Ben My honest thoughts are I loved the first half of the episode I smiled through it I loved seeing so many familiar faces This is kind of what I've always wanted them to do Some sort of spin-off competition show So that we could see our favorites again in a more competitive environment Where love isn't necessarily involved I did think it was too long, two hours seems I thought it may have been even a half an hour just thinking HGTV show And I was like, oh no, you know a lot of HGTV shows maybe an hour When I thought was two hours That was too much and it I think turned out to be What were your takeaway thoughts? I want to start by saying if you have not watched this episode of The renovation show when they renovate the bachelor mansion I would stop this podcast right now Because there's going to be a ton of spoilers We're going to break down who went home, how things went, what we thought

If you have no interest in watching the episode but listening to our podcast And I would say keep this podcast going We will break down to everything we saw experienced and felt during the episode There will be spoilers during this podcast Okay, now, go for it My thoughts were this, I love the idea when it started When we were first told that the bachelor mansion was going to be renovated I was very excited to watch this happen I still am And as you said, some of bachelor nation favorites are showing up to help out at the mansion And I love I love that we get to see some of the individual skill sets of some of the people That we've watched only really communicate their romantic ideals previously Now we get to see more of who they are in real life, the Dean Unglerts The Dean Bells, I guess, his skill sets Noah, Jill, Jill, I mean, Jill is one of the craziest jobs in the United States

She said it's not high paying But Jill is helping preserve the mansions in Newport It's a spectacular job One that I've enjoyed every year for Christmas For the last four years, it's wonderful Yeah, we're Jared and I got married And I'm actually taking Dawson to one of the mansions today It's like a mom's son date I was like, what can I take him on that hill? He's like really cool but also a little bit adult And so that's what we're going to do I was like, we're going to a castle We're going to go to a castle A couple of questions I have before the show started that I still have Same, I have questions, what are yours? You know, I think in order to break this down can sysly and accurately We'll have the two sections We loved and the things we disliked And then some of the questions that are pending after the first episode Let's start with some of the pending questions My question is what are they doing this for?

Is it strictly for the bachelor because in years previous As we've talked about in the podcast There is a family that lives in that home The bachelor comes in for a few weeks Every year takes the mansion over Redecorates, repaints Puts up some new pillows and decorations And then the cast moves in Well, what they did after the first episode makes me feel like this mansion is only going to be used for the bachelor Because now there's permanent bunk beds And there's permanent fixtures Things have changed a lot And so what are we doing this for? Is it for the family or is it for the show? Okay, so that was my biggest question And I wasn't sure whether that was a question that I had lingering in the back of my mind more Because we lived in it, we have a personal tie to it, and we have known That Marshall has built the house, lived in the house for 20 plus years And the fact that it's always in turnover between family and the show I think a casual viewer probably wouldn't take that into consideration so much

They probably think that ABC owns the house But as far as we know, the beginning There's a little clip of Marshall saying That how he thought of designing the house after a favorite spot in Italy And it says underneath in his lower third that he is the original owner So I'm like, okay, so did you sell the house? Because now is it just a set house? Because if it is, that means like truly they can do whatever they want Or is he giving them the space to just totally renovate the place Because I think he got divorced from his wife and I just don't know if like the house is like As much of a center point to the family anymore It is a question I would have loved for that to be explained Because I do think it has a massive piece of the storyline Who are we doing this for? Is the question Are we doing this for the 20 people to move in every year or are we doing this for a family

And how they're going to function inside the home It came to my, I got emotional, I didn't like cry But I felt something when the girls were renovating their room And they talked about removing the access to the fireplace Those beautiful fireplace Oh, it's like, what are you guys thinking? That's when I was like, who's house is this? Somebody here has to step in because if you make that fireplace inaccessible Take away, yeah, maybe during the bachelor we didn't light it, that's a massive hazard But that family has to be lighting that fireplace often It is an amazing fireplace, it's gorgeous in so many ways I was very concerned for a second that they were going to replace something that is spectacular With what were they going to do, use it for storage? Yeah, they wanted to use it for storage

