1:56:53Um This is a story that really began nine years ago in these halls when we announced wow classic to the world Then a couple years after that of course we welcomed you in To dive back into azaroth to experience it as it was in the beginning And millions came in and settled in and began tackling an xd and raggrove leveling up to 60 really re-experiencing that journey But the conversations naturally started to emerge around what would come next and those conversations grew louder Many people of course hoped to continue on into the burning crusade And a chance to go back through the dark portal and show illidan just how prepared we've all become after 20 years The min-maxing next level and of course that is what came to pass But there was another group even back then in 2020 or so a group of dreamers People for whom the vanilla game was just about the perfect MMO They've been taking about that all the way and already being in the world

1:57:56They didn't want to leave behind that world grounded in the immediate aftermath of warcraft Three and begin a journey forward through the timeline They didn't want to replace their hard-won raid epics with greens from zanger marsh They didn't want to go from the sprawling expanse of eastern kingdoms and calendor to an outland that you could fly across in just a few minutes on an epic mount What if we could stay at level 60 they asked and so did we What if we could build some new content and tell new stories in that immersive world And what if we could make memes backs even just a tiny bit liable I was talking to you here But this was 2020 and the reality is that the team that we had at the time the development pipelines we had at the time Were something that had been purpose built to restore and curate an old version of the game Not to add to it not to build new things And so for a time that dream stated dream But that ember of an idea Smolder over the months and years to follow and it took hold within the classic team as well

1:59:02People on the team would come forward left and right pitching versions of what it might look like to add content to change that vanilla game And that led us to 2023 when we decided to test the waters with a certain experiment Also announced right here Season of discovery was an experiment on many levels All right, so Sog was awesome But it was deliberately pushing boundaries and we pretty much set that out right at the time because it was a time limit Experience gave us a chance to find the limits of how much change was too much change How far could we go before things started to feel like they didn't belong in that world or alongside those philosophies But we did make a bunch of new quests new items new class abilities Even all new dungeons and raids like Harrison crypt and the scarlet enclave And we sure found those limits But along the way we learned a ton of valuable lessons to create what if you like how a modern class works

2:00:03But you don't want to go back and do that old one again looking at how it had gone You're in an audience that is not getting surfed And they had road tanks and season of discovery and we learned what worked Yeah, but it all felt like one off like what is you know if this is like a permanent world There was good stuff so You'd absorb years of experience Do it like rooms today They'll be constantly evolving which is different in many ways from how it was back in 2005 when the internet was a different Yeah, clearly there's a different thing There's an audience for this My question is how are they going to pay for another I think Like it's my Well hopefully the people come back is gonna Be enough to find all the online discourse about what classic plus

Gamewide, your character, the NPCs, other players, other players, characters, together. I want to be set together. I want to be set together. Unified in either HD or SD. I do not think overall, now, most of the players that means you know, I think they definitely have their spirit in their core. I think people who think that are psychotic and regional, aesthetical. For those of you who prefer more modern aesthetic, you can go with the modern HD design. Here's the thing though, and here's where I understand the criticism. Oh, and there I like the new models almost universally. But if I try to create one to one what my original undead would like, I hate how it looks on the new model.

I don't need to chase the nostalgia for it. This is different than that. This is like you get that plus it's new shit and it's things we never got to explore before. And it's giving me some options to make it not look like ass. Like I'm actually really excited. So I think it's like, are we starting like both ass and not. Are we starting our dungeon team right now? I'll be the paladin. Okay. I'll be the rogue. I'm going to go and I'm going to. Okay. But we'll be the I'll be warrior. Yeah. All right. That's good. Gives us. I mean, I also played like healer in classic like old slick. So I could play priest as well.

2:45:17I guess but well, I could heal. Oh, paladin. Oh, yeah. Okay. I don't know what's as swapping specs. I don't know. See, one of the things I don't know they're going to do in forever is like they discounted things heavily. Like swapping swaps back and in the riding. You know, it wasn't a thousand gold. It was like 20 or 30. Like so I don't know if they're going to preserve that part. That's true. How are they going to handle that? If I decide to go healing for a paladin, am I going to have to stay that way? Is there going to be a big commitment? You know, we're going to roll. When I play forever, when I see the discovery I was playing four characters. I'm never playing all in retail. I have one character like I barely touch all but in classic. Yeah. Because it's fun to do the journey. Like the whole the whole point of the peel of it is I don't get like yeah. The week the expansion comes out. You're like sweet. Let me do all the quests. And then it's over. Like it's just and it's just the requests. Like so what's fun about wow is like because there's so much terrain to cover. So much to do you can spend like months like working on quests and stuff.

2:46:19And that's like it's fun. So that's kind of why I'm stoked for classic because it sounds like you're not going to be flying around turbo finishing quests. Right. And you might actually have to call on a friend or two to be like, hey, I'm working on this quest. Does anyone else doing it come, come hang out with me and quest a bit? And it sounds like they want to make leveling up and all actually compelling. Because I always have plans to have ults and then like I want to and then I'm just like, I'm not doing this. Oh, I played ults like I because the way they did the graduated like the faces were really nice in season of discovery because you were capped at level 25. Once I hit 25 on a warrior is like, I'm going to do a druid. I'm going to do a row. I want to see all the change. It was like nothing. It was actually fun. I played a lot of hunter actually. And so I had a hunter priest in a warrior all going just the warrior was my main. But like I was playing all three of them. You know, so yeah, I'm just going to be great. You guys. Yeah. Super stoked. I'm just excited. I'm shocked how this ended up a little bit shocked how this ended up being kind of the biggest announcement.

2:47:23I sort of expected some progress on it. But I expected another season level of, you know, we're doing a weird thing and here you go. But there's like, it's a full product launch with a box price and everything. Very curious. Yep. Very curious. Ring it seven weeks and maybe some beta before that. We'll see.
