Because the abs are obviously the best team in the league at 4310 and nine. And they are smoking hot on home ice as well. The orders come in with a record of 31 25 and eight on home ice. The Colorado avalanche are 23, 4 and 4. They've got a gold differential of plus 83. I was going through their whole roster yesterday. I think there's only one guy that's minus on the team. And it's a guy that was called up. You don't play in maybe a couple games or something like that. Everyone else is obviously high, high in the pluses. And if the orders need any more motivation,

5:23they can just go back to November the eighth where Colorado came in here. And absolutely Molly walked obliterated the orders to the tune of 911. Nathan McKinnon had two goals to assist the local product from cameras. Parker Kelly had a whale of a game had two goals and one assists. If I'm not mistaken, the orders penalty kill unit that night was a perfect seven for seven. Imagine just imagine if Colorado had any any inkling of a power play where this team could be. I mean, their power play operates at less than half of what the oilers power play is. Colorado comes into this one at 15.8% on the power play with all of that talent. And all of, you know, with McKinnon and natious and Makar, how can it be at 15 eight?

6:25Unbelievable. And oilers come in at 32 point eight percent. The good thing with the orders going into this game tonight, that they had decent success at ball arena in Colorado 3 1 and 1 in their last five. But they have not beaten one of the big three in the central division this year. They got pounded by really all three teams, Colorado, Dallas and Minnesota. So if you are scoring at home and setting the bar and seeing what kind of a litmus test this is, you will not find more of a gauge of where this oilers team is. And again, I was over at K 97 dude in my morning, had every day that we do with Pedro Panotsky. And he asked me, what do you think? Like, what do you think the score is going to be tonight? And I was like, I don't know what kind of feeling I have on this game. Could it be a six four game, six three game? Could it be where the oilers again try to limit some defensive or some offense from Colorado

7:31and play a little harder defensively? I mean, Colorado and Vegas are two teams that aren't even close here. So I think a guy would have to lean. Everyone would be going what taken the over in this one, you would think. But we'll see how things progress as the game starts tonight at 807. Puck drop at 807 should mention Conor McDavid. He's on such a heater when it comes to his play on the road. He's got an 18 game road point streak going 11 goals, 22 assists. Wayne Gretzky I think has the record way back. I got to just make sure on that it is 29 games in 86, 87 that Wayne Gretzky had road point scoring streak. More recently Patrick Kane had 19 and 2018, 2019. Team of Salani had an 18 gamer in 95, 96. But for the most part, it's Gretzky, Lemieux, Pat Lafontaine had a decent one in the late 80s as well.

10:41But earlier this morning when it started, it's kind of a neat story because the the chucker that started the game for the checks, his name's Andre Satoria Duke. And he shut out Japan for four and two thirds. And this guy is an electrician by trade technically. So apparently this was his last game for the national team for the checks. But I think Ladi will get a good kick out of that on Thursday here. Andre Satoria, an electrician by trade and was nine, nothing. The finally came roaring back. Japan did here, Duke. I didn't see the final score, but you said nine rip. So and then you know, last night at the at the world baseball classic, you know, the United States, they hung on Mexico was coming hard. The US one five three, a lot of talk about a man, the guy, you know, Cal Raleigh didn't want to shake around. He arose in rain his hand when they started the game.

11:42And imagine if that happened in hockey, two guys at Santa Rice that, you know, say at the Olympics or something like that, take their gloves off and want to shake hands and things like that. Anyway, Canada will take on Puerto Rico today. And they got to win this game because of what happened against Panama on Sunday. So they got they need this game today. So and that'll start. I believe it five bells are time. The big game in the NBA last night was just insane in the sense of O.K.C. in Denver. I wonder if Speck got to go to the game because he's in Denver, but it was 129-126. SGA had another game for the ages, had 35 points. So he his streak of 126 consecutive games of 20 points or more is tied now with Wilt Chamberlain or Wilt Distilt. I wonder if I wonder if SGA could even get close to some of the other numbers that Wilt put up both on and off the court, Duke.

