Hi, this is Pablo Torei from Pablo Torei finds out and today I want to talk to you about Boost Mobile because we spent a lot of time analyzing inefficiencies in sports, over value contracts, money tied up in the wrong places, and so on, but those inefficiencies aren't just on a roster, sometimes they're in your own monthly expenses. Boost Mobile says switching to their $25 unlimited forever plan can unlock up to $600 in savings a year. That's $25 a month for unlimited data, talk and text when you bring your own phone. Let's do this. He's waiting the arrival of Scotty Upshall. He hasn't dialed in yet. He's not... He's going... Oh! He's in California. Well, yeah, but he's probably going... He's probably just waking up right now, 9.02. No, he's got family. Sure. He's probably awake. He's awake. He's awake. But he just probably found out that you were on today, and maybe he's going, eh. Well, he probably is... Sorry, I'm sure. Sorry, I'm sure. I bet he likes it. Well, he's not going to see it, because we only have him on the phone. He's probably looking for sunglasses to wear, if he's watching you on some of those shoes. I like him. You know, for your new job, you can get... Did you buy this shirt yourself, or was it a gift? No, I bought it at East Men's Wear. What I do is $175 shirt. I wait for the two to go, they do buy one, get another one for free, when they have their sales. This one was so free. I don't know. That's just what I like. I like it. I appreciate it. I appreciate it. I like it. A lot of our listeners that have been watching on our streaming services have said the same thing. The only Frank didn't like it. Frank called me...
American. American's have zero style. Let's be honest. Frank, especially. Think about him. Yeah. Think about Frank. It could be up here right now. The light is on. Yes, it is. Which means, you know what, that's time for our puck report. How about farming for a lab? How is that going? We'll be able to talk about that after he's ready to go here. Maybe, maybe, up we can give him some tips, how to get ladies. That was... Yeah. Who else? Like, if Abduc cannot help you, nobody else can help you, seriously. Time now for the puck report. Brought to you by Fountain Tire. And at Fountain Tire, we focus on one thing, and that is your vehicle from tires to wheels to oil changes and vehicle repairs. We got you covered. Visit FountainTire.com to book your appointment today, as we welcome back, Scotty. Upshow from Missing Curfew Podcast, morning, updog, you're with Kevin Carey. Slatislav, Shmead, thanks for jumping on Sports 1440, is always really appreciated, big
guy. Absolutely, boy, it's my pleasure. How we doing? I hear it's a little chilly up there, as far as my family and four Macs, as it's, they're getting a little brisky, a little cold. Yeah. It's made to a little different than down here in Newport Beach, my friend. Oh, come on. Oh, my God. Rub it in. Well, I don't know if you heard the end there, Laddy was just saying with producer Duke, you know, he's trying to get him on that show farming for love. And maybe we can get him down to Newport Beach and maybe you could help him out because this single life is not working very well for him, seriously. He needs some help. Well, you know, if there's anything I was good at, it's been a good wingman. I was known for my awful antics of the plate. So if there's a guy sitting next to me, they can help the last apartment I got. Oh, good stuff. I love it. Being down there, what do you, what do you see from the Anaheim Ducks here? I'll be in the sense that I don't think anyone expected them to be in first place in
the Pacific right now. But what do you notice with the ducks here in the last little bit? Yeah. I mean, the ducks are, you know, what they're exciting to watch is what they are. Their young players have really taken a step, you know, Cuttergote this year, Leo Carlson back healthy skating well, Owen Zellweger on the backside, you know, Beckett Seneca is playing out of his mind and, you know, scoring goals at will. And then they just, just the overall, you know, they're overall mojo. I think Coach Q gives them, you know, a good game plan, go out and play hard, have fun, score goals, and, you know, win games. Kind of like the Edmonton Oilers sort of, you know, in the mentality where, you know, maybe we let in three or four night, but if we score five, you know, we're good. They, you know, take the over is what we often say on our podcast with, with anyone watching the ducks because they just, you know, there's limited defense to Thai octane offense. I think Don Skoy has been an incredible, you know, backstop for them this year.
