at Rogers Place with a Florida Panthers. Shut out, the Edmonton owners. For nothing, the Oilers blew a massive opportunity to make a statement in this game against a team that basically ripped their hearts out, ripped their hearts out twice in the Stanley Cup final. You would think that a team like the Orders would bring a whole hell of a lot more in the first two periods with emotion, urgency, desperation. And you're fighting for your playoff lives. Never mind to boot. Yeah, in the third, you saw some too little, too late. And again, this team, the Florida Panthers, ripped your hearts out for two years in the Stanley Cup final. And that was what you saw last night. Hey, let's welcome in our co-host on Mondays and Fridays. Eddie Steele, great cup champion, 2015, all decade team,

double E, U Sports, half century team. Good morning, Eddie. Good morning, KK. Like, you know, I mean, it's, you played with a lot of pride, heart, soul, guts, that's probably what got you in the league. Probably what kept you there for a decade. Effort more than anything. Yeah, well, that's, that's part of pride. And it is everything. So in these moments, the effort, those are all the things. So, and again, you know what, like, if you go back to, like, I said some stuff, some stupid things on the air here, about wrapping a sticker on, could chuck through, ripping his head off. You take it right out of my mouth. Now, that's, that was to the extreme. And it was out of frustration about what he said to Leon at the Olympics. And then that post that the Kachux put on, you know, about always a bride. And then they had the German flag on Leon's face. And the Canadian flag on Connor's face and things like that. Doing what they do.

Yeah. These are little things that added up for me. You know, like, the celebration last year. You know, I think when Florida won the first cup, they won it with a little more dignity and things like that. The second one was a little more aggressive in nature. They rub their faces in it. Yeah. So, to me, that was, last night's loss was more disappointing to me than the Colorado loss, the Dallas loss. I will say this, though, it might not like it. But when you do go to three straight and when you do beat a team twice and have their number the way you do, when you're in those moments at the top of the world, you can rub their face in it to a degree. You can. The F use a little much. Okay. But you can. But isn't it? You get the right to. Listen, I'm not disagreeing with that. But that, to me, adds more fuel to the fire. Should. It should, should. It's interesting because Florida where they're at,

and there's probably one of the most disappointing points is in the standings. We know where Florida is at. They're not making the playoffs. They're treading water in the fact that they showed up and just outplayed you, outskated you, out physical, you out everything. And we all know that this was their Stanley Cup game. And yeah, this is just another one on the board for the Oilers. But it was an opportunity to take first in the Pacific games in hand. And you let the moment pass you by in a very flat fashion. I mean, you'd swear like, Cole Reinhart was Sam Reinhart last night in the Oilers minds. So just a disappointing, again, to start the game. And we all know how see how the Panthers play. We all know how they play along the boards. And they did that in the Stanley Cup finals. They seal things off. They bring the defenseman down. They pull F3 over to cover. You know, to be honest with you, that wasn't as we didn't see as much of that.

Like it wasn't like dominating like it was in the Stanley Cup final. It was one little thing. But again, the Oilers, after it got to be three nothing. And the Oilers had some opportunities here. Let's be honest. It's two, it's two nothing. They had two power plate chances. They didn't generate enough on those two power plate opportunities. And then the put coals and puck over the boards, over the glass. And then Lindell scores three nothing in that point. It's game over. But to me, the big part was in the first period. And coming out of the gates with everything you got. And that's what really bothered me last night. You didn't see any Oilers deliver any hits, any big blows. Like the way you saw Stasney and Nerf's to take. Like they took some big blows. Stasney took that one on the, buddy was forechecking. I don't know who laid it out. And then Nerf's along the board. Nerf's took it from AJ Greer along the boards. He sold it. Yeah, you got to deliver those blows. You got to be the hammer, not the nail. I mean, the Oilers got credit for 28 hits last night.

Florida was 21. You know, that's one of those nights where you get, I didn't see 28 hits even close. So they were, Florida was smothering him. Not for the entirety, but for large portions of the game, they felt smothering like, oh man, back to the olden days here. The two nothing goal late in the first period. That was a killer for the Oilers. And this is a goal where Darnell Nurse, he's got the puck in his own zone. He has the opportunity to make a good decision and have a clean exit. Instead, it's a poor decision and a bad exit. He gets caught on the ice. And now him and Boo Shard are out there. And the two of them are behind the net with AJ Greer. The two of them are behind the net with AJ Greer. Now both of them come out in front of the net. So does AJ Greer. But no one comes near AJ Greer. So to me, that's incomprehensible for me, that goal.

