbara in the Persian Gulf. Officials say the drones were used to strike command and control facilities but did not disclose how many were launched. The system is designed as a lower-cost, expendable platform.