He's played extremely well, even Billy Hussle stepping in from, you know, the last little bit since the Olympics has played well, but it's good to have that in the backyard here in Newport Beach. A lot of excitement around ducks hockey. That's for sure. Well, how do you think they're going to, they're going to do in the playoffs, you know, like usually we all know defense wins the championship. So like when you talk about they giving up three, four goals, do you think I, are they going to be able to sustain the same, same kind of offense like in the regular season? No, I definitely don't. And, you know, I think adding John Carlson is, is a key piece to sort of trying to stabilize that back end. It has been a weak point there all year. And, you know, Vlad, you know this, but it's a playoff time things, things tighten up. And games become tough, minutes are longer, played out there, shifts are longer. And what we're witnessing even here with the Edmonton Oilers right now, it's almost
like the switch has gone off where they decide to tighten up in these games and they find themselves playing way better, way more consistent, playing from their own end out, which is what they've done every year, you know, just at different times, but going into the playoffs, they seem to have things pretty, pretty buttoned up where, you know, they understand the only way we win is if we, is if we take care of our own zone and then we just trust that we'll score three a night, you know, but you can't, you can't run in guy and come playoff time. Yeah. Or it'll come back and bite you in the ass. Hey, how good do you think that Leo Carlson's going to be here, up dog? And you mentioned him, you know, when he just asked you in general about the ducks, but, I mean, this is a guy that has, you know, he's got everything, speed, size, everything, everything, man. Oh, yeah. What's his ceiling here? You think? Yeah, it's incredible. You know what? I was first, I was first made aware of him by Alex Dean, who was just kind of coming into his role as a sort of an advisor to Doug Armstrong after he retired.
Alex was spending some time in Sweden with his family. You know, he stayed over there for a couple of years and was scouting and, and he put this guy on the radar, you know, back when we first, you know, geez, we were doing our podcast. We might have been a year or two in. So this is three, four years ago and he said, upbeat, we got this kid out of Sweden who's tall and big and feisty and wins puck battles. And he's like, I would take, you know, I'd be taking him first overall. There's, you know, limbic question. And this is a, this is a, this is a guy that looks at hockey from the hockey IQ out, right? If you have hockey IQ, that's one. If you have size and skill and everything else, that's, that's two. And this was him bringing, you know, Leo to my attention back then. Now, you watch the way he competes, you know, he doesn't lose the puck battle. He's, you know, he's shifty, he's the ice well, he uses his teammates. And I think, you know, just getting to know him a little bit, he's a great guy.
He's, you know, he's a good, young guy likes to learn from, from the vets and, and will be a superstar. So to answer your question, sealing is high. Oh, good. Yeah. I'm big, big fan of his too. Like he, he literally, if there's a guy, you can, you can tell, like he's got everything. This is, this is one of those guys in the end, each other, you can tell he's got everything. And the way they're playing, right? Like, like you said, like they're nice and loose. They can, I think you, like coach Q is like, okay, but them making mistakes, right? Like they're young guys. So, you know, you're going to make mistakes and that's how you learn, right? Like it's, you know, I'm sure you had coaches just like me when, you know, somebody made mistake. They yell at you. What is generation they don't, they don't respond to the verbal. So I think they, they locked out with, with the coach like that. Just more about the defense now. Well, there's some young interesting pieces there. Do you, who do you think is going to be the leader on the defense moving forward next few years?
Or foreseeable future? I mean, I don't think it's a question that, you know, the deal that Jackson Lacholman sign before the season started this year solidifies him as a guy that they want to build around and they hope can carry you know the torch and you think of all the demon that have come through you know anaheim ducks hockey you know from back in the day with the need of myers and pronger you know and then you get into you know foul or who left here this you know last year to St. Louis and someone needed to kind of come in and replace that and they've got rid of guys they've they've got rid of these or montour hampers lindale ship they had they ship lind home out they shipped the young kid I love he went to Philadelphia you know he shipped him out there drysdale so you know they've been they've struggled to really like you know figure out their D and I'm not saying they figured it out now like I can't tell you I'm the biggest right you know goodest fan
on the planet for more reasons than one not just because of his puck handling skills but I I think that they're in a good place with jox on the comb leading the charge I love the way this you know oh and zell wager ex-camel's blazer skates and he's you know he plays that style of hockey you got to have one or two of these young demon that that play on their toes and skate forwards a lot I think that that's a you know that's a tool for your team but yeah that's your question it's got to be local he's a stud hey laddy wants to ask you about the big news in these parts here that happened on twos did I didn't call a rattle go ahead laddy well are you aware of the mech get mech in and hit on ingram have you seen it oh yeah okay so what is your take on that because because I have a very strong opinion but like I want your take on it because people are going crazy and they think the major was justified yeah no listen my business partner I think is on