That spoke volumes to me in that game. The thing about it too with these defensemen, it seems like they're just not peripheralling things. Like you have to be able to see everything and open your vision up and see the grandioes picture, right? Not just have the tunnel vision. You know it. You know exactly what I'm talking about. You have to have that in football or else you're going to get decleded. Like someone's going to come for you. You're right or left. If your head's not on a swivel, you're going to get smoked. It just feels like sometimes fell escape into space and it's a, how do you not see them? How are you not periphering this? So that second goal was massive. You know, again, the orders had opportunities. Even, you know, Matt Savoy was sniffing around it again. Conor McDavid had many chances in tight where he never even got a shot away. You know, I think Florida did an exceptional job. Their defense on Conor with long stick checks. Eckblad had several of them.

Foresling was in there even though like, if you think about it that one, like Foresling coughed the puck up on that forecheck early in the second when Savoy got to him and then Conor McDavid has the puck and it's almost and puck holes and comes in. It's almost like it's a three-on-old down low but they're in too tight. Yeah. So there were opportunities for the others. Having said that you get, like, Mikola came back and Jones has come back into this lineup. So they've been missing a lot of guys on the back end. Between Foresling and Eckblad, Mikola and Jones, that's four of their horses that have led them and helped them to two cups. Jones just the last one. Man, I can't say... And Florida's not going to bring this effort in their next game. But here's the thing, Eddie. The oiler is probably, I'm not saying this happened, but Florida went into Vancouver two nights ago, on Tuesday, three nights ago, and lost to the Conox 5-2. There you go. Are the oilers thinking all these guys? Are these guys mailing it in down the stretch? No. Everybody said going into it, that Florida was going to play with effort. For sure. Everybody, Florida played exactly how people said

that they were going to play. Edmonton, you got to know that and match that. They didn't match that. That's what this is about. But without being all doom and gloom, there was a couple of bright spots, like you could really see chemistry developing with Conor and Matt, huh? On their line, so. Yes. You can see chemistry there. So having said that, at the very beginning of the game, and people talked about the line changes yesterday. Now, to me, the only reason that they changed, well, not the only, one of the reasons they changed the line, because they needed to have something with Conor in case Matthew could chuck did something stupid. And that's why Putcolson was there. And even off the face off, you know, they have a little chat and Putcolson saying, don't screw around tonight, okay? Don't screw around tonight. Or something's going to happen. Yeah, like. But if you have Savoy there, instead, now it's a different dynamic. Absolutely. So Savoy is still on the other side. But having said all that, when it's three nothing, I was like, you got to put Heimann and Conor back together with Savoy.

And, you know, because the whole changing of the lines everyone thought was because Capon wasn't going to go. So you still have the ability to go back to what it was the other night when you had success. The sample size is small. It's two games. One game. You're a home run. Hit as a team without Leon. The next game. You strike out. You know, again, the good thing is last night that everyone in the pathetic division lost. Savoy plays sharks. Well played. Five nothing. Flyers. Beat the Kings for nothing in a shootout. Gold and Knights lost to the mammoth. Four nothing. You know, there's a good chance here, Eddie. There is a good chance that the team, so the Pacific bracket, the wild card team may have more points than the division winner. Geez. Hey, let's welcome in the duke at Albert on a fantastic Friday. Good morning, Duke. Good morning. I'll refresh after your big night last night.

Oh, yeah, every night's big cup. Oh, yeah. Every every every night's a blessing. By big, he means the dent in the couch. Getting bigger and bigger. March madness. You're not leaving the couch with everything going on. Not not not not very much this week. That's for sure, Eddie. Yeah, it was it was good. We caught quite a few games here in studio yesterday and then even the spill over into post show work out by the the bar area here inside Stingray. And then straight home. Watch some more. Watch some more. I was saying this to Josh. It was actually a little bit disappointing that the late slate of the March madness games there. They were all pretty lopsided because there's nothing really to distract from the really poor performance. The oilers were putting on on my primary TV. So I actually watched most of the curling game last on Canada eventually losing to Norway in an extra. But yeah, it's really disappointing. I think it's probably the best descriptor of what the oilers put forth for well, 40 minutes for sure. Like the third period they played well.

