The face always was wondering where you were yesterday, Walks. I know, you know what? I know you guys think I never work, because I just play hockey in the afternoon every day. No, I had a meeting. I had my equipment and my truck end. I realized I wasn't going to make a talk because the meeting went a little late. What are you good at here? You got to, you know, big doodie calls. Well, the white team could have used you. Has Eddie. Oh, yeah. And great. Yeah, no, Barry, Barry Tees could have used a deep partner. I'm sure he wasn't there either. Barry wasn't there. Yeah, it was a light. We only have a couple of spares aside. I meant I meant to be there. Yeah. Yeah, well, I mean, you got to work too. I mean, not all of us can be Eddie's steel. Whoa, no, no, no, I'm lucky. I'm lucky for unlucky for us.

2:01So walks I always tell people, right? NFL, it stands for not for long. I played in the CFL, baby. That stands for come for less. Yeah. So, I guess I was the text line last night and everyone talking about a win, where the others, the penalty kill, you know, to set up the Bouchard goal was, was massive last night walks. Yeah, you know how it is. Like it's late in the game and I'm kind of like crafting. Okay, like what's my lead take and it'd be on the post game show tonight? And, you know, it was once they once they got to OT, I mean, I liked their game and I felt that they, I felt Vegas was lucky to get to OT. I thought the others, you know, that forced them into a turnovers all night long and then the odd time the others weren't clean enough. It ended up in their net. So, I really liked your game through 60 and then, you know, OT happens and you take a penalty and it's like, well, right?

3:02Like two minutes were on three with some of the personnel Vegas has. It's like, I guess that's it. But, you know what, like they got a point and now they're tied with Vegas and like the race for second is still on. Like I'd like their game and the process is what matters. And then just a major kill, like you said, great job and then right off the face off, you know, McDavid and Bouchard does this thing. So, it ends up being right when it looked like they weren't going to get it done, what a win. And that's two really high quality wins in a row. And, you know, don't look now, but you want to win in the playoffs, you've got to win on the road. They're four, one and one in their last six road games, right, with the lone blemish being that Dallas game. So, they are coming around. Like they, it seems to be like they always do and there's nine games to go in the season and they look like they figured out their deep pairs and, you know, their block and shots, they're playing physical. It's taken longer than a lot of us would have thought, but it does, at the end of the day,

4:05it really does not matter where they finish as long as their game is right heading into the postseason. It might be getting there, guys. Yeah. Hey, Walks, you brought up that they have it right with their deep pairs and, I mean, the addition of Murphy has been huge and who would have thought that it would have been this helpful to Darnell Nurse's game? Haven't they turned into quite the pairing? And as you can see now, they've turned into the shutdown pair, hey? Yeah, I mean, that surprises me a little bit. You like Murphy, you dropped the glove last night. I'm like, hey, the bad guy. No, there's a time in a place, man. There's a time in a place. Yeah, no, you're right, though. You know what, like, you know exactly what Murphy is. I've been, I really like his game. Shocker, right, Kevin? But defensive defense, I really like his game and him with Nurse. It's just, it's worked, right? They're long, they cover a lot of ice. They're hard to score on. And, you know, Nurse is one of those things where when he gets in trouble,

5:06it's just because he's trying to, you know, do too much and be everything. And they seem to have found a really good role for him. I thought he was terrific last night. And, yeah, I mean, listen, that is turned into a pretty good defensive pairing. They put together here a couple of pretty good weeks and don't forget, you know, Jake Wallman looks to be moving really good as well. He was sipping outlet passes last night. And you always know what you're going to get from Bouchard Neckelmau the last night. I, Eckelmau is the only guy that struggled, but you give him the pass because he's usually pretty damn good. Yeah, that one little play where he went for the Polk and kind of got caught and, you know, it was an offensive zone faceoff too. That's what kills you when you get those and then 10 seconds later, it's in the back of your neck. Andrew Walker with his son, the Kevin Keri Show with Eddie Steele. You know, Zach Hyman had a great goal where he stripped McNab. And that was his 30th of the year walks and just think if he were healthy and didn't miss whatever the 18, 20 games, whatever it was, he'd be pushing it 40. He might have the lead lead right now,

6:06if not for his injury at the start of the year. I think it's a really big, I told you so season. Listen, I will always feel bad for Hyman because four years from now, he's not going to be in the mix on the Olympic team, I wouldn't think. And, you know, not that it would have made a difference. They had a great team. They dominated the states in the final, but Zach Hyman was on a lot of people's Olympic team. And, you know, that's something that he'll just never get to do in his career. And I thought he deserved it. But anyway, I think a big part of that is, a bit of a lack of respect in the sense of, okay, yeah, listen, he's good player, scores a lot of goals, he did score 50, but it's, you know, did he score 51, so is he a 50 goal score? You know, if he was healthy this year, he's on a 50 goal pace. You know, I don't mean he's kind of doing it again. All that guy has done in five years is score goals and score even more in the playoffs, remarkably consistent. Anybody out there, and I know that narrative is dying down a little bit,