the same side of this fence as you shanel brine and rightfully so I mean let's just let's just keep the game the way the game should be played and that's our superstars should be able to make superstar plays going in and when you beat you know if I'm taking you wide for me and I beat you and you're you're caught and you nudge me because you're behind me and you're out of place you're you have a terrible position on me and you you force me into your goalie and I'm going I can't skate as fast as Nathan McKinnon no nor can many guys but yeah that that was what happened if if you if you have good position on me I will never ever get to the goalie and if I do I'm running him over by myself in this case you know I believe nurse was and McKinnon had nowhere to go if the unfortunate circumstance here is that Ingram's cut yeah that he's bleeding from the face that doesn't happen to go it's a little different if it's you know a demon or something like that so they're trying to protect
their day quarterbacks for the NFL of what you know they're trying to protect and you hate to see guy you go down especially in Edmonton you know we need as many goalies as a kid but it wasn't a warning five and I think everyone would agree anyone who played the game would agree I think if you're an Edmonton oiler fan you probably you know you disagree yeah you'd be cool with it too yeah you know what I think if he wasn't bleeding from the face it's a two minute you know he's caught and he's going off with the towel overs you know over his face wandering you know if he's if he's in mala land if that wasn't the case you know it's a two but McKinnon is just so powerful and you can't take away the the fact that these guys you know to score goals in the NHL you got to get to the net yeah and if you beat guys to the net and they nudge you and you hit the goalie that that that should not be warranted a five minute major Scotty optional with us on the Kevin Carroll show with Ladislav Schmidt on sports 1440 and never asked you this story uh
upy but um we've had Vern Fiddler on many times uh and lots recently with his son playing here and Vern as you know as a character and you were with him in Milwaukee and Nashville can you tell the story when I guess you sort of broke into his house out of that word what yeah yeah there's a couple stories listening so me and Fiddler go way back so I you know I was Fort Mac kid I used to come up and and train at Barry butts it's like Barry butts good guy trainer here local guy in Edmonton and Fiddler's in there and he was just kind of grinding through the WHO at the time um you know and you can tell he had some some sort of character to him but you know he's a local middlewoods guy you like the golf but I kick his you know kick his butt at golf so we got to know each other well well fast forward you know my first um my think my first or second year pro I was thinking of moving to Kelona so in a quick long story short I moved to Kelona I stay with him for
my first month as I'm like trying to figure things out I'm only 20 21 and uh I come home one night I went out with this I went out with this girl got lost went to a party came home I had this bike and I rode the bike he lived up this mountain I rode this bike all the way up this hill finally got to his house at like three four in the morning and the doors are locked so I find a basin window and I open it up and I like kind of you know jump through thinking I like covered all my tracks and like you know clean things often and then I wake up in the morning he comes in he's like dude what the hell you know what the hell happened last night I'm like what are you talking about he's like my office downstairs like the whole room's just just the disaster there's pictures broke and everything I thought I was just being like you know super sly and cognito and and you know lo and behold I just I you know I left mud all over the carpet and yeah it was just a disaster so it was like a scene from it happened it happened but he shouldn't have locked the front door
uh exactly it was his fault it was like a scene from the wolf of the Wall Street when they take the quailoots is like oh this is nothing to happen yeah I was exactly that yeah well he's a sleepwalk so he does he does more you know I I blamed it on his sleepwalking I'm like dude are you kidding me I'm like I can no I wasn't me I'm like you're the sleep you're the sleepwalker dude it's funny it's a good one uh hey happy what just let our listeners go and we got so many you know that know you out here and in Fort Mac just put the family and what just keeping you busy I know you got the podcast going with with uh we'll be in missing curfew but just maybe more with all the kids and running around and doing all that kind of stuff yeah no things are things are great actually fellas before I before I was jumping on air with you guys I dropped my little guy back in moths at school he's only three he's uh he's in t-ball and hockey right now so he's buzzing around uh we got two other beautiful girls Izzy and uh little Goldie who's 10 months um so life
is growing fast there and um you know I'm on this actually to talk about a little bit of sports I'm on this pro tour open it's an incredible thing for these ex athletes there's 80 guys and uh Jeremy Rona hit me up about four months ago and said hey they've got this tour going with baseball guys hockey guys NFL um NBA and we'd love for you to be part of it so yeah so we play six events a year there's a cut there's like FedEx points there's a tour championship in September um and it's great it's you know for like gladiates it's all like a locker room feel they bring these locker rooms they've got massage tables it's like that's right everything you can drink they get they gamble so they've really made it a special place for for ex athletes to compete so you can check that out online that's the throw off tour open yeah fearsys there too right fearsys there too it's still listen fearsy Brad May Darren Pang um you know Brendan Moral Mike Medano