But it was it's three nothing against a team that does not want to let you back in that hockey game by any stretch of the imagination. So we know the oilers can erase three gold leads like it's nothing. But it's just like from an emotional standpoint, it seems like they it was much too little too late. So very, very disappointing. But good news for them. They get a much more difficult opponent in a quick turnaround tomorrow night to try and try and get things back on track. And a cool thing about that. We're going to see McDavid versus Kudruv. I mean, that's a treat that is a treat for fans and looking forward to that. All that everyone's brackets are doing. Just fine, apparently. Eddie's okay. Doing all right. I never, you didn't pay for my entry fee. Did I owe for what I paid for you the last two years? No, one year, one year. One year for sure. I think that was the year you won it. No, I think it was last year because you just pulled out a 20 and handed it to Duke.

And then Eddie's just like, Oh, yeah. He paid for me, oh, yeah. Mine is well paid. Well, we're on this topic, speaking of money. When am I getting my show true to Reboard? Well, it's common. Like, I mean, here's the one thing, Eddie. The brand, like, I have to brand it. I can't find it because of the snow. I know I keep, I keep it outside. And it's like, I keep it outside by the trees just to... So it's getting weathered. Oh, well, it's a sport. No, no, no, no. The brand, I think it's a sport. Oh, I'm thinking it's a sport. I just can't find the brand. And I want to go buy another, I want to go to the metal shop. And, you know, so... Hey, our listeners are going to be really excited that we have our first guest, normally our co-host on Thursdays is going to make a special guest a periods from check. Tell our listeners where you are and what you're doing here for the next month or so.

I'm currently at my parents house, which is awesome. It's great to see them, but yeah, it's it's pretty busy here. My sister visiting, you know, so it's not a huge house, but yeah, it will do for next next few weeks. Yeah, I'm here for the U18 world juniors, which is going to happen in later in April. But I'm here, you know, 10 days prior to our first camp, visiting with my family. I am going to watch some of the playoff games in check topply, which is happening right now. Going tomorrow to watch my hometown team and then Sunday going to watch Sparta Prague, which is a team I'm going to be coaching with next season. So, you know, excited to see all the people. You know, it's going to be, you know, before before the Sunday's game, I'm going to meet with the head coach head coach of this, you know, Sparta Prague that I'm going to be coaching with,

which is very exciting. We're going to talk some some more about our team, how, you know, how it's going to look, what it's going to look like next year. And yeah, I'm I'm I'm very excited, still adjusting to time change, which is not not easy, rough nights, but it's a lot of fun. It's always great to see my family. Oh, yeah. Laddy, you said that you're going to be going to some playoff games out here for the top league. I would imagine playoffs get pretty crazy out there from the fan point of view. How many people are in the buildings usually at those types of games? Uh, so my hometown arena can hold, I think, around 7,500. So it's going to be pretty much sold out. I'm kind of curious, uh, to see. But those games, like when I played it, it got pretty pretty crazy, a lot of fun. You know, it's not obviously the NHL stage, but the hockey is still still really good and the defense get after it. And then the arena and proc usually they played,

they usually play in the arena where the World Cup is going to be at. But, uh, due to the World Championship, it's figure skating that's currently being held there. They have to go to their kind of backup training facility, which still holds, I think, like 12,000, half thousand people, which is going to be probably, yeah, it's going to there's going to be probably over 10,000, maybe 11,000 people. I'm not sure if it's going to get sold out, but, but the main arena, the O2 arena, can hold, I think, 60 and half, 17,000 people. And that's, uh, that's really, really nice facility. But like I mentioned, it's, uh, you know, it's being used by the figure skaters. Mm-hmm. A lot of Slavs speed with this. At his parents' house. Is it Liberici? No, free Liberats. Liberats? Liberats? Perfect. Liberici. Uh, it wasn't close. Oh, that's what I was going to say. Oh, that's what I was going to say. It's like, it's simple. Liberici, what do you talk about? Like, are you in Spain or something? He's got a butcher in it.