Okay, we actually just got a text from our producer Marshall is still the owner during the Renault show Anyway, Ben and I have had plenty of encounters with Marshall So we do feel attached to it to a certain different way But yeah, fireplace That would have been crazy to get rid of that gorgeous fireplace But I liked that Jill as the preservationist here And it is preserving history It's bachelor nation history, it's very important The fireplace needed to stay in her opinion And so did the tiles And I totally agreed And I'm glad the tiles stayed there And I'm glad that when these rooms were remodeled It still remained still in the theme with the Mediterranean vibes I mentioned My favorite thing that they added was the outdoor furniture Jazzing up those two balconies Because the balconies, well they weren't used very often It was used by the girls just for makeup reasons Because it's one of the only places that you can get good lighting In that mansion, it's very dim

I wish that the girls, honestly This would have been one of the things Where it would have been useful to know Is it only a set or is it just, or is it a house sometimes Because if it's always a set They should have put some vanities in the girls' room They should have put some bulbs Overall, the whole point of the show is to renovate a mansion that does need a renovation I'm all for it The home has not been touched for many years It's been beat up by casts and crew walking and trampling through it It has so many beautiful aspects of the mansion As Marshall said at the beginning He did this, built this house in his way Because of his inspiration from traveling abroad And I think that house feels that way Here in it, it very much feels like a Tuscan escape More than any other parts of Italy I think it feels like a Tuscan escape Because of the place that it sits, the hill that it sits on

The arches and the stucco and the tiles It has beautiful bones And it's a beautiful home It just needed some care So let me be clear I'm all for this show happening in the way it is I just want to understand who we're doing this for What we're doing this And who maybe is going to be the ultimate say And no, let's not get rid of a fireplace Let's maybe keep the fireplace Let's keep some of the things that are make this place iconic But just touch it up a bit Yeah, also, I'm sorry, our group message is blowing up I've actually heard from Amy Sugarman You know our executive producer She's thrown a lot of parties there So she's had to work with Marshall Apparently, he isn't really in the owner He's managed the property He used to own it But hasn't for a while Still doesn't give us any information though As to whether or not this is ever going to be a normal house Or whether it's going to be a set As we continue on in the show As Ashley mentioned in the beginning

There are some familiar faces that we know And love Ashley just for the sake of a reminder Let's go through very quickly The cast members that showed up to the mansion Okay, so Jill Chen is obviously as we said An architectural historian makes sense What she's there Noah married to Abigail from Bachelor in Paradise They do homework and they flip their entire house together They did a lot of it on Instagram Documenting a room He was from Tasia's season And oddly, I was like I was like, who didn't live with this mansion Why are these guys saying that they didn't live with the mansion I was like, yeah, that's right Because during COVID they didn't film with the mansion And then Sam, he only had one night at the mansion Because Jen's season didn't really film there either Joan is an interior designer Wait, timeout, I'm confused I forget why did Jen's season not film there Did they start traveling? They just start traveling I think you've kind of do with Golden I think they're like taking like a time off from there or something

But they like, I think she basically cheers with them And said we're not going to use the house I don't remember that But that's a really interesting tidbit I know I didn't remember it until Sam reminded me of it So then Jeremy, same season, also didn't live there, crazy Dean, so yeah, like I was saying, Dean has done a whole bunch of like R in their house What does he, does he like have professional background in it? No, but he's very like crafts He's got like craftsman hands, he like knows how to build a great So a ton of things for their home And it's something that he's passionate about and he's really good at it So good Then we have Tammy She's been in real estate for a long time She also has a design background Chris, you know from Golden Bachelorette He's a general contractor Sam, also a general contractor Sam, you guys know from Jen's season And then Courtney Robertson, real estate agent Sandra, real estate agent

Jeremy, this, he was the most, it is he belonged to me He's a property investor Brendan, who we know as the villain from Tacia season Well, he wasn't a villain on Tacia season, but on the following Bachelor in Paradise With big scandal about pre-planning situations and all that He has a girlfriend now from the show, right? Yeah, yeah, he dated the girl that he had the whole controversy with They lasted quite a while, and now he's with another girl from the show So be my mind too Then, but he like makes so much sense Because he's a commercial roofer and painter And then Alli Usha, she is an interior designer Of Jill is so funny when Alli Usha walks in She's like, oh no Because they had beef on this past season of Bachelor in Paradise And then just to make note Tacia has two X's there in Brendan and Noah