12:45We won't go there on a family program though. And also got to mention too at the Paralympics in Milano Cortina. And great so far. I mean Natalie Wilkes just having a games. She won her third Paralympic medal. Now she's got Canada has eight medals, but she's got 10 Paralympic medals in her career. And so she wins it in skiing, cross-country skiing, and so that's eight medals in total. And Canada's wheelchair team defeated China today. Nine to five, I believe the final was. Sorry, nine four, so Canada now five and all. At the Olympics Paralympics pardon me in Italy. Well, Duke, I kind of said I bought the score tonight. I mean, you're going to be taking the over. I would imagine in this game. I would expect a return to form to that one game deviation just six goals

13:47in the others victory in Las Vegas. You know, real low scoring affair by their own standards. So I mean, I mean, we know what kind of firepower the abs have at five on five. So I'm just wondering if the orders can somehow shore things up. And you know, we never talked about the goal-tending and who's going to play tonight. I mean, they got to get Tristan Jari back in. And he's, I mean, yesterday, Ali had freed him and was talking about some stuff. And it's been kind of rumbling out there. And it's maybe more of a bigger deal that's being made out of it. I think you could easily say that. And that stems from Jari's comments when they lost seven, three to Minnesota, basically said our, you know, defensively wasn't great. And then he retracted. The next time he was interviewed after a game, he put more of the onus on himself. And then I think, you know, he's having a bad day at practice. And some people, you know, they said, you know, stop the puck. And but I think like that happens all the time, Duke.

14:48You know, you're always at practice as you're always, you know, if you go back to the Gretzky days in a hall of hard, those guys practiced because they always said, well, when we're going up against each other, it's going to be just as tough as when we're playing some of the best teams. And that's how they, that's how they practice back in the day. And the difference now is you don't get that practice time. So sometimes I think, I think players zone out at practice. Duke, because it's just they don't have the frequency of it. And they don't have the amount of time that they spend. And they're tired. And I think honestly, on a day to day basis, when you, I don't remember like when you can string two, three days of practice together this year, it just doesn't happen anymore. So I don't know what did you make of that all, all of that stuff. Well, yeah, I don't only caught wind of it via obviously Friedman and his 32th thoughts thing is the afternoon progress. And then I caught Gregor chatting about it on his show, saying that it was a pretty big nothing burger in reality, that there was never any physical

And it was just essentially, as you said, some of the guys were looking, came out to Jerry and said, come on, man, like, I know it's practice, but like make it a challenge for us here to kind of just stand in there like a fence post or something, you know, to paraphrase what was their private conversation or as private as it can be at a practice ring. But the point being, yeah, it's getting it's getting sketching some tread around the rest of the world. And rightfully so because Elliott holds such a steam in the hockey circles. But for those that were actually at the ring, yeah, Gregor's back and others kind of seeming like it's really not a big deal at all. So well, and then it's funny because I immediately thought of you and I, we were thinking the exact same thing when we watched the replay. Oh, the Vegas hold the night's game with Conor Ingram and net and they showed Conor Ingram and warm up. And both you and I are looking at this and we're going, like, just put it at his chest here, man, because everything's going right by him. Everything's going in and I understand it's warm up and you just want to

16:52get a feel for it. Yeah. But that's happened many times. A lot of the time in warm-ups you are hoping that they just shoot it right at you. Yeah. Just say you don't have to move. Just let the puck kitchen. Like he said, get a feel. But I mean, hey, the NHL's a little bit different than my Tuesday night skates at Nate Arena. You know, and I'm just seeking that we looked at each other because I never noticed that in the game. No, me neither. No. And that when they, how they put together a highlight package, they wouldn't have even showed that before. They would have had that what they call on a, on a, on a, not a wheel. But when you are recording stuff in the truck, basically you have things to pick from and then you would put that out and then the, the editor back at the station. In this case, we will believe we were watching TSN. They end up putting it together because they have that video that people wouldn't have seen over the course of the first few minutes of the show. These, let's be honest, I mean, it's just like the CFL. You have these contracts worked out well in advance, and then they just get, you know, announced. But I mean, the Carolina Panthers, when you think about what they're building there, and they got some pieces on offense that are young at quarterback, receiver, to be honest, even at running back with guys like, you know, like Truba Hubbard and guys like that. But, you know, they went to show up their defense yesterday. They got Jalen Phillips paid a lot of cash for 120 million at four years, and then they also grabbed Devon Lloyd. Three years at 45. So they're really trying to get things going on their defense straight ahead of