EA. What's going on? Yeah. Come on now, you guys. Don't be like, well, I know Liberici matches the shirt from last week. Yeah. It's okay. It's Liberats. Yeah, it's Liberat. It's roughly around 100,000 people. It's not very, it's not very big, but, uh, it's a nice city. Surrounded by mountains. Are you out there solo or are you bringing the family? Well, I brought, uh, my oldest son stayed in Canada because he's got spring hockey happening, but my daughter and my younger son are here with my wife. So, uh, yeah, uh, first night was very rough, because it gets adjusting to time changes, uh, very challenging, but, uh, it is a lot of, it is a lot of fun for them, you know, scenes here that their grandparents and their auntie, or that it's, uh, it's always, always fun, but, uh, yeah, it's a lot of work for the adults. You have to entertain them. Oh, yeah.

Oh, yeah. When you woke up this morning, Ladi, did you watch some oilers highlights from the game against Florida? Uh, I watched a little bit. I talked to my son because he went to the game, and he told me it was for nothing, um, kind of, not very good performance. I just watched for a couple of goals. Yeah, um, not great. And, uh, you know, it's, it's, it's still kind of tight race. Like, it's not like, for sure, a lot for Edmonton to be in a playoffs and, and missing dry saddle is a, that's a big hole to fill. I don't think you can fill the hole, but now it's going to show us, like, what the oilers are about, you know, is it about just few players or can they, can they actually, you know, play as a team four lines, six defense men, you know, you're going to need a gold ending, you know, so we'll see what they're made out of. And I hope they're going to prove us that they're, they're the team we think they are.

I think that one of the biggest disappointments would be, you know, it's Florida. You know, the Florida is completely out of it. They're going to be coming in with all this energy. They're treating this as their Stanley Cup game seven. In terms of, they got what, 15 games left max. And this is going to be the one that they show up for. And Edmonton didn't meet that level. Do you have any rhyme or reason why emotionally, like, they just don't show up sometimes in these moments? I don't get it, man. Like, I was actually, when you look at a calendar before the season, that's the game you should be circling, right? I don't want to like overhide this, but this is the, like, this is their, like, rival, I'd say these days, right? Like, you have to get up and, like, kind of, I know it's, there's no easy games. And you don't want to say, like, run them out of the building. But if there's a one game that you want to circling a calendar and run somebody out of the building, that's the team. And so, like, I have a really, like, like I said, I didn't watch, like, that much because it's good to schedule here.

But when you look at the score for nothing, I can't, I can't imagine it was a really good game. And so, like, I, I have a tough time understanding why. Like, this, this is the game. Like, and on top of everything, you're still finding for a playoffs stop, a playoffs spot, right? Like, I think, I think we are very lucky this year that the Pacific division is not what it usually is, right? Like, and we are, like, we are in the playoffs right now, but any other season, if LA is playing the way they're usually playing Vegas, and, you know, now you have Anaheim in a picture, you know, all these teams, then we would be probably, like, scrambling for a, for a, like, a last spot, wild car spot. So, really, really tough, tough to understand why this happened, because, like I mentioned, like, that if there is a one, if there is a one team, you want to, for sure, beat, and when you want to show them that, hey, like, this,

this time around, you are not going to be in a pl- you're not in a playoffs, and we are the better team, you know, I don't get it, man, like, I don't get it, it's, it's too many up and downs for me this year, and, like, I don't want to ride them off, but, like, I said, I mentioned it before, like, I don't believe this is the season for us, unfortunately. I think we're going to make a playoffs, but I don't know how far we can make it, to be honest. Yeah, I'm, I'm with you too, in terms of, like, just doesn't make sense to me, Laddie. When you have a rival, and I've been on some bad teams, you've been on some bad teams here, but when you have that rival circled on the calendar, you're going to get up for them. There's a saying here, and we all know what, well, in Edmonton, ABC, anybody but Calgary, especially in the football world, you had to show up to play the stamps, and you hated the stamps, even if you were having a bad season. I wanted to see if there was a rival, a specific player or a team throughout your career