All right, so then basically Jesse tells everyone that there is $100,000 at stake One person will be making it They're going to be divided into two teams, girls versus guys And then there will be some eliminations along the way They first start off with the challenge Where they have to like, it's just like a, you know, kind of like a fast challenge It's a mental thing And this is going to get somebody immunity It ends up being Dean I was very happy it was Dean Because just seeing Dean, like I want to see Dean on my screen at all times Like, he just makes you so happy He is just such a special human being I feel like we all need a dose of Dean on TV all the time Just so that we can like get some brightness in our life You know what's interesting about Dean He's one of my best friends in the world Yeah I love him deeply But when you're with Dean and person He can come off as a little apathetic at times

Right? Like he just like, is go with the flow chill But he always is like Coke kind of poking and prodding You put him on a TV screen Oh yeah And he's like a leader He's boisterous and passionate and confident And I'm like, who? Where is this guy? He has multiple personalities They're all great But I love him in this zone Well, it's a comfortable zone for him It's also I think a show that doesn't intimidate him I don't know if any experiences intimidate Dean He's done a lot of crazy things in his life But this feels very much like we're going to see Dean Bell come alive It might be one of the reasons why his wife really pushed him to do this Oh, she's why did she even have to push? Like, didn't come on You're amazing We had a golf trip planned in the middle of it It was tough It was a tough yes But I mean he does And it's fun to see Dean come alive like this Because when he comes alive

He is And he always is But when he comes alive He is one of those people that stand out and light up a room He's a huge character during this show Because he has that it factor Right? He has that ability to jump off your screens Which not everybody does And it doesn't mean since you've been on TV you have it either So I'm with you Dean was a huge win for them Ashley, I do want to pause you here though Before we keep diving into the episode I watched the episode But there is a moment where this location scout comes in And talks about how she found the bachelor mansion But she has like a pony with her I don't know where the why What's the pony about? I just don't even know why these two interviews existed Well, they were kind of fun It was a snippet from Marshall Which actually just ends up confusing the audience And then there's a snippet from this lady Who scouted the house She was the one who found the house for the show And she just has a random pony with her

Which I mean We don't know why, right? No I want to know what the pony is about Really, I'm very curious on why there was a pony there It just, I don't know, some producers like It'll be funny if she's petting a pony It is funny, but it's better Yeah, but it doesn't make any sense It's like, at all Exama isn't always obvious But it's real And so is the relief From Ebglis After an initial dosing phase About four and ten people taking Ebglis A cheap, itch relief, and clear Or almost clear skin at sixteen weeks And most of those people maintain skin That's still more clear at one year with monthly dosing Ebglis, LibriKizumab, LBKZ A 250mg for two milliliter injection Is a prescription medicine used to treat adults And children 12 years of age and older Who weigh at least 88 lbs Were 40kg with moderate to severe eczema Also called a topic dermatitis That is not well controlled With prescription therapies used on the skin Or topicals, or who cannot use topical therapies Ebglis can be used with Or without topical corticosteroids

Oh gosh, don't make me do this No, I got it Oh, okay, okay I thought you were going to have me do the math that they did for the challenge And I was like, I do not, I can't do that I want that to you The house is 10,000 square feet It sits on nine acres of property That's incredible in Los Angeles Seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms I don't even know where all the eight bathrooms are I could name... Some of them are hidden from us Yeah, I could name five that I know of that we had access to Or could pinnacle our way into But there must be some bathrooms hidden that I've never seen Well, I think we should mention that The house has a wing to it that the cast never sees There's part of the house I haven't seen It's over on the garage area Yeah, two of the downstairs bedrooms are used for interview rooms So then we are left with the three upstairs bedrooms Which has a total of three bathrooms upstairs And then we have two bathrooms downstairs One is a powder room And the other one actually has a shower

About ECs, that shower Because it was the most private The whole show is set up for eliminations As Ashley mentioned, Jesse Shares that $100,000 will go to the winner of this season And each episode, multiple people If not a one person, if not multiple people Will be eliminated from the show Coming down to the final winner of the season That was not a surprise to us We figured it would happen However, it's a little bit of a bummer to me how many people they removed Right away That was tough because I want to see so many of these people operating inside the house And I do believe that for time's sake On how quickly they can make these renovations The more people the better Just my two cents Yeah Also, as Ashley was very nervous They started out the episode pretty much with a immunity game As soon as they said it was going to be math