23:15what they think their offense can start to turn the corner and be a little more aggressive and things like that. So how are we making out with Connor McGahey Duke? Just waiting still. Okay. Just waiting. He's probably still in bed. Who knows? I will bring in Josh Fenwick after yesterday's debacle of monumental proportions. Did you at least watch the O.K.C. Denver game last night? Yeah. 24:21because personally I thought the Pacers were going to win. But yeah, last night, what a it was it's it's all time. Yeah, all time. Clippers beat the next last night too. I was seeing that surprised at that. People keep calling them the no name Clippers and like they still have Kauai. They have Darius Garland. Like they have good players on their roster. I don't know why you be calling them the no name Clippers at any point on any night. I think they could be the best. Did you get some sleep last night? I did. Yeah. After Sunday nights, the Sunday night special or whatever you want to call it. Yeah, I did. Did you? You feel refreshed? Not at all. I still look up at what my body thinks is 430. 26:32were set up the other day, I think Nazim Codry played a little more wing than center because they're so deep at center as it is with McKinnon and Brock Nelson's having a great year. They traded for Nicholas Waw as well and that allowed them to push Jack Dury down to foresee. So there's still opportunities here for Codry to, you know, Aves these can take face-offs and things like that. But maybe they'll be running Nazim Codry with natious and McKinnon to start things out of the hop here on a line because that gives them the opportunity to throw Nachooskin and Nelson together. They got depth. I mean Parker Kelly's having a wonderful year down on the third line and we'll see exactly where he ends up with Nicholas Waw. Hey, let's welcome in our old pal Conor McGay. 27:33You guys call I come on. It's the law of nature. You have to do it. Man, you just kill me every time. So, uh, hey, what do you make of how the Aves have come out after the trade deadline here? I think everyone, every hockey expert had the Aves at number one, especially when the deal for Nazim Codry came down the pipe about an hour later. But how are things kind of fitting in here since the trade deadline? You know, I think the trade deadline was an A. I love the Nicholas Waw addition. Blankenberg is Sam Gerard, but four and a half million dollars less. Nicholas Waw is size and skill, which doesn't exactly grow on trees. But then the icing on the cake was Nazim Codry after everybody had given up and moved on from the trade deadline. As far as as after the bell goes, that's probably as big as it gets. So it was an A before, but I don't know how many pluses you can put after an A. I won't put that many for for

28:36Christmas, Farland, who I mean, he hasn't gotten enough credit the last two years, really, completely transforming the goalie room like we've talked about before. Brock Nelson last year, a couple other pieces, but he's he's built this into a headline I saw yesterday called the Avalanche a super team. And that's what it feels like right now on paper. And so now it's up to them to finish it out here in the next couple of months. Is there a team that's deeper at center than the Aves right now, Connor? And does that mean even like I'm seeing like Codry's playing a little more wing to start things off? How's that going to shake out? Well, we don't have reckoning and landest god in the moment. And so we need wingers. And as you know, it's easier to go from the middle outside than from the outside to the middle. I don't think we've I don't think any team in the history of hockey has been deeper at center than than the Colorado Avalanche right now because you have McKinnon Nelson, Codry, Drury, Nicholas, Walker, Kelly, who you were

29:41just talking about has played center at some points this year. So I just listed off six centers for the Colorado Avalanche, but now you really have five guys who who are that's through best, you know, their natural position. But I kind of jokingly, but not jokingly said, is there been a deeper team ever at the at the center position than the Colorado Avalanche? And I don't I don't really think so. Yeah, unreal. Connor McGahey with us on the Kevin Kirish on sports 1440. We're very familiar with Brett Kulak. And when that trade was made, we're going home boy. Here's another possibility for Cooley to go to three consecutive Stanley Cup finals. Who knows what's going to happen here, but what's he meant to his addition to the back end here? It's exactly what the Avalanche needed because I mentioned Blankenberg and Sam Gerard earlier that mold of defenseman is something the Avalanche have had plenty of over the years. If you go all the way back to John Michael Lyles and then Tyson Berry, so on and so forth, that model of defenseman has been no problem for the Avalanche. What they needed is a little more versatility and somebody who

