We got Sean Kincaid from Dark Cloud Brewery in the studio. He's been, this is the third year that we've done this on St. Patrick's Day, or in and about. St. Patrick's Day just maybe slide up to the mic a little bit closer. They're Sean and so I mean, you're bringing all this great Irish whiskey. It's such a passion of yours. And I mean, some of these questions are going to be similar to what we talked about over the years, but where did you get that passion like to get involved in making Irish whiskey?

2:00It's funny. I tell a story all the time. I didn't really drink all that much. You know my wife. She managed the druid and burns for almost a decade. So we met at karaoke at the druid and she would bar 10 on the weekends. And I would always drive. So all my friends got the benefit of having bartender behind the bar. But yeah, I want to trip on the other sports radio station that doesn't exist anymore. In 2016, we went on the trip in 2018 and did five days in Scotland, 10 in Ireland, not basically kickstarted my love of whiskey, broad vote. It does in bottles back with me. And I was like, yeah, this is the perfect collection. Yeah. Now there's almost 1,500 in my den. So yeah, a little bit bigger collection now. 1,500. Yeah. And I'm sure they range from like types, price, how you guys call it like between one and two and the caskets and everything like that. So I mean, just touch on that. Yeah. I probably own more unique Irish whiskey. He's the name

3:04else in Canada. I have over 260 wells. Last I counted of different brands. Obviously I have triples and quadruples of some of them. Then Scotch whiskey, a ton of that, a lot of Canadian whiskey as well, really trying to promote that in the last year or so. All these obvious reasons. And yeah, just fell in love with whiskey, jumped in both feet and haven't looked back. So when you got dark cloud going and then just maybe tell about that transition because you sort of went along with two stacks here as well. So how did that work? So good friend. I started a podcast with a buddy of mine during COVID. We were bored and have anything to do. So we started a whiskey podcast. He also decided to start PWS imports just his board and he had a day job. But he's like, I want to import whiskey. He asked me what kind of Irish whiskey's to look at. And I first thing I said was two stacks. They were pretty new at the time. They had just launched that drama in a can. So small can of 100 mil whiskey. I just said, you should check these guys out. And they had a meeting

4:08and they brought them on board and they've been importing them ever since. And then Travis Watts, he founded the Emton Scotch Club, our whiskey club. And he came on board with PWS imports. And it's a really, really good friend of mine. And now we started a new podcast about eight months ago. A buddy of mine, Jeremy and Vancouver and Travis and I and we released episode once a month on the first of every month. It's cool. Our original goal was to keep it to an hour. And I think our shortest episode is two hours and 45 minutes. So we have a whole month to listen to it or watch on YouTube. Yeah, but just kind of fell in love with whiskey. I take every chance I can to learn more about it. I've had some really, really cool experiences through whiskey as well. So also a big sports guy. We're going to get to that momentarily. 5:09of Peaky Blinders. So I was thinking about, you know, when we were talking about coming in again. And every time like, you know, the guys either got a cigarette hanging out. Well, all of them have a cigarette hanging out of their mouth or they're drinking Irish whiskey. Yeah. So I just think it mad. I'm mad. Could you imagine if Sean could have the whiskey contract for that for that series? I do have a bottle of bush mills actually got it was only released in the US a couple of years ago. It was called Prohibition. And it was they made it in the style that would have been what they had back when Peaky Blinders was around. It was Thomas Shelby Company. Really? Yeah. It was beautiful. And it was like 30 bucks US. So I managed to get a few of them over the border. And I got a couple of my collection. Yeah. Oh, that's a good stuff. So obviously a big sports fan. Maybe tell the last time in I don't know. We talked about it in the sense that because of the the blue jays angle was still yet to come. The story hadn't come yet. But Sean is a massive LA Dodgers fan. So you can imagine how this world series was for you being a big Dodger

