The Middle East is embroiled in conflict. Iran's supreme leader is dead, killed over the weekend in a joint US-Israeli military operation. Chaos quickly enveloped the region with retaliatory strikes, hitting targets in a number of countries, including Israel, Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, and Kuwait.
Three US service members have been killed so far and five others seriously wounded, with President Trump saying additional casualties should be expected. Three European nations say they'll work with the US and other allies to protect them from what they call indiscriminate and disproportionate missile attacks from Iran, more from Roryo Niel. The UK, France and Germany released statements one day after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran. British Prime Minister Keir Starma announced the US will be allowed to use British bases for defensive strikes against Iranian missile depots and launchers. He made clear the UK was not involved in the strikes on Iran that killed supreme leader Ali Khamenei. Iran has launched attacks against nine countries in the region since Saturday. I'm Roryo Niel. Thousands of tips have been received and a $1 million reward is being offered in connection with the 84-year-olds disappearance. Authorities in Southern Arizona say Guthrie was abducted from her home but has so far failed to identify a potential suspect. She was reported missing on February 1 after missing church.
In Arizona, I'm Wendy Swanson. A new Swiss study sides with most kids when it comes to school start times. Pretennis reports. The study gave students in grade seven to nine the choice of two start times. 95% of the students chose the later start and took an extra 45 minutes of sleep. What researchers found was the kids performed better on standardized tests in math and English. Psychologists say it's not a surprise as teenagers are biologically wired to a later sleep and wake pattern. 51% of the teachers also like the later start. I'm Bri Tennis.