30:46can block shots. I think in the first four games, Kulak had 10 blocks, which, which is necessary for Colorado. We mentioned size with Nick Waw on the front end. You needed a little bit of that on the back end. You have Manson and Brett Burns as a second D pair, but it doesn't hurt to have the player who's played in the most playoff games in the last two years on your back end, Versadil, a guy who played with Bouchard. They're an Edmonton, a guy who can play with Latane, Carl Sinden, Pittsburgh, and he's even gotten some shifts with with Kale McCar here and he doesn't seem out of place whatsoever. It was a need for Colorado, both financially, Sam Gerard cost $5 million and then on the ice. Kulak getting his second point. I thought he got his first goal on that game tire versus Minnesota on Sunday, but it ended up being an assist in Nick Waw. But he had tennisists in the entire season. He's already got two helpers with Colorado here. So it's filled the need on the XL spreadsheet and it also did on the ice too for the ass.

31:51So has he, you just mentioned he took a couple spins with Kale McCar, but has he been with Melinsky more? Has he moved around? What's it been like here? Yeah, it's been a third D pairing for him mostly. It's been Kulak and Melinsky, but he's out there on the penalty kill. They put him and Manson together a couple of times, him and Burns together a couple of times. So he's played with everybody. And again, as felt incredibly comfortable with everybody too. So I've been more than impressed with Brett Kulak here in Colorado. Yeah. You mentioned a couple guys in Landis Cog and Lekkin and what's the status for them moving forward here, Connor? There's still listed as week to week. Jared Bednar described Landis Cog as lower body and uncomfortable one. You can go back and look. And then Arturi Lekkin and a little bit more of a mystery. Monday in Los Angeles, there was a play in front of the net that involved the puck, I think. And he left the game, didn't return after about six minutes. So still week to week for both of them.

32:53I think they're expecting them and Logan O'Connor, by the way, who hasn't played a game all season. He had some complications with an off season surgery and a couple of follow-up instances or situations after that initial surgery. But he could be back and should be back too. So that makes a decision you have to make on your fourth line with you. Well, give you a round time. Your fourth line is likely going to be Parker, Kelly, Jack, Brewery and Logan O'Connor, which for me is one of the toughest fourth lines to play against in the National Hockey League. So O'Connor could be back very soon and they're expecting Lekkin and Landis God back before the regular season is. Yeah, well, every time you come on, Connor, we talk about Parker, Kelly, because he's a local guy out of cameras here and I've been following him a long, long time. The Avalanche have never, so he's the oldest player in franchise history, but 682 straight, excuse me, 982 straight games now, longest Iron Man streak in the National Hockey League, 15th most played all time and has no signs of slowing down whatsoever. He's 41 on the outside, he's 14 on the inside and that's exactly how he acts, how he plays. And you talk about the characters in this line of like Parker, Kelly, Brent Burns is another one of those. That has, that has again, fit in perfectly. And I'm not saying it's equivalent to what happened in 2001, but you had a long time defenseman in Ray Bork, who was never able to win a cup where he was, came to Colorado to win a cup, and it has that sort of feel to it. I think that the guys who have won here want to win another one

36:04for one of the top defenseman and then you could say players all time when it comes to the longevity and games played in the National Hockey League. Yeah, you know, I saw a picture, and I guess maybe I didn't put two and two together. Maybe I missed the fact that it was his birthday, but I saw it when his draft picture out of Minnesota. Did you see that? Yeah, the bleach hair. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just bleach hair. Not a single facial hair. He's got peach fuzz going on, and then somebody actually Photoshopped a jubaka in for his, his team picture this year. Who knows what happens in the playoffs here, Connor, but do you think he would want to come back and even play another year yet? I mean, watching him play, he could. And if they don't win this year, I would think that he would want to do that. Just a one year deal for him to come to Colorado. A bonus heavy contract here with the ads, just a million dollar base salary for him. So it's quite possible if he wanted to come back. It's not like, okay, well, it takes about empty,