I was like Dean's going to crush it Dean's incredible at math He's a smart guy He doesn't always brag about his intelligence But he's got a brain that is pretty much like a watch safe He doesn't forget anything which is very scary as a friend However, Ashley, if you were asked to be a part of this game How well would you have done when it comes to square footage See, here you are No, just how well would you have done I'm not going to ask you to do it I'm just asking how well would you have done I think you would have a great multiplication and division and stuff I will say it was square footage That was something I kind of learned as of recently One time it was a classic It's a classic memory in our marriage Jared and I were looking at lots to build a house on This is like four or five years ago When I had no concept of reality

I was not a mom yet and my full concentration was on building the most beautiful house That has not yet to be yet And that's totally fine because I realize there's more boring things in life Anyway, we were meeting with the real estate agent And the thing is you wouldn't be able to have a restriction on the amount of square footage Probably wouldn't want to go above six or seven thousand on this property And I go, oh Well, I was thinking that we need at least 10,000 square feet And then Jared was like, what? In the world that is so embarrassed I was like, yeah, my parents house is 10,000 square feet And actually, my parents house isn't 10,000 square feet And we would never need a house as big as my parents But lo and behold, what I really meant was that I wanted a house around the 5,000 square feet But I said 10,000 and it was embarrassing Yeah, I mean, I just think this is not an easy...

If you don't know square footage Just wouldn't have been an easy equation to figure out But if you know square footage, it's not hard, right? It's multiplication and a little bit of subtraction And you're rocking and rolling But this is not embarrassing Actually, I would never call you out But you on the spot when it comes to math Because my wife is very smart She was an incredible student And we talk often right now about how much we've forgotten Like if you told me to do long division or any type of calculus I think I could still do algebra I never had to take calculus I do a little more geometry in my daily life than anything else And so I could probably figure it out But it's not perfect It's like messy and kind of like I'm trying a bunch of different equations To try to figure out what makes sense It's not easy and so don't feel bad I think as adults, most adults would say Yeah, we've forgotten math Like it's okay, we're not a walking calculator

Oh man, you are giving me flashbacks It's trigonometry, I had to drop out of that class How did you do trig and not calculus? Well, in college I had to do two math classes So I did college algebra, which is fantastic I loved that, I liked algebra, I always did well in that And then I had to do like one other And you chose trigonometry? Wow, good for you Well, wait, so you think that that's harder than calculus? Yes, I agree Really? Yes, so much easier Producer Heather says yes too Oh, so no wonder I had to drop out of it By the time of the dropout date You know how you have like three weeks or something It's not easy Goodness actually It's not, no, trigonometry is not fun I would wish it upon nobody that they can use it Anyways, Dean succeeds at winning this competition Which gives him the golden hammer I know he loves the innuendos With the golden hammer And Dean does his... I couldn't put that together Oh, I know what Dean's mind was thinking

Oh yeah, he loves that he has this golden hammer to swing around Dean wins the golden hammer Which gives him immunity for the week Honestly, as much as I love Dean He's probably the worst person to have immunity week one Because he's going to come out flying Like he's going to just cause chaos He's going to use this to his advantage You're saying that basically He's going to throw out the weirdest ideas like a blue roof So that he can stick around Do you think that he would have suggested the Santorini room If he didn't have immunity? I like the blue roof, blue ceiling I thought it was great Honestly, I do think Dean has... Well, in their house they've painted a lot of their ceilings And so I think what Dean was thinking was Hey, a painted ceiling is in right now And it looks good I like the painted ceiling definitely I didn't like the fact that now that room Is not cohesive with the Italian vibe of the rest of the house With more of the olive tones More neutral tones

And now there's this bright white and blue room But it doesn't fit in I want to get into that in a second Hold that thought Okay Because I do think it's something to get into I think he would have recommended it I doubt he would have been as confident in his opinion Without knowing that he was going to be around No matter what You know, you don't want to be the fall guy Or the loudest voice, week one You got to kind of get into it a little bit Yeah All right, well what do you want to get into before We get into the guy's task Okay, so the show is set up The competition is set The guys will be responsible for two smaller bedrooms And the girls will be, the women will be responsible For the larger bedroom With the fireplace There is a theme given to all of them I believe Not really Okay, so it's kind of just shoot you shot and go And was it fair that the guys had two separate rooms