you know somehow I got thrown into this mix which is incredible with everyone we see all buddy like I would have you there seeing you at blockoff what about Joe Pobelsky is he part of the he lost in a three hole playoff last it was heartbreaking um you know I watched him down the stretch and at the tournament with his but he's that he's you know a hell of a golfer he is that is he and he's a get gets he's a hell of a golfer get see who's the best hockey player golfer than is it Joe P yeah it's Pobelsky for sure uh there's there's a there's a few there's a few knocking at his heels you know we he got uh Kyle Quincy's good James with new skis a stick you know a local local boy Ray Whitney had it going for forever and he lost his touch I don't know what the hell Ray Whitney yeah he won a pro am here years ago he did yeah he was really he was a hell of a player he was fun to watch yeah yeah he's he's a legend legend I don't know if you remember this years ago up dog they had this like a long time ago where there was a tour
similar to what you're talking about it and I mean there was an old Pittsburgh pirate's pitcher Rick Rodin the best hockey player back in the day was Dan Quinn I don't know if you remember him yeah but he was the best the best hockey player golfer so they did this a long time ago it's great that it's being resurrected oh that's cool that's gotta be awesome man yeah hi this is Pablo Tore from Pablo Tore finds out and today I want to talk to you about boost because we spent a lot of time analyzing inefficiencies in sports overvalued contracts money tied up in the wrong places and so on but those inefficiencies aren't just on a roster sometimes they're in your own monthly expenses boost mobile says switching to their $25 unlimited forever plan can unlock up to $600 in savings a year that's $25 a month for unlimited data talk and text when you bring your own phone if that money is trapped in a pricey phone bill it might be worth a second look visit boost mobile dot com to learn more after 30 gigabytes customers may experience lower speeds customers pay $25 per month as long as they remain active on the boost mobile

Newport Beach because you can you can't beat that area down there you can't you cannot it's not as good as it is that's why I'm not allowed there anymore this me walking without a shirt on the beach would just be not a good idea well again but no but think about this you could be the as his main man his main man I'll be just said that like I mean yeah but like I'll be happy he's a good being man but he's too good looking you know like so he would he would take so you want to take his place yeah I'm not as good looking as he is I would keep my shirt on so you know that would help but I think nobody would understand me with my accent to down there it's about attracting if you attract see a half dozen women and then all of a sudden you know then the Duke has like if you're rolling with up he I don't care you can look like me and be an absolute dog uh you get some some residuals no doubt about it see but what's good you get some shrapnel yeah like you know then what you're in you know like the Duke could be like Kastanza at the model yeah the model I thought this
was a meatpacking plant you know once you're in and then Duke you just got to start spinning some yarns right maybe you bring out the picture from your wallet of my my my fiance it's really I thought that the picture next to next to the hey he's got a straw line that's all strong sorry when we come back we're going to go in road with lattice lavish meat on the Kevin Curie's stroke presented by sports select with the ducat Delburn and Josh Fenwick on sports 1440 AM radio we're streaming on youtube x facebook instagram and twitch the big program 1026 in Edmonton the Kevin Curie show is this sum 41 Canadian band sum 41 what is the fat light or whatever this song was no that's uh this one too deep fat leaps the other one it's actually my favorite but it's not in the system for some reading I don't know why but yeah fat leaps of bangers I I had their CD growing up in check seriously I bought it yeah I like that that was I think my I've been there

letter buck game day of the mn 2 dollars they are looking to win a third straight game for just the second time this season as they take on the Dallas stars from Texas nights area of focus for those of us watch in the game from our coaches and beyond is how the oilers new look penalty kill holds up to the Dallas stars NHL number two ranked power play you want to go first on this one laddie because yeah I I'm out okay I'm going to be focusing on these on coverage for the oilers they get yeah special teams great they they can decide the game but for me it's going to be more about how we can like Dallas is all obviously another team powerhouse team they have some very good offensive players so I want to see oilers tied it up in their zone because it hasn't been good even though they won last two games they it needs to be improved in their own zone they are giving up way too much though in my opinion you know there's there's nothing wrong with this Duke because
again Dallas is number two and this is without several key guys in the lineup but and this is sort of a cop out answer and we're assuming that Tristan Jari's going to play so I want to see what Tristan Jari does against not a good team a team like Dallas came on in the second period there and he had two big saves right off the top man that wasn't easy at all and it's four on four and you got you're thinking okay let's just get to the third period here yeah but he is to make two saves and then he was really good in the third so for me there's nothing wrong with this Duke but I'm going to go I want to see and that's assuming Jari's going so and we all do but both very good answers and Laddie you're in years in particular sticks with me because even in that win earlier this week over the avalanche like the oilers played well and it was an exciting game maybe one of the best we saw between two really good teams this season on it on a whole but I definitely thought especially in the first half there were still shifts where they get running around and we know how high octane the avalanche can be when you you're throwing a god agnasium cadre of the mix now we spent time playing with natus and McKinnon and Brock Nelson's having a great year so that's