6:13fan. And you've been a Dodger fan forever. Yeah. So he's actually got a tattoo of the Dodgers logo or yeah, on the inside of his lip, which is nuts. Like when you see this thing, you go, you've got to be kidding me. But it's on the inside. So it's quite quite unreal. But you said you lost a lot of friends over that couple of weeks there. Yeah. For a couple of weeks, I was pretty lonely. Half of the the world series I was at work. And you know, all through the playoffs, we were cheering for the blue jays. And I love the blue jays, but Dodgers and my team have been since I was a kid. So yeah, it was pretty lonely. Luckily, the game seven was after work. So I was in my room. And I just passed back and forth in my room and camp. But yeah, the I mean, that was easily the best series of baseball I've ever watched. And I mean, it was a win-win for me. Either way, I was going to be happy with who won. But yeah, I was very happy when the Dodgers pulled out. Yeah, I mean, what you must have been thinking like games seven, you know, the blue jays had

7:14opportunities. Yeah, the Dodgers had offered. I mean, it was just it could have went either way. Like matter of inches multiple times multiple, you know, with IKF at home and everything else had happened. Yeah. You know, there were so many close plays, close calls and home runs that were hit. And man, it was unreal. So I've been lucky, though, all four of my major sports teams that I love. Well, three of them have won a championship in the time that I can remember. Really? What are those run down the list for us? Boston Celtics and NBA Dodgers, obviously. Seahawks are my NFL team. So got lucky this year. Now if the Oilers could just finally get over that hump, it would be awesome. So you must even like again, we've talked about, I guess we would have talked about the first Stanley Cup final for the Oilers, which was heartbreaking. And the second one was just as heartbreaking. I mean, when you lose and get as close as they can and have been, it doesn't make it feel any any better. So I mean, do you have, I think I think it's

8:17safe to say, Sean, that out of all the last three years, this is probably the least confident the Oilers fan base is going into the playoffs. Definitely. Yeah, I feel that. I mean, I have a big hockey chat group that I'm in. Yeah, it's definitely a different feeling this year than it has in the past. I mean, I think that if they pull their act together and signs are starting to turn that way. And if they get goal-tending, then that's the big issue, I think. I mean, this is, you think about it where this team has come from at the beginning of the year where Conor Ingraham, no one even thought of he would be where he's at right now, never mind a possibility. And now, I mean, this is his team moving forward. So we'll see exactly what happens. So Sean can Cade from Dark Cloud Brewery. Can you explain Dark Cloud and like again, without two stacks, how the association is? Yeah. These two stacks is a pretty big. Yeah, they're, so two stacks is in

9:19Ireland. They're not a distillery. They don't make whiskey. What they do is they source it. It's a historical term called bonding. So they source whiskey from all the distilleries across the island. Some of them, they just recask into different barrels. Other times, they blend stuff together and then they release it. It's kind of a throwback to the history. Dark Cloud, it was a nickname that was given in my real job. And I actually told the story of it on our podcast, our original podcast. And then as soon as I told that story, it followed me to whiskey. And it became my name in whiskey as well. So yeah, two stacks. I said, Travis imports them. Right. So we have a really close relationship. They reached out to Jeremy and I, the other host of our podcast. And it's funny. His production company is a big video, audio pictures. It's white cloud productions. So it just worked out that dark cloud, white cloud. And so we released, we've done two now in a series of six. And it's just called Canada Cloudcast. And they send us some

We a good friend of Daven and ours, Darren, he actually termed Birdogi. Birdogi, if you have a birdie putt, you three putt it to get it bogey. Then you might have one too as well, yes. Well, they're just having one every hole. The cans fit perfectly in a golf bag. It's not like you're sticking a full bottle in there and they're durable, and yeah, it's perfect. So maybe just run down. There's like again, two stacks as you've got this and then well, maybe we should we'll leave specs little thing there, the writer's tears that he talked about yesterday and you were listening and you said, well, I gotta do that too. But the Irish cream liquor, that's got to be very popular in the sense that people are, you know, they liked it in the coffee or they just like it on the rocks or just whatever. Yeah, it's literally you can do anything with it. I love it in coffee, but I love sitting, you know, at night in front of the TV poor glass with a couple ice cubes in it. Yeah. It is by far the best cream liqueur that's on the market. Oh, we're very lucky to get it here. And actually on our March podcast, we spoke with