To maneuver? Is a question I think viewers will ask And I would say when it comes to square footage Yes, when you think about the details and the dynamics of it No I think it would have been hard One thing I'm going to be worried about all season actually And maybe I'm just too concerned about the family that's living there Who is it? Why are we stressed out the entire time watching this thinking about it? Well, I think I wasn't stressed out until they were like Hey, we're going to take out this beautiful thing on the ceiling And then we're going or not even beautiful Just like massive piece on the ceiling And we're going to also make the fireplace inaccessible to anybody for future visits I'm like these are crazy steps you're taking And not necessarily preferred for me However, my concern with this show is there is no continuity So there isn't an overall theme communicated us on what the house should be looking like It's not modern Italian, it's not set up as clean

It's not necessarily even hey make this just renovate this Tuscan feel to refresh it a bit There's no continuity throughout the house So we are going to have a green room with green shades And a blue room with blue shades And another room that's Tuscan and feels like very much what I would want my office to look like And is that how this whole house is going to be? There should have been like hey guys you have to keep it in the Mediterranean mindset 100% like I want a theme Because for me one of the most impressive things that a designer does One of the most impressive things a carpenter does Is when you walk into a home and you're like it flows Right? It has an aesthetic that flows from room to room It doesn't all have to look the thing the same But at least we understand why this room looks the way it does and this room looks the way it does But we're going to end up just like patching together different vibes

It's going to be dizzy is what I would use to describe this aesthetic Well so one we do see the final product of all three rooms which by the way guys The girls are assigned the primary bedroom And it or at least what we think is we don't even know is it the bigger girls bedroom now Whatever it's the bigger one it's the one that I lived in lots of memories and they're awesome awesome to just see it again And then there are two other bedrooms that are everybody's you know Just crammed into the past the first two weeks of the season But in my head I remember and I think that this was a point in my head that I was harping on that the audience would not harp on But I'm pretty sure they took away two bunks from each room like a bunk from each room My bedroom had one, two, three, four, five bunks and I think they made it so that it has four bunks now And then the room that was the Tuscan room that had three bunks and I think there's two in there now

So obviously it's going to look better when you eliminate a bunk So I'm like okay this looks great for this show but are they got a cram one in there when everybody moves in? It's a good question. It's a fair question. That's why I want to know who are they doing this for I'm sure there was I mean these rooms are very rarely shown during the season They are they're not shown very much so they can just throw one in and make it not look so cute Yeah, they can they can pack it in somewhere and there was some more there are some other rooms in the house That we're not so iconic and used that maybe the show can use now to make up for this space I don't know necessarily how the sleeping arrangements go these days But Ashley are you concerned with my thought of continuity and chaos in the aesthetic of the house? I think that while it wasn't said both teams seem to respect the origin Being of the house which was a Mediterranean and I think that that's how it'll continue to be

I do think that it was not just Mediterranean but it was Italian which I think that two rooms are going with And that's what the why the the Santorini room stresses me out right now Because even though it's Mediterranean Santorini and Tuscany are two completely different looks Very much so Tuscany is like a farming community you know Stay I don't like it region stones and so yeah a lot of old architecture a lot of dark woods And then yeah Santorini is a beach feel I will see how it goes throughout the rest of the season honestly Personal Ashley just a personal thought What do you think about this new trend it's very easy to do DIY and to fix up a room doing this With the kind of wood slats that go straight up and down with a little space in between It was used in all both the the women and the men's design

There it's called fluted Yes, I thought this was on the bunks And what we see it in the preview for the rest of the season kind of everywhere It is a very common design right now. What do you think of it? How do you feel? I don't like it. Yeah, so it's a little hard for me to look out honestly No, like not like I it's like my eyes can't adjust Yeah, I'm interesting. I can't get like a point of Focus when that's kind of sitting beside behind somebody Which is why I wouldn't put it in my house because I would walk into the room and I it kind of feels A little too much for me. It is popular though people do like it. They do use it And it is a very quick way to kind of fix up and clean up any type of wall or any type of paneling needed But it is used a lot and we see it use a lot throughout the rest of the season Ashley kind of some final thoughts here obviously Tasha and Tyler Cameron are the judges this season