all excellent and when you when you take that to almost another level from four lines rolling that the stars can do even without ranting and hints as we've alluded to all morning I think that's a very good one but this oilers penalty kill which has been had been struggling so much they the Vegas gold night power play number three in the league they can get went over two on Sunday in the olors win the path of the Vegas power play did but I don't know if we really got a fair look at a fair sample size of it and I think this stars one once again reiterate even without these big names I think it provides another challenge that maybe they haven't yet seen since the new guys debut in that really bad loss to Carolina we could go so I'm I'm really interested to see and I you never want to see games necessarily decided by special teams but I would love to see the the stars penalty kill get a few cracks at going up against this oilers penalty kill tonight so and the golden anything Kevin yeah 100% how Jari if you if you can ride that momentum from such a strong showing take to get them to win if anyone needs confidence 100% because we've talked about the other players
that we've been saying all years need this little pick me up we're seeing Trent Frederick plays best hockey the the blue line is kind of rounding into form a little bit even if it is still fragmented for shifts or periods at a time that the goal tending now remains the big asterisk in question mark if Jari can piece together another good one here and I think it would go a long way to them going you know jumping up the playoffs standings here a little bit on the other side of tonight's matchup the Dallas stars leagues hottest team nine oh and one in their last 10 Jason Robertson lead the team 34 goals 74 points and he is a pending unrestricted free agent do a new contract and I believe as long as the new deal comes in below a 13 and a half million dollar a av he'll be back as a Dallas star well I even think 13 five's a little hot I get where you're coming from with the cap going up I see him at the same level as ranted in here and you know he's just coming in in a perfect time there's certain times where the you know we've we've seen the salary cap state level for several years and look to unfortunately the guys that were signing contracts
at that time it's that that's how it is yeah like it yeah caps going up I get it I understand all that you know he's got a good thing going I think he's at the same number at ranting and leave him and if he wants to go they'll say here's 12 million for whatever the term is I think you got to take it well it's not going to be better somewhere else for you I I totally agree I have him more around like 11 and a half 12 maybe yeah like the cap is going up but still like like he's he's like you have something good going on like is it that big of a difference 500 million you can talk about state free state state right right and where you can find a better place to win exactly like you you have good thing going on it's a strong team you can you can still use that money on other players too like it's not you know like you're signing somewhere as an unrestricted free agent no you you have good thing going on you you're you're in Dallas like at home I think the fair price around 11 and a half to both yeah I if I'm him I would take it like so the reason I look here is
the other guys that as of next season the highest earners in league we know Capri's I was big new deal 17 Leon at 14 Jack I go on Austin Matthews the next two at 13 and a half and 13 to five we've seen Austin Matthews offensive production by the own standard he set a few years ago dry up by a relative Saturday Jason Robertson he's had a hundred points once he's he's been a point per game player essentially his entire career since breaking in and he's still just 26 years old yeah this is his first crack at the unrestricted market which is why I do think that we know the Cap's going up and it's seemingly is only going to continue to go up for the foreseeable future if he if the stars want to lock him in and get another really good contract on the books for a long time seven eight years I think 13 at minimum 12 but maybe upwards of that will be the tag that it comes in and the new deal for Harley kicks in they still got sagging on the books for another year well of course he's injured right now is not going to play in this season the the Branton in contract but you've got some good value deals in Johnston and hence and even Heisken and
I think they can still make this work even if they are going to be up against it here pretty tight money wise if they do in fact about in the fold yeah his new the first year of his new deal is this season at what is it eight plus eight to five eight to five yeah so and the other like one of the underrated things about Robertson he didn't make the US Olympic team despite being the highest scoring American at the time he's not necessarily regarded as a two way player but he is a picture of consistency and health 82 games 82 games 82 games 74 51 in the lockout shortened season you can't ask for much more than that 64 games this season and leading the way for a team that has been decimated by injuries that matters the best ability of course being for sure availability western conference playoff picture a little bit of a dicey one for both the stars and Edmonton if you're trying to figure out maybe how you would prefer things to roll out here Dallas probably wants to chase down Colorado at the top and get a easier first round matchup than the Minnesota wild the oilers I think they're best suited to finish second inside the Pacific