that you really had to get up for, that you just built up this big rivalry against. Man, obviously, Calgary. But for me, all those years in Edmonton, it was Vancouver. Like, seeing Ryan Kessler in that, in that jersey, or burrows, or bexta, you know, like, I don't get me wrong. I respect those players, but the way they acted back then, you know, the team was better than us, and they would like to tell us that, and show us that every single game. So I hated Vancouver Canucks. I still do, you know, especially what's been happening there. You know, but I don't wish back to anyone, but like, if there was a one team, it was always Vancouver Canucks for me. Like, I would get up for those games gladly. Obviously, they had sedans, and they would cost me some nightmares, you know, with their cycle in the ozone, but it was what it was, but like, those guys I just mentioned, especially Ryan Kessler,

it would be like, okay, let's go, buddy. You know, I would get up for that easily at 2 a.m. in the morning, and like, I would just be the last. But like I said, I respect those players, but that would be the team. Like, I would circle those days, and we'd like pull any of the games against them. A lot of Slavsmeade with his dialogue in, from his parents' basement, in Lieberetsk, Czech, Kevin Kerry, a city steal with you here on Sports 1440. Getting back to that, when you would get up for a rival or whatever, did you remember when a higher level player went down on your team and went, was injured like a Leon Bryce settle, and you remember how everyone sort of pulled together a bit more, and that's what the others have to do here, too. They have to, usually it brings you closer together, right? Like, that's a big hole. Like I said, you cannot, like, who can you replace them with? You know, and I don't want to talk shit about, you know, our other players, there are still really good quality players,

but let's be honest, Leon Bryce settle is what, top three? Top three in the league, probably, past 10 years. So like, you're not replacing him. Others have to step up, but it's going to take a team effort. You know, and sometimes if you have a less skill, you have to bring something else, and that's the thing that I'm worried that we don't have this year. We don't have that much toughness or like, high energy. The team is, you know, like, I don't want to criticize it too much, but let's be honest, we lost some size, some grade, and it's, and it's, it might show a little bit more than usual, because you're missing that player. Like, you're missing guy who can single-handedly, when you're a game, right? Like, he's that good. So, even the injury, when it happened, man, like, come on. Somebody just go and cross the guy in a face. Like, I watched it, and like, I know there was some kind of response, but like, I watch Frederick there,

and it's like gloves on. No, the gloves are off, and you're ragdolling his ass from one corner to the other, and you're trying to, like, punch a hole in his face. That should be the response. Can you imagine, like, somebody would, like, touch, like, let's say, I don't know, Kucherov in Tampa, or Florida, when they were, when they were last couple of years away again, and somebody would touch bark of like that. Can you imagine the mayhem that would, that would cost, like, it would, it would honestly, they would probably have to stop the game, like, go to the locker room, because there would be five guys on top of the one guy, and I just, I just thought, it wasn't as bad as Matthew's, what Toronto did, which was, like, I still can't wrap my head around that, but it wasn't, like, it wasn't the response that I was looking for, and I know there was some, like, guys were, like, cross-checking him here and there. This is the time to send the clear message. Nobody messes with their top blurps. And like, I honestly don't care if you take a one or two-game suspension.

I know it sucks, like, you're not gonna get paid, but let's be honest. You're making enough money to make up for it, and I'm sure guys will chip in to whatever, you know, like, to make up for it, but it's a clear message. And you know what? You don't even have to win the fight, just send the message and just be all over him. Like, I, I, yeah, it's, for me, it was a lack of response to that, and I know it wasn't like a dirty hit, it was just a hard hit, but it's still, it's all school rules. And I know people are like, oh, if you, if you have a clean hit, you should be have to fight, well, don't hit our best player, or, you know, like, right beside Khan, make that with your best player. So don't do that. He was, he was literally just looking for it, and he was running around the whole game, you know, so send him a message. You know, just, I am not promoting, heard him badly, but, like, try to, at least, you know,