It seems like they will be Used throughout the season where they'll have some guest judges come in for some specific projects And in Jesse is the main host of the show so we have a lot of voices and power An influence during this season Which is good. I think the bachelor is this is coming from a place where the bachelor has year for years trying to figure out How do we utilize this talent from the past who people followed and loved and still follow in love How do we continue to use them in ways that benefit the show? I think this is fine. It's for HUTV. It's good. It makes sense. I like it. It's fun Do does this feel that void for me the one that I've been saying for years and years that I want them to take couples I mean obviously this is selfish that I want them to take couples that have had success And then put them on some competition show where you get to see the couples compete

You know amazing race style or whatnot Trader style something like that it'd be so fun But I don't know if it'll ever happen and now with my NBC contract I don't know that I could ever participate if it happened Anyway, well I think you make the point that I'm trying to get to I love seeing these familiar faces again Yeah, but I want to see them. I don't want to just see them stop in like I don't care to see Hannah Brown just stopping on my television Oh, I'm talking about like the regular cast like I love seeing the regular cast like Jill and Dean and Courtney and Joan I really even even know I just people that you've become so familiar with I really I had my cup filled in a way with it all Yes, but to I want to finish the stocks I don't want to sound like I just said I don't want to see Hannah Brown I do want to see Hannah Brown, but I want to like see her compete again or see her

Get involved in something again. I feel like what they keep bringing the Hannah Browns and the tashes and the Joe Joe's back But we miss it because we don't get to actually see them we just see him stop in fill a day roll Exactly more than a day roll like Hannah Brown was on paradise and what did we what did we learn about Hannah Brown or what did we talk about when it came to Hannah Brown based on her time in paradise Nothing what are we gonna talk about when it comes to Hannah Brown and her like stop in on this show nothing It's great to see them. Yes. Does that add anything? I don't think so I think this episode would have been fine if it was just Jesse walking through the rooms My point is I want to see these people shine on television again and the way we know them to be able to shine Which is when we get an up close and personal look at their life. So you're saying that you would want to see Tyler and Tasha and Hannah competing in the games.

Yes. Yeah. How do we sit and if not like what are we doing and so then just have Jesse be the host. Yes. Yeah. Okay. That makes sense. All right. I want to see Tyler Cameron have to do stuff too. Yeah. So that is one thing that I think the show they they wanted to elevate a few people and make it a thing. I just think it feels like we're never gonna experience Who they actually are and see them compete because one thing I do think will happen this season is I do think drama will ensue I know in my family dynamic Especially with my parents growing up in a household that did everything ourselves Very rarely would hire anybody to do anything. There was a lot of outdoor work a lot of indoor work my grandpa was working all the time on his farm Arguments happen within the first five minutes. It's just how things work when it comes to a project you want to put Jessica and I us argue more than decorating Jared and I it's our ultimate weakness in fighting arguing. So it's gonna happen right we're not gonna be able to walk through this season with this many big

personalities without arguing happening. I want to see it happen and arguing happen from some of the bachelor nation people that we know can argue the best the Hannah Browns the Tasha The use so one thing I just think we'll miss is while so many people stop and we're like yeah, but if they had to get dirty a little bit this could be awesome Exama is unpredictable, but you can flare less with eggless a once monthly treatment from moderate to superior exama After an initial four-month or longer dosing phase about four and ten people taking eggless achieved it's really and glare are almost glare skin at 16 weeks And most of those people maintain skin that's still more glare at one year with monthly dosing. Mainly because I really, I think that's just because he's just not of the same age group And he's just a little bit left out that he has plenty of stuff But a note there, he might be the most talented and the most useful one comes to do Which I'm so glad Dean did not vote him off because he had to do a tiebreaker Yeah And I'm glad that he chose to eliminate Jeremy because Jeremy like just doesn't make as much sense there as Chris obviously And goodness, I mean, I want to see Jeremy kind of have this redemption arc during the show or see kind of his skill set But I don't know if you felt this way, I'm watching it and I don't know the dynamics internally But you could tell Jeremy like really just want to be buddies with so many of these guys on the show And he was like roommates with Dean and they get set up together And you can tell he's just trying to be like, hey, I'm happy to be your kind of guy And then the one guy you could tell he really wanted to like buddy up with was Dean No And then Dean votes him off and I'm like goodness, this is guy, it's like it was sad to me