rather than win it and likely face the little bit of underrated Utah mammoth as a first round matchup at the wild card one spot just before should mention the orders are just getting on the ice for the morning skate in Dallas it looks like as far as the roster changes Henry's going to be going in for dock and then Stasney's going to go in for Emerson and Jerry to start and doesn't look like they're calling up anybody it has Ingraham as the backup that's from Big Bobby in Dallas the Bob father so back to the question Duke the Bob father um yeah how do you we were talking about this in the break yeah I let's be honest like if you want to win it you got to be whoever is in your way but preferably I yeah like I I you said it underrated Utah like Utah is like I not that they would make me nervous but if if I'm looking at Vegas how like in past we have been
able to play against them Anaheim young team I think we could do some damage to them Utah hi this is Pablo Tore from Pablo Tore finds out and today I want to talk to you about boost mobile because we spent a lot of time analyzing inefficiencies in sports over value contracts money tied up in the wrong places and so on but those inefficiencies aren't just on a roster sometimes they're in your own monthly expenses boost mobile says switching to their $25 unlimited forever plan can unlock up to $600 in savings a year that's $25 a month for unlimited data talk and text when you bring your own phone if that money is trapped in a pricey phone bill it might be worth a second look visit boost mobile dot com to learn more after 30 gigabytes customers may experience lower speeds customers pay $25 per month as long as they remain active on the boost mobile unlimited plan savings claim based on a January 2026 boost mobile survey of a thousand Americans with single line unlimited plans comparing average annual payments of major carriers to 12 months on the boost mobile unlimited plan for full offer details visit boost

ending this year they have a really good defense and they have really some really really good offensive players like I I think out of three those three teams that I just mentioned I wouldn't want to you tie in the first round yeah well I got Jordan Schmaltz Duke yeah of course he just signed a big deal switch chase wish Keller Schmaltz like Dylan Gunter Gunter great coolie you know coolie yeah good back and sir good chef that they did just got weaker you know patyrka's having but kind of an offseason but you never know you can still produce I like their defense too yeah they got some guys I think their defense got to be one of the best in the NHL now one through six I think that's very fair yeah was it there's he there yeah there's he's he and Cole you know Stanley Cup experience there yeah and John marino is playing on your third pairing who kind of resurrected himself since the kind of got banished out of jersey in Pittsburgh essentially he's having himself a nice little you know the whole team is playing well like I yeah they're they're
interesting so like I I think I think Oilers still if they want to win they they need to be teams like this and nothing to take away from Utah but it would be a tough opponent yeah I'm probably going to win Duke I think the number two holds the best yeah like the pass it staying inside the Pacific division bracket seems to be the call it easiest route to to find your way back to a conference final night they they play the you got to play the games and you got a winim of course but we we talk about Vegas looking even as recently as Sunday kind of like a shell of this this powerhouse that we've seen in recent seasons the gold tending has been suspect for them all year long they did shore up them things of the deadline but I don't rasmus Anderson hasn't exactly jelled particularly well they're so far and then the docs are a team we talk about quite a bit because of their upstart nature I'm not sure they're necessarily cut out to win a ton of playoff rounds just yet so it makes a interesting match up to say the least against the others yeah you talk kind of of all these options here seems like the the biggest test and circuit has got to get back he's been
hurt here so what's that a chance that Duke if the Anaheim makes it to the playoffs is Duke go into Anaheim to haunt the center to watch it live you sponsoring me I'm not wow but come on line let me look my dream too in one you can go through the game and then you can go hang out with a dog you poor beef farming for love farming for love in so Cal have you been a truckies I've never been to California I've been to LF is a club bar yeah I know but I I assume it's I assume it's in so Cal yeah it's easy pickups yeah oh good valve I'll put that on my bucket I don't know how easy for you but let's be honest right now when you have saying whatever like things could flip flop all the way around here for sure orders could still finish first yeah and I could finish through this how many games 16 yeah 17 yes yeah easily oh east last night's game proven a little pivotal is the senators lose to Montreal it was a Jacob Fowler rookie goalie with the an outstanding
performance lifts the Habs to victory giving even more separation in the division centers still stiffen around the the final wildcard spot as of the Columbus Blue Jackets but I think the eight teams currently in a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference will be the eight in a few weeks time in the season wraps up I'm going to be out because I think I'm out okay good okay you go okay well I think somehow just with Rick bonus here in Columbus exactly something I don't know I just want them to be there yeah but everything does have Johnny hockey yes everything is right and so is it the struggling Detroit Redwings that fall out do you still not a believer in the penguins the islanders the broons all are within a point of each other could be anyone it's too hard to see oh for sure 16 games so like I I wouldn't totally count out about out either totally you never know you get hot you put together five six games boom you're back in the picture but for me the better story would be Columbus mm-hmm I think Columbus would be a team more people are rooting for yeah