send him the message so he will never even look at your dog players, or go after your, or go after their dog players and do the same thing. You mentioned Frederick didn't play the third period last night, which is too bad injured, and this is just when he started to get it going again, too, here it, what happened? Sorry, well, no one, no one really said anything. He didn't come out for the third period. So he never played the third again, which is unfortunate, because after being here for almost a year, since the Olympic break, he's been really good. He has. And that's, that's another thing. That's like, you're losing more size, you're losing more grit. And like, might be a problem. Like, honestly, it might be a problem, like, heading towards the playoffs and in the playoffs. Like, it's, I'd say, it's less about the skill and more about that grit, and more about that energy. So you need these players. It's going to be interesting to see this play. I'm more in the camp of Ladi when I just don't think

this is the year to do it. I think you recharge, you reset and rest. I think this team is due for some rest. The core players will see how they show up. One positive about the Leon injury, though, that I don't know how many people think of it from this perspective is when he got injured, it's not like he just went right down the tunnel. He went and he tried to feel that thing out. He took a shift. So the fact that he was willing to do that, and I know the adrenaline's flowing, and you know, you're not feeling the pain totally. I don't even know in a game like that, probably not shooting them up with toward all. That's for sure. It's not an important of a game regular season, but that's a positive sign. The fact that he was able to do that. So I don't think it's going to be a season ending injury. He'll be back and I think be able to be good to go for the playoffs. I feel the same. You know, like Leon played through some bad injuries, right? Like we all know that in the playoffs.

I think if it would be in the playoffs, he would probably miss just a couple of games. But like this year, and again, I don't want to say like, this is not the year anything can happen in the playoffs. But honestly, like, I don't feel this is the year. So why risk it? Let's see how it's going to play out. But I wouldn't force anything. And like he said, the rest is very important. They went to the back-to-back finals. And it's not just the physical stress. It's the emotional stress of losing those two finals. And maybe they're due to have a shorter season. And I get it. Oilers fans, you won the cup. But there are also human beings there in the locker room that play shitload of hockey. So they need to recharge. And maybe this might be not the year. And like, I am not a quitter. Don't get me wrong. Like I, you know, I would battle all the time. But sometimes, you know, the fate will decide it for you. And maybe this is the year than not a bright-up.

But, you know, just play it out. If it's not going to happen, it's not the end of the world. You know, I know there's some pressure from Connor McDavid's contract, right? Like, we don't want to be wasted that much time. But you're still going to have a good off-season. Guys can recharge. Get healthy. And it's time to add some pieces. And like, attack the next season. Laddie, as we wrap it up here, I just want to know how many pounds you put on since you've been eating your mum's home cook in the last few days. I haven't checked. I haven't checked it yet. Do you know what that means? It is crazy, man. Are you able to grind? Get your sweats in still? Well, my mum said down yesterday, and she showed me the schedule of the meals. And it is crazy. It's like heavy after heavy dumplings, meat, sauces, desserts, cakes, guys. It is crazy.

It is thank God. Thank God Duke is not here because you would never get laid again. He would probably like to come in and he exits. Brr. Fire and duke up. We're duke, I didn't. He didn't even mix in the work. And he's in the middle of it anyways. Thanks for coming on, big guy. I know you gotta get rolling here this afternoon. What's on to go tonight? You know what, I'm actually taking my kids to this pool, so as soon as I'm done here, I'm gonna grab them and I promise my daughter to have a play day with my, one of my best buddies' daughters, so I'm gonna bring all the kids by myself. Obviously, my body's still looking really good, so I have to use it at the beginning of this trip, not at the end when I'm probably like 10 pounds heavier. Okay, pal, thanks for coming on. Have a great weekend. We'll talk soon.

You do, guys. Thanks for having me. I enjoy it. You're better. Good luck. Dude, it's another weekend then shouldn't be wasted in your love life, so try to go out there, throw yourself out there, be confident, buddy. I believe in you. Thanks, Ladi. No problem, buddy. I have your back. I have your back as I'm pushing it into the train track. That's really like it. All right, thanks. Have a good one. Thanks, Ladi. Oh, man, that is so good. That's Latislav Schmidt, our headliner of the day, over in Liebrecht. I say, you know, Liebrecht, not Liebrecht, Jay. You know, yes, Liebrecht. Bring the meatballs. Our headliner of the day brought to you by Mr. Ruder, the number one overall pick in your fantasy plumbing pool. That's Mr. Ruder.ca. You guys didn't know where he was either. You didn't know what the name of the place was. Absolutely not. But that's okay, Kevin, because

