2:17No, no, no, it was this morning. They played Japan. This guy's name is Andre Satoria. Now, this was his last game as a pitcher for the checks. He threw four and two-thirds innings of shut-out ball. Now, the thing is, the dude is an electrician. So he's going back to check and he'll be, you know, split wires and let's see what's he playing in the sunburst league back there. And then to be honest with you, is next year going to be any better? Listen, no one, I've always said that the easy part of a rebuild is getting rid of everybody. Like that's anyone can get rid of a bunch of players and try to bring in the draft picks. And hopefully you identify the right prospects if you're trading for live bodies. But first of all, it does take a little while. Like I read some stuff in Calgary that, okay,

5:27the rebuild's done. Let's start building up. And I'm thinking, well, you know, hang on here. Like they did. They did a nice job. Conroy did it at the deadline. I thought. But they still have Coleman. You know, he's going to be a guy they trade out next year. They still probably, I mean, I don't know. Maybe backlands like Newton Hopkins and just spends the rest of his career there. But at some point, some backland might say, hey, man, I'd like to be a third-line center on a team that can win here because he's going to be around with Calgary's good. You know, they got Huberdoh who they'd trade in the heartbeat if someone would take him. So I'm not sure the tear down happens as quickly as Vancouver and Calgary might like it to happen. I think it has to last a while. Don't you? Yeah. And I mean, I'm with you on back, when he's got two more years because he signed an extension that kicks in next year that's for less AAV. So I think the plan and then you got to you got to have someone that's there that can, you know, be that bridge for some of these younger guys that are coming in. But they still got tons and tons of work to do. Tons of it. I think that it has to go probably

6:33south before it goes north. I mean, it's the hardest part of the rebuild is surviving like when you make flip the switch and you go, okay, we're doing it. And you have trade the best things you got and you get all these draft picks, which is how it works, right? Okay, great. So now we've got a million picks in the next three years and you look at your draft board and you go, boy, we got all these picks. But then there's the time between now making the picks and the picks actually, however many of them actually show up on an NHL roster. And that's like at least five years. Exactly. That's a five-year window. The Calgary's got a ton of picks. So they're doing it right. Like this isn't me. I'm not criticizing them. But there's a five-year window by that pick in 27 and 28. That kid's 16 and 17 right now. When's he going to be a 22-year-old NHLer that helps you? Well, in six or seven years, that's what he's any good because we haven't picked him yet.

7:34Right. And they got two first runners in this year, next year and the year after, four second runners this year and then two more in 27 and 28. Okay, that's how you do it. And those are that. And he can also use those for currency too. You know, you can, you can, but generally when you're trading draft picks for live bodies, you're not doing it until like you're getting guys that are playing right now that are already good players. That's why you're doing it. You're picking some capital team who needs to move a contract and they want to take a draft pick back. That's great. That's awesome. But you can't make that trade, Kev, for like four or five years from now because what are you going to bring in a viable 28-year-old right now? What's the point? You're losing for two years. You have to find that player spec that is bridgeable for another team that that team goes, we can't really afford to go long-term on this guy

8:34and we can't afford a higher AAV and maybe we might have to make something happen and acquire some picks. So you got to hunt those guys out, you know. Yeah. And what if you did with Armstrong did and you found a couple young players here, young group players as group two's like that never happens, but that's on the table. You could try that, find that. So listen, like there's lots going on in rebuilds, but the one thing that isn't going on is expediency, right? It's a six, seven. If you're good at it, like Anaheim's been, you missed the playoffs for seven years. That's a good scenario. You know, look at Washington. Everyone said, oh my god, they rebuilt one here and they're great again. Yeah, they were good for one year. This year, they're pretty average and they're probably going to miss the playoffs. Colorado is at 15 eight. It's hard to believe that they never had much power play success this year with the talent they have. How can they have a 16% power play with that for top unit? Yeah. Right? I'm not this isn't me picking on Bouchard, but that that split second in time, that power play made a big mistake. Bouchard made a big mistake and all of a sudden the games, you know, Vegas is in it with four minutes to go. That wasn't great. So I think we, you know, it's funny in the course of the yesterday morning and then today, and even yesterday in the afternoon, a lot of people were talking about Conor McDavid and not taking any draws. 15:01absolutely. Let's figure that out. You know, I didn't realize before the game started. I think nobody did that he had whether he had an injury or something. I don't know. Yeah, you know, listen, McDavid's got the puck all night. Guys are slashing them, hacking them, you know, all the time. And apparently I'm going to guess here and I'm only guessing that one of those slashes left a mark because he played the whole game, handled the puck well, played lots of minutes. I didn't see any, you know, he just didn't work in the circle. Didn't take a face off. And then, but by both a halfway point, we're like, okay, we had to say, why is Newt's taking all these draws? And you look at the sheet and you realize he's not taking any. So do I know why? I don't know why. Are they going to tell me exactly what Conor McDavid's injury is today down at the ball arena? I would bet you a cold beer Kevin that they will not bet you more than a cold beer. Hey, Trent Frederick's going to play his 400th career game that he's playing. He's playing his best hockey since the break as an oiler. Yeah, yeah, it's, you know what,

16:07it's a nice story. Like let's, you know, I'm not a there now. I don't have to tell everybody out there. I'm no cheerleader. But I always feel for God, I'm Trent Frederick comes to a new team, struggles, can't make it work, not playing well, can't find a role, live in that life of, you know, I've been here six months and I'm still trying to find a place on this team and fit in. It's not easy, man. He's had a rough year. I'm not saying it's anyone else's fault. It's his fault. He's the player. But I'm happy for him because he's a really good guy. I like him a lot as a guy that I interview and chat with here and there. It's nice to see him have a little success. That's all he's found. He's found something here with his fourth line. We can mown and complain that oh, he should be a third or second line. He's on the four. Who cares? He's found a way to contribute. He's got some traction. Let's see where it goes, man. Maybe he crawls up the line up a little bit, but that line with him and Doc and I don't know if it'll be Henrikin in between tonight or Somersky, but yeah, I like them. I like the way they work there the other night.

17:10Well, just keep punishing guys down low. Like again, anytime the puck gets dumped in, you know, the first guy in spec, I've always said this with your fourth line. The puck is non negotiable. The puck is non-negotiable. Don't even worry about it. And the second guy can figure it out from there because if the first guy does something with it, there's a pretty damn good chance that he's not going to be able to make a play anyway. Run that D-man, run him through the boards, and then your F2 and F3 can figure it out from there. And that's how I've always looked at a fourth line. So I totally agree. And you always haven't had enough of that other fourth line. Yeah, exactly. They've had older guys on their fourth line and older guys aren't bangers. If you tell me that I'm a hockey coach and I'm looking for bangers, I'm looking for young guys. Yeah. And a guy like Doc is a perfect example. He's here's a guy looking for a foothold and a good team, you know, trying to establish himself and have a career in the NHL. He's got one

18:11season under his belt here. And I would say to you that his spot on this team isn't totally guaranteed. He's got to go out and earn it. And how's he going to earn it? He's going to earn it by banging guys. He, with they said about him in Chicago, it looks like it's true. When he gets the puck in a corner along the wall, it's hard to get it back from him. Yeah. You know, he can maintain it for a while and start a cycle. So I like that. And I suppose he's probably a scrapper too once in a while. I've never seen him fighting. But yeah, he's got a few pins along the way. So that's my fourth line with two big guys that beat it up in the responsible sentiment like Henry Somersky. I'll take that every day. For sure.