37:07and this is all we got. He could easily, for my point of view, come back and play another year. You were mentioned sort of glue guys and how Chris McFarlane changed the, you know, the inside of the locker room. And you also mentioned Brock Nelson's name there. And man, what a season he's having. I mean, just incredible in the sense that he could be breaking his single season total for goals here. I mean, that's just the type of guy that we see from the outside. What do you see from him on a daily, daily basis there? He had a lot of criticism last year when he came over from the New York, New York Islanders, and was okay when he came here. But I don't, the change from being from one team for your entire career to coming to a whole new place with four kids and the whole thing. I mean, there's a lot going on there. So for him to come back this year and sign an extension and choose to stay with the Colorado avalanche and then putting the effort onto the ice and the goals have just been

38:07going in. I mean, before, before the Olympic break and then into the Olympics, he was just, he was just unstoppable. And the avalanche had been looking for a replacement for Nazum Cadrie ever since Cadrie left, ironic that he's back now. But that replacement, it wasn't Casey Middlestad, it wasn't Ryan Johansson, and then there'd be in Brock Nelson, where they finally landed on. And that was to be one of the more underrated splashes for trade deadline last season. That not a ton of people talked about, but he's come in. And again, fit in perfectly. Powerplay time. Even strength, we know that the avalanche are the best team in the national hockey league. He's a he's a big reason for that. You talk about older guys who don't look like they're slowing down Brock Nelson is in the in the exact same boat for me is is Brent Burns in that regard. Connor McGay here with us in sports 1440. So how can a team that's plus 83 in gold differential Connor be operating at a 15.8 percentage on the power play?

39:13Some things don't make sense to me. And that's one of them. Yeah, although since the Olympic break before that game versus Minnesota, and they had so many good chances, yes, for Wallstead, singlehandedly can three power play goals out on his own. So it should have been probably three for five the other day, but it wasn't. But going into that game, it's operating in about 30% since they came back from the Olympics. So they've changed some things out. Things are better. And but the season average before that, whether it was overhandling overpassing you name it, you know, Kale couldn't hit the net from distance. And a lot of those things have changed after they it was it was funny because locally we were talking about the Olympics being the great power play summit in Milan in 2026 because Marty natious is going on the power play for the checks and the Canadians and and everyone's putting in power play goals. And they sort of brought that mojo back. And it's it has been better than it was before they left

40:14for the Olympics. How do you think the gold tending is going to play out here Connor between Scott Wedgewood and McKenzie Blackwood? Are they almost like playing equally as at a high level or is there do you give an edge to one of them moving down the stretcher? It kind of changes. Right now Scott Wedgewood is is is playing better. I mean, number one goal is against the national hockey league. Number two, say percentage of or Scott Wedgewood. McKenzie Blackwood is a top 10 in both categories. Blackwood started that game in Dallas on Friday ended up getting pulled after allowing four goals on 11 shots. And then it was Wedgewood who came in. Didn't allow any goals in the rest of regulation and over time got the shoot out win with two miraculous saves. The photos are works of art in that instance. He comes back and he gets the shoot out win versus Minnesota on Sunday too. The good news about the lumber yard is that they've played together before in Jersey. They are friends. They support each other. And they're kind of interchangeable.

41:17And if you think back to the 2022 team that won the cup, you had Darcy Kemper as your starter. We mentioned Ryan Johansson earlier. He took remember the stick through the golly mass from Ryan Johansson. And he was out. Incomes Pavell Francos to go six and no. I don't need to do that hands of the Edmonton Oilers, but it's it's what happened with with Pavell Francos. And the ambulance go on to win the Stanley Cup. Kemper and Francos had this excellent relationship where the goal tending position was interchangeable. And I feel like that's the case now with McKenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood. Don't know yet who will get the start tonight. We'll find out a morning escape, but the way that Wedgewood has been playing, it would be hard to not start him against against the Edmonton Oilers tonight. One last one for your corner. What kind of game do you think we'll see tonight? You remember when you were here last and it was 9-1 and it was a total blowout and the orders are trying to tighten things up defensively. We saw a little bit of that on Sunday in Vegas. But what do you think we'll see tonight? Every time I try to predict ads and oilers,

And we played Anaheim here a couple weeks ago where they were missing half of their team and it was just, you know, get the puck and dump it out. It wasn't very exciting. The one thing you can always count on with abs and oilers is that it's entertaining hockey. So I would think that coming off that win in Vegas the other night Edmonton knows their spot in the Pacific Division, home ice is critical. And this is not going to be easy for the avalanche.