Eddie and I at least have the wherewithal to be like, yeah, we don't know. We're not going to try and pronounce it. And then after getting corrected twice, continue to say it again. The thing that they did is he corrected him twice, and then he said it again. He said, yeah, that's it. And Kevin's just like, no, I'm crushing it. And Eddie and I are looking at each other across the desk like, no, Kevin, you're not. You never mind. Like, you know, he's in the Czech Republic. Are you wearing you? Not the south of Italy here. Liebrecht. Liebrecht. Love it. You guys just don't know, D. When we come back, we'll get to some of your texts. We'll talk a little bit more about the orders. Blue J's news, massive with Trey Savage. NCAA Luca Donchitz had a big game last night. Corey Connors, back-to-back Eagles at the Valspark. And still, I think only finished 200. I'll help a guy get to 85. Let's not worry about 85 Eddie. Let's talk about 80. 87. That's straight ahead on the Kevin Carey show with Eddie Steele, Ducat Delburn.

vary by state and insurance plan. All right, welcome back to the big program. She was almost gold time in the studio here in the break moments ago. Almost had to throw down, buddy. You guys almost trapped me in the corner. Never back a fellow into a corner. He starts messing around. Rabbit animal. It's at 21 degrees in here on the electronic thermostat. I saw it was at 25.5. He punched it up to 25. Just to bring it up a little, I would have brought the temperature thing. I would have leveled her out KKK. And why don't you just put your sweater back on or something instead of trying to jack the heat up in here. Naturally, right? A lot of it. It sounds out guns out in the studio. Kevin Carey shows presented by Sports Select. You got the QR code. You have the paper selection slips. And once again, you got a full slate of March Madness games today, starting in a couple hours, even less than that. But I mean, this is going to be an exciting game again. It NCAA March Madness. It was, as Duke said, the games were great

yesterday afternoon and then into the early evening part. The later games, well, they weren't really worth watching. But check it out, sportsselect.com. Textline 833-4014-40. It's playlist Friday. If you got a request, I like that one about 16 tons to what was that one Duke? About 16 tons from Tennessee Ford or something. And he said that reminds me the oiler's season. The oiler's season. Tim says I'd want the heat lower in there too, if Eddie is busting out some hard-boiled eggs. Awful. Scramble today. Absolutely. Awful. The king of Fort Nasty, the oiler's played like the Duke, filling a spot on Walker's roster on a late Sunday night after playing two games prior. Is this true Duke? No, not SK for Walker Sunday nights. Like listen, this past week, after returning from Manville, where we won the championship. I don't know if I'd mentioned that at any point. Winner's

week. That's the 27th time. Oh, my bad. Made it back to Sunday. And like, did I have my best game? Sunday night for the trop snow, but I laid it on the line. I just put my best triumph in impersonation. You what? You did what? I was laying it on the line. Oh, good. Come on, Eddie, do it. No, no, no, no. That was weak. I thought Duke would do it. No, I'm not doing anything. That's your thing, Eddie. There's no stealing. It's just jumping on board with your boy. Yeah. So to the textures, comment, King of Fort Nasty, I bring a much better effort, even when I have nothing left in the tank, then what the oilers did for 40 minutes last. The oilers will try to get back on track tomorrow. And I think it's great. The tap is here mostly regarded by the pundits that they are the best team in the Eastern Conference. You know, Buffles right there now with them too. Carolinas, obviously in the conversation, but tap, I think with Vasilevsky with the pedigree, the cups, Kutcherov, you know, they still got

a pretty good core there. You mentioned earlier, Kutch, right? And you're going to see one, two, and the league points wise going at it with Mick David. You can't let Tampa come in here, Kevin and bully you. You can't get bullied around. I'll tell you what, because they're going to try to. Here's the thing. Tampa, they've answered the bell with Florida. They've answered the bell with Buffalo. Like it comes to a point where instead of waiting for something to happen, you have to make something happen. You know, so in football, say it, I've heard this saying a thousand times. Be the hammer, not the nail. It's exactly what you just said, Kevin. Go out there and deliver it. Go out there and be the team that sets the tone, not has to rise to the level. It's the whole thing. After last night in Kutcherov is at 114 points with Tampa Bay winning Vancouver, Connor, shut out, obviously, last night, 115. The art Ross trophy is up for grabs