7:07but anyone that thinks, oh, it's because he plays with these guys or whatever. I mean, obviously, listen, great players are going to pump up the numbers of great players, but Zach Hyman's just a pure goal score. And, yeah, 30 is a big number, especially when people kind of thought he was a flash in the pan, some people anyway. Well, he's a 28 goals since December 10th, that's tied with Cole Coffield for the second goals in the league, trailing only Steven Stamco's. And to the narrative that he only gets goals because of who he plays with, that's rubbish. I'm with you on that walks because he gets goals in the grimeous, dirtiest areas. And that's, he's rare on this Euler's team. That's not typically how they go out and get goals. He's unique. What do you say, Theo Flarey says about the blue pancake cake? There's bags and bags and bags and he goes and gets those bags. Walks, would you think of Ingram's game in net last night? And then I would like to ask a secondary question to that.

8:10Who do you think is in net against the ducks on Saturday? Well, second part, Ingram, for sure. Listen, they're gonna need, I thought Ingram was terrific last night. I thought in a lot of respects, it may have been his best game of the season, just given the circumstance, being on the road, the importance of the game. And it's not that he's played better this night because you allowed one goal or better this night because you allowed two. The Euler's to win games need key saves at key times when it counts. And that was not that Ingram was spectacular throughout the game. I thought he was really good early, but when the game was in doubt like that, that play, the backdoor play to Hanuffin with three minutes left, that could have been disastrous because they played so well. And then all of a sudden, what, Vegas gets their first chance in like 10 minutes and they lose. Like that feels like early season, Euler's doesn't it? And Ingram comes up with a big save. And I don't think it's asking too much for you to make a big save once in a while. And he made that one and then was right in there

9:12with the mix with all the guys on the penalty he'll make some big saves there with a couple of great poke checks on hurdle, which I thought was great. So like it's not like a game like that for Ingram, that's not gonna put you on the All Star team, that's not gonna get you a $10 million extension, but like that's exactly what Euler's need to win. So I thought it was great. Now, all this said, you know, big picture. I don't see either Connor Ingram or Tristan Jari winning 16 games for this team. They are going to need both in the post season. So they need both guys to be playing well. And I thought the Jari start the other night was, listen, baby steps. I thought it was encouraging. I thought it was a wonderful defensive performance. He didn't have to do much. He didn't wield under pressure or allow a bad goal. I think you ride that a little bit in the sense of like, hey, let him enjoy it. Let him stew on it. Ingram right now is still your guy play off start tomorrow. Ingram is getting the start. That's what I believe. But they are going to need both guys in the post season

10:13and that includes Jari. So what has done for Jari is, to me, it's earned him another start. I don't know when that is. I kind of guess it's gonna be, I guess it depends on your ambition, right? Like if you really wanna go for the division, if you really think it's yours for the taking and Saturday is a big game, you beat Anaheim and your three back. And maybe they wanna get into this alternate thing. I don't know. We're not really gonna know, probably until the morning of the game. I would go back to Ingram and I'd consider starting Jari on Tuesday, but I still think there's a clear division here. But yes, they wanna get Jari going because. They need like that. Yeah, they need him. And that would be why you say they should go with Jari. Hey, because I'm with you, I think it should be Ingram. Listen, I just said at the beginning of the week when they were splitting these games up. I felt that it would be a split between these two games and I brought in the afternoon concept. Bringing the, I threw that into the mixer walks

11:14and I thought that I didn't know who was gonna play in Vegas. You know, just when I was on Monday, when we were breaking down the schedule. And I thought because of an afternoon game tomorrow, I thought last night's game and Saturday's game would be a split between the two. Having said that, I have no problem going back to Ingram either. But you know the thing is two walks when we do say who's gonna play and what we think, who we think is gonna start, not block sometimes or not sometimes. A lot of the times he goes the other way, what everyone's thinking. Well, it's kinda like, what's the bigger game, right? Like is it, are we kinda thinking the division is unlikely and I'm just one four in a row. You got five points difference or is the important game, you know, Tuesday against Seattle, you know, because it's more than anything, it's important to really solidify your spot. They still want the division here, man. I mean, that's Bucks for Daryl. That's another playoff gate if they want the division.