13:37owner of two stacks, one of them. And he said that when they launched the cream, it was kind of a passion project and novelty. And now they cannot keep it in stock. So it comes in the can form and it also comes in the full bottle. That's awesome. Then I see the one with the fruit drops, but that's just that's a whiskey that's flavored. Yeah. So it's not it's not flavored in the traditional sense of a flavored whiskey. What they did is they took some of their distillate and they put it in different brandy cast fruit brandy cast. So this one's apple brandy. They did a blackberry and a couple other ones. We got a limited supply here. They also come in the cans and Ontario, you could actually get a four pack or three pack with the cans of the different fruit drops. But yeah, it's it's not flavored in the sense of super sweet that people think of with flavored whiskey. But yeah, it's delicious. Michelle wants to know from our text line, what's the name of the whiskey podcast? It's last call whiskey podcast. Okay. Gavin Texan morning guys thoughts on Jamison Crested, formerly Crested 10. Yeah. So it's a kind of upper echelon of the Jamison line.

14:42It's funny. The people in the States never got it. And we I don't know. They just didn't distribute it there, but we had it here. I love it. It's one of my favorite Jamison products. Yeah, it used to be a 10 year old. And now they got rid of the age statement, but it's just a higher malt content, more sherry cask influence on it. Right. The Canada cloud casks too. Yeah. Can you explain that? And is that is that is that distilled here? Or is it no? So it's we did the first one, which when we did the first one, we thought it was just a one off. And so we said, well, single pot still is the style of Irish whiskey that they're known for. So we said, we need a single pot still. And they sent us over this crazy one that was matured in three different sherry casks. And then the three were blended together and put into Pedro Hemines Barrel. It was rich, seven years old, really strong fruit flavors. Number two is a single grain. So complete opposite end of the spectrum in terms of the style. 13 years old. And they finished it for about nine months in a Pasito de Pantelaria cask. Now

15:47don't ask me what that is. What it translates to, but it's a tiny island off the coast of Italy. You can only make that. It's a fortified dessert wine. You can only make it on that island. And they said try this. It was one of the four samples. And it blew us away. Again, we didn't have any clue what it was. Since then I found that dessert wine on a store shelf here. And I bought three of them and it's delicious. Yeah, I was just very, very cool. And the two that have been released so far are complete polar opposites in terms of flavor. I just poured them two nights ago at a charcée in Beaumont. I do a St. Paddy's Day tasting there. And they were the first two whiskeys of the night. And yeah, you could see on people's faces that it was total contrast, but they're both delicious. Sean Concade from Dark Cloud Brewery with this. How many tastings have you done here prior to St. Paddy's Day? So this year I toned it down. I did it one Saturday night at whiskey drop in the West End and then charcée I did two seedings. So back to back. Years prior I've done six tastings in five days in four cities. So two or two Lurda pouring

16:50Irish whiskey. When I only get a week off at a time, it's a little daunting to spend the whole week traveling in Alberta pouring whiskey. So yeah, it took it a little easier this year, but yeah, it was so much fun. And people support my tastings. And you know, I'm just spreading the love of Irish whiskey. Actually, we missed anything here. Like how can people get the product and stuff like that? So the four can packs, you can buy cans separately in singles at most whiskey stores. The four packs, wine and beyond are the only ones that carry them. I think they're on sale right now for under 30 bucks, which is insane. The cloud cask two, there's maybe a dozen bottles left on shelves in the city, a couple in stores in Calgary. The cream, most whiskey stores carry that as well. 17:52that's what I'll be drinking today. Yeah, red breast 15 is probably my favorite out of the age statement red breasts. It's different style than the 12 or 12 cast strength. For me, red breast is kind of decline in quality in the last couple of years, but it's still very worthy for. Tron, this is always great. I always enjoy it and I like, I love the bottles and how cool for the writer's tears specs bottle because that's his, you know, he was talking about it yesterday. Yeah, I always say that writer's tears is probably the best named whiskey in the world. Actually, on our trip, we were eating breakfast in, you know, hotel restaurant and the bar was in the middle and I looked up and I just saw a box and said writer's tears on that. We happened to be in Sligo, which is where Eats is from. Okay. Eats country. So I was just like, you know, it's perfect. It's apt. And then obviously got into whiskey and started drinking. It's one of my favorite brands now. Yeah, it's awesome. Well, that's what readers, that's what happens to readers. It should be readers tears after reading specs column is what it should be. Possibly, yeah.

18:53Tron, thanks for coming in. Yeah, this is great. This always, I always enjoy it and St. Paddy's day and it's going to be a great day. We still got about 14 hours to go here before.