between three players, between Mick David Kutcherov, McKinnon's at 11. Where do you think it lands? I'll probably go Kutcherov to be honest with you. Really? Yeah. Why? Is there why behind that? I mean, I don't, I mean, you can talk about the order's power play without Leon. That's coming into player. I really thought, and I said this right off the hop, my buddy of mine texted, and I said, he said Leon's out for the rest of the year, and I said, yeah, and I said, I expect Connor, Mick David, to even take it up more of a notch. There was a time this year where we said Connor is playing the best ever hockey that he's played in his career. Well, that's what I expect down the stretch here. And if that happens, then I mean, it's Connors, but the power play thing, they got to figure that out in a hurry here. And I don't know if they have to go even a little bit more so with two units with Connor out there for the, you know, for the whole 145, whatever you want to call it. You know, and rotate a few more guys in, then it's just Ross Levick and it's a boy,

which they have been doing or trying to do. Without Leon, the past two games, they're one for six. Yeah. So the fourth, they were one for four the other night. The fourth power play, though Eddie was more of a clock killer, where the game was. They just wanted to control the puck there. No, they weren't trying to really do absolutely. Hey, around the sporting world, the Blue Jays announced Trey Savage is going to start the season on the IRL, I guess, for the major league term. So there's an old phrase and they, I think they're trying to the way they say that, you know, a shoulder in pinchment, like a little pinch. The problem is with that is there's an old phrase in baseball. Elbows are a year. Shoulders are a career. It's just the motion. Now, everyone knows how Trey's Savage pitches his delivery from way over the top. It's not conventional. Does it add more stress

on his shoulder? Well, he's such a young guy, but he pitched for his age and I know it's minor league ball, but his innings were pretty high with a significant 140, you know, lots at the major league level and then in the playoffs at the end. He's 22 this season. Yeah. The good thing for the Jays and I'll tell you what, like it was a month ago, we're not more. I guess wouldn't win Bieber announced that he was taking the offer from, you know, signing the offer from the Jays, the tender. Everyone went, they have more depth at pitching than probably anyone. Too much depth than almost now. They barely have enough. They need it now. You got a guy like Eric Lauer who's going to be in the starting rotation. Sure, there's going to be in the starting rotation. You know, they signed cease. They signed ponds. They need these guys. So I like how young Trey is. So that's, you know, that bones well for him. You're right, though, in terms of his a shoulder and just looking at his delivery. Yeah. It's very over the top and I know how

my shoulders feel over the top. I want to bring in Fannie Fenwick here for a moment to talk about Luca Donchin's 60 points last night for the L.A. Lakers. Every time the heat play, something happens. Is someone putting up a big number here? What's going on? Yeah. No, well, really, Luca's on a tear. He's 7-0 since this is the big story. He's 7-0 since his fiance took the kids away. And so in that time, he's basically averaging a 40 point triple double. He's absolutely like cardiac right now. And he's, this is his push to win the MVP. And the worst part is he's probably not going to win it because SGA and the Thunder so much better. And then like, Wendy is doing all the things he's doing in San Antonio. He's just, he is popping off. And I just don't think it's enough for him to get to the finish line. Go ahead, Eddie. Go back to the story. What happened with his kids? While back, his fiance stopped like, you know, stopped like, took away all the posts of them and

her and Luca together. And now it came out just a couple of weeks ago that his fiance was seeking child support from him and all these other things. And so the running theory is that his fiance left and took the kids with her. And now is like, now he's just alone in his own house and Los Angeles. And since that news came out, he's the Lakers are 7-0 and he's playing some of the best ball he's ever played offensively. No comment thought he'd maybe hum a lot more like try to get 70-80 get him, but in that range there come on now. He can't do that to BAM. Out of respect, he couldn't do it. Anyway, hey, it's the Raptors are in Denver tonight, correct? So that's a big one. Yeah, it's going to be a big, big loss, unfortunately, on the old column for the Raptors, unfortunately, but now it's going to be a fun watch regardless. Yeah. Coming up at the top of the hour, Mark Spector from Rogers SportsNet, we'll check in. We'll also go in or out with Eddie's