from an outside perspective looking in it sends kind of burst that bubble in terms of playoff trail they got back last year gave the Leafs almost something they could handle in the first round and it's been a step back season the the goal tending the Omar's playing much better as of late but it has been another team that has faced that barricade a lot this year where it's let them down at times so it's a funny comment from Blake on our text line saying every cup that the Oilers of one the Oilers have gone through Winnipeg and Utah's technically old Winnipeg really you know well yes and no because in air when they were the keys is going to Arizona for sure when they when they were the coyotes that was still the original Winnipeg jets franchise but as we know connecting the the Utah thing that is not a relocation that is an technically an expansion team just inheriting a roster yeah they don't have any of the records or anything that that the jets franchises dormant slaughter record dukes above average the point is still well taken and in his relevant finally marches caffeine awareness month most people myself included like to start the day with
a coffee maybe if you're dawn of impulse and you prefer an energy drink after you've been working up stopper or stop stop don't just don't stop at once speaking of the Bob father three Bob father three and then two huge two huge coffees as well with baleys when when you're on the go as much as stuff you got to keep things turning so all the all the power to he's like Michael Pholps he didn't Michael Pholps said that he needs like 10,000 calories for breakfast as Bob's stopper but then with energy drinks and coffee was there and liquids however you hit your targets however you target so but I guess he doesn't spend nine hours in the pool hey well we don't know that sure but with you talk about coffee and energy drinks less than they're filled with sugar especially when unless you're drink a coffee black essentially the French vanilla one I have to the machine here I'm sure it's just as bad for me as anything but pop soda it's like totally taboo at least in my opinion to drink it before noon even though it is like it's caffeine
boost you can have it to start your day but it just feels like a cardinal sin no I drink it before noon do you because when I get home I'm so depleted I am low on sugar any little rush so what is that I change your all just just like few steps if I really feel low on sugar yeah I just I just grabbed that or whatever as home usually I change your all really but I I know you at first when I started doing that I fell off I was like I tell kids not a chance you haven't you haven't so I tried to sneak in whenever they are not looking and yeah but I I do it I'm ashamed now but I just do it because I I know it's a quick sugar I don't like energy drinks I don't know I've never done it so you've never in your life had a had a had a yes you did hungover come on I haven't like you go for that 11 o'clock okay seven seven a.m you just missed the breakfast and Mickey D's no you never party all night or what you had a ramen coke so there you go okay okay okay well that's not but I think
I was talking about see you get up at see your party all night you get up at 10 or 11 yeah like I would never have a pop I'd have I I I have because it in check again another remedy for like an upset stomach is is a Coca-Cola yeah or ginger ale or ginger ale yeah it cannot be like right like you have to like fit it out a little bit I would have a beer in Clamato or something but well that that would that would bring me back on the train and then three days later I am getting off the train but there are people and like that will have they rather than have a coffee on their way to work in the morning will drink a diet coke that's insane to me so you know somebody yeah name them uh throw them on their bus I don't drink coffee guys that's the thing yes I don't drink coffee so you need something else to yeah and and you don't like energy drinks I'm not sure you don't energy drinks either I don't I love pop like growing up at the farm I would take what is your favorite pop a case of Pepsi with me in the tractor cab and I'd crush the thing
I do it better than Coca-Cola for you yeah I prefer Pepsi I like Coca-Cola too and nothing against it but if I had a juice I'd take it because it doesn't matter to me if you if you just cut up Bob which one would you pick neither because I well whatever the whatever were wherever the closest bottle of whiskey was like as Duke just said okay and here's the thing with liquor I actually prefer ginger ale with my whiskey or water I just like ginger I never had whiskey in ginger all I think I had whiskey I have whiskey and apple juice or is it whiskey at apple juice is Jameson yeah so Jameson and apple juice really there was a guy from the UK I went to university with he was doing like whatever a broad semester here at the U of A he at the bar would order a rye and cranberry juice it had to be one of the most psychotic things I'd ever seen it's alright like I tried it it's fine I'd have I wouldn't ever order it myself I'd never seen somebody drink
that combination before oh man like I have a sick video of me during a COVID I think my wife sent it to me I cannot probably find it I need to show it to you guys though we had a challenge we had a I cannot find it we had a challenge during the COVID you know how the challenge was like do 50 push ups and so the coach the head coach that I'm gonna be coaching with yeah sends us this challenge like do 50 push ups do 50 squats blah blah blah I'm like I'm so I I do this video it's a huge shot of Slivo Vitsa yeah okay I know Shugging the pint of beer and another huge shot of Slivo Vitsa I was like this is this is laddie's me challenge and I send it back to it it's like challenge me with something like it's more serious than 50 push ups with this squats oh my god yeah my wife just sent it to me I think I don't know when that pop with her and we were just laughing I was like thank God I'm out of this degenerate stage we're having the ultimate in next Tuesday for St. Paddy's day to talk a