12:14They haven't won the division for 40 years. So they want the division. Well, I mean, it could very easily be, it can very easily be cherry twice, to be honest. Sorry, not Jerry twice, I mean, Ingram twice. I mean Ingram, they announced him as a starter, which doesn't mean much, like it really doesn't. If anything, it was just kind of quiet the noise. It's like, listen, Jerry's not gonna be playing for a while. He needs to get his game together and there's a lot of film, there's a lot of practice, stuff like that. So because Jerry make listen, like they need Jerry, but because he makes 17 saves in Utah, like he doesn't all of a sudden make it this huge conversation again, like you gotta stick to your guns a little bit. This is still Ingram's crease. And what Jerry's done, like I said, is earn himself another start at some point. And there's still nine games to go. I would guess that Jerry might start three of them maybe, and then depending on where you are, like maybe Ingram needs to get sharp before game one, but at this point, I'm not in a huge hurry

13:16to throw Jerry back in there. Let him enjoy the 17 save victory, that I will have to see a little more from the guy. The hustle doesn't have to hurt. I have him assuming Columbus gets in. I have Rewensky winning and I have a lot of trouble

15:20putting anyone else ahead of Bouchard. He's been. I have a two as well right now. Yeah, he's been that good. And I think I've said this on your show before. I'm a big believer. It's not about, I mean, we're talking about like championships. It's like, you know, there's a, if you're not first you're lost, I get it. For something like major award trophies, I love going on like hockey reference and baseball reference do a great job of this. Like, you know, it's not so much on hockey DB, but when you look at a guy's stats and then you go over to the corner and it's awards and it's like, you know, heart trophy, third and voting, fifth and voting, first and voting, second and voting. And you can really see his career trajectory. And I've always thought in hockey especially for those big awards, the hearts, the, the Norse's, you know, the, the Salci's things like that. If you, if you can have these littered top five, top three appearances over the course of your career,

16:20I just think it's so impressive. And especially a lot of these awards like we get used to, I mean, Bobby Orton lose one for a decade. And then it was Nick Lidstrom's decade in the 90s, right? Like, it's hard to imagine very many guys winning a Norse when Kale McCarrer is in the league, right? And so I think there's a lot of value in being a finalist or being top five and maybe not everybody does, but I think that, that Evan Bouchard, especially given some of the blind, uneducated criticism that you'll hear all over the hockey world because people are just lemmings. They just, you know, they just run off a cliff because everyone else does or a parrot because they see some on social media and they want to act smart. So they say the same things. Evan Bouchard has had a remarkable season. And just because he had a rough first two weeks of the season, like I, who cares? The guy has been getting better and better. He's not like he's a plus 21. He's got 20 goals. He's going to put it with 90 points on real-year clutch goals.

17:21And, you know, you could make a big time case that, I mean, McBavids are always going to be there, but you could make a case that Bouchard is doing this MVP this year. He's been that good. So I mean, listen, Roenski has had a insane year. And I just do not put anyone ahead of Bouchard on that list. That includes Queen Hughes. It includes Kale McCart. It includes Lane Hudson, you know, and the whole conversation of, oh, who would you start a franchise with? That isn't it. That's a totally different conversation. But yeah, a long way of saying number two in my ballot with a bullet. In the nice thing about Bouch is he's proven for years now that when the playoffs roll around, he takes his game to an even higher level. And he plays at an even better skill with even more skill. And that pugs Zing's off of his Bouch bomb seems like he releases it even more in the playoffs. So it's a good thing. It's unbelievable. Like he's so good in the playoffs. And the hockey world and like fans and media and all these opinions and stuff. Like everyone's so hypocritical

18:23because like you remember, I don't know, that we'll say that the Patrick Marlos of the world, right? Like guys like that that all great regular season player and then, you know, they can never go more than around deep where they disappear in the playoffs. Those guys just get destroyed, right? They've always gotten destroyed in their entire herd and every sport. Guys that can't get it done in the postseason. And then you have, you know, Bouchard, where at the end of the day, you know what it is, it's still a lot of people made up their decision early and we're in an era that everyone's so afraid to admit that they were wrong. And here's the guy that like has his moments where he might not be great, you know, in October or November of the regular season. And then he's just a beast in the playoffs and somehow people like conveniently don't appreciate that. I just think it's so funny. I've gotten to the point, I've gotten to the point. You know how, like you can tell a person's character, this is like a dating thing, right? You can tell a person's character how do they treat the wait staff at a restaurant, right?

19:26Like that's a good look into, you know, what type of person somebody is. And I can instantly, like someone's like, oh, I love hockey. I can, I can say, hey, what do you think Evan Bouchard? And I know exactly how much they know about hockey based on their opinion. I think he's that kind of polarizing guy, honestly. Hey, Wax, thanks for coming on. As usual, to lead things off, is it pucks or pallets for you today? Oh, a little bit of both. And then, but I will, yeah, I will get in a, I will get an escape, the wife gets on me if I'm not exercising, you know how it is. And Donnie Pee is not with you tomorrow. He's with us in the ERL baseball draft. Yeah, I heard that. I know you guys are going to abuse him. Donnie's going to get, you are going to abuse him. Lit up. You know, that thing you're right. I think the A's are going to win today. Like, like, it's scarred me so bad. Like maybe they just get off to a 30 and 10 start and the summer will just be a nice little breeze before the grind of playoff baseball in the fall. But I am scarred enough that like one little hint of adversity, and I am not watching baseball. I'm just bringing, I'm telling you, I can't, I can't do it.