little whiskey I told Connor Halley and I told Connor I was like yeah when you coming for your 10-20 hit we'll have some leftover Irish whiskey here for you to take a couple shots of he did not look too excited about it really Connor doesn't like doing that he had a great party phase he doesn't drink very much anymore and but just to sit here and drink straight whiskey he he'll he'll we'll get some good faces out of him I'm sure it was a party face I had party face since 15 to 37 that's pretty good run that's what he said right that's a farming for lovely yeah yeah I um are you gonna get after it St. Paddy's that's another opportunity for you Duke yes there's gonna be some desperate ladies down oh burns I all me and hammer when they're several times I remember burns one time hammer left his check stub in there did you remember that no yeah he left his check stub in and it was for well I think it was $40,000 or something
doesn't surprise me I was I went to I put his kids through school tennis will burn Dennis burn not old burn okay on one one one St. Paddy's day in there laddie we went in about 10 o'clock 10 o'clock yeah those are the best days and they drink in honestly if I yeah we were there till two in the morning I've done it to you yeah Julio Barrios I done that at yeah well they're barrios with bulldogs that's uh in a rote brought to you by pro solutions good job Duke we'll wrap the show up I want to talk to you laddie about this checkbook that thanks for talking alcohol with recovery alcohol holy guys by the way I sorry buddy I just joking I'm testing your metal laddie testing your metal uh we're back to wrap up the show Kevin curious lattice lavish meat duke dubber and Josh Fenwick on sports 1440 presented by sports select uh we're streaming on youtube x facebook instagram and twitch 10 51 in Edmonton the home stretch just a quick little uh segment here laddie before we let you get going man I mean and now you're gone till
May the fifth so you leave next Tuesday yes I am and you're gone till May the fifth what are we gonna do Duke we got to figure this out we're gonna figure out some some hits uh from check like I said first couple weeks I I have a little little more time before it gets serious but even throughout our camp like we we can figure out I'm gonna bring both for my computers so what's this camp okay so the camp is it starts oh man don't get me started yeah so so the so the the players who are already out of the playoffs they need somewhere to skate right so we're gonna be bringing them in for like these four day camps and then you train for four or five days maybe at times and then you go home for a weekend and then again and then more guys gonna get kicked out and you know is this because you can only have certain times of the year to bring everyone together pretty much and they need they need somewhere to skate right otherwise they would be without ice for a week to three weeks all of them so so but it it's gonna be long man like if you it's gonna be like five
weeks altogether with the with the tournament for some guys I don't know how many guys are gonna make the final cut from the first camp gonna tell you that right now but uh for some guys it's gonna be long so you leave next Tuesday yeah man you're you're gone almost like two months yeah I know yeah I'm gonna see my kids for a while you won't recognize him wouldn't think hopefully I will hopefully I will but yeah it's uh not ideal but it's part of the part of my job and like I'm I'm excited like again it's not an opportunity to to learn new stuff to get better right we you learn all the time um I have to ask you about Andre Satoria the Czech picture I don't know he's a Czech picture from the world baseball class he's an electrician he pitched four and two thirds inning the other day against Japan this is in Japan it was his last game he's an electrician by trade pitched four and two thirds of no like he shut him out and this is Otani and all these guys I don't know if Otani was playing I don't know but anyway they gave him a standing ovation
that's crazy Tokyo electrician yeah like most of these guys on the team they they have the regular jobs right like we don't have a professional baseball league I don't think that you could actually like just play yeah so like good for me when you go back I want you to ask around and say like you know how big of a news was it like what did people in Czech think of this guy I well I well because like I'm I didn't watch any of the games but uh that's pretty cool like he's gonna be talking about it for us of his life and he's played internationally before yeah he is but like I don't know if Otani is on the team but like if you pitch against Otani and he didn't allow him to score that's he's the best he's the best well arguably well one of the best ever they ended up losing like eight or nine nothing but all the runs were after he left the game so and I I think I didn't like leave them in well I well for there's two reasons you have a pitch count so he can't pitch more than 65 pitches to starting game okay but the other thing too is I don't and he could probably pitch way longer because I think he throws her own 80s some miles
an hour like he doesn't like he's not a hundred miles that's why he's just throwing it in there he's probably got so much junk on the ball that who knows well laddie we're gonna miss you hey we got a text actually Ashley Myers is good morning Kevin and laddie just wanted to say congrats to laddie on the move in July love listening to you guys ever said actually oh my god my heart stuff is my ex's name is like what did I do this time she probably she's like now she now she's gonna haunt me and uh through the social media or through you guys oh my god well have a safe travels and we'll uh I'm sure we'll line something up here in the next little I'm gonna miss you guys are so like this is one of my favorite times of the week seriously like you make it you you make it very enjoyable being here guys well thanks a lot and we'll we'll get you I will like it said the first couple weeks here we'll figure this out and I'll be watching the NHL too so we can probably talk to our oilers hopefully they're on the right path jack me right um thank you see what happens tonight should be a good one thanks like it should be a really good one yeah I'm I'm looking forward to a six o'clock six bell air yeah not like