It was It was a little sad And while like we've always been super hard on Jeremy on other shows I do find that he's a good, he's good on TV There's something about him that is interesting to watch Sure Because he's a sh**ster, I don't know Yeah, I think it would have been good TV But okay, keep going, sorry, I just wanted to note that That I felt like he was like a puppy dog at times being like, hey, I want to be friends with guys here And then they're like, hey, get out of here Yeah Then there was people, someone really just Sandra having a little beef with Jill I thought that Jill was just well not being a team player, she walked out of a group meeting Just saying that it was over And then she also said that somebody said that Jill was like being kind of too opinionated Like to my way or the highway Does she have that in her? Probably Yeah But I also like that about her But if you're working on a team it is hard when you have that that hard personality

Sure I don't know if I'm like that in a team, but I know that when it comes to our home I'm always like, no, that doesn't belong there, I'm sorry Like I know I told you you could put something somewhere, but no, that doesn't work You know what I do, I sulk And I was watching this show and I was like, there's so many moments that I would be sulking Because my voice wasn't heard or my opinion wasn't shared And so I get like that even in my own home when I'm like, hey, I think we need to do it this way Maybe there's an opposite opinion and like, all right, but now I'm the one that has to do it I don't want to do it the way that I don't want to do it I would have a hard time because I've been trying to follow in life better Like be a follower and a leader at times Being able to step up and lead but also be able to take us back seat It's, I know this about myself Ashley I don't take a back seat easily Yeah, I know that's when Sandra said some people are leaders and then some people have to be followers

I was like, oh, is that how it goes? Because not on my terms Yeah, I am not good at it There's so many moments where I go into something and I'm like, okay, I'm gonna just listen I'm gonna follow along, I'm gonna have a great time doing it And then what do I find? I find myself at some point having the loudest voice, the most direct voice, the most opinionated voice Well, that's because we're on reality TV I'm pretty sure that most people on reality TV tend to have the leader personality This has been a problem my whole life I think it's an old child thing Oh, that is an oldest child and only child Yeah Somebody in the conversation who is a second child, third child coming here Yeah, Jessica Jessica follow along so well She's so good at just hanging out But, okay, to speed this up a little bit Ashley, we did remove again Jeremy and Sandra from this episode very early on There was the finished product as we said

The women did win, the men had to vote out one more person It's a 2B continued episode Ashley, who do you think got voted out? I'm actually super duper torn because everybody there What is pretty darn qualified to be there constructing and designing and How sweet of it was Dean to vote for himself even though he can't Smart, that was smart So sweet, so Dean and yes, that means he's not eliminated one of the other guys My gut says it's probably gonna be I don't know, it could be Noah or Chris I think I would actually go complete, I think it's Sam Okay, why? He didn't have a huge role He didn't have a huge role, he's one of the two people that have Like an old school carpentry background and I think they saw Kind of the usefulness of Chris's skill set, you see Chris doing a lot

You don't see Sam doing a lot I also think Sam probably came into this Tired of being known as the villain so he was a little more quiet At least the first episode I think over time we would see his personality shine But he was a little more quiet I also have this feeling that people want to play nice during this show They don't want this than be like a super dramatic show And they know that Chris was on the chopping block during the first elimination I bet they would have a hard time being like yeah Chris we're gonna like double down on that Yeah Okay I guess Sam, I would say Sam I don't think Noah Because I think he's built enough alliances He's friendly enough with everyone Yeah, he's scheming behind the scenes a little bit right now He's like the ultimate guy who has a connection to everyone too Yeah, I think Noah would be a hard vote at least right now What's gonna happen when we get to a certain point where you can't vote people off Like it's not gonna make like I guess it's just gonna be two on one

And then eventually on the finale It'll probably be up to like the judges for you know whose project was better It'll be interesting to watch the season go on There's one last note that I have to say And that was that we see carpenters in the background But they could have explained like we'll have a team to make your dreams become reality Really quickly didn't explain that That's how all the HGTV shows work It's not like you know the property brothers are making the house Yeah, I mean there's too much when they took down the fixture that was in the middle of the women's room There was obviously a ton of drywall work and patching work that they've done So somebody had to work through the night to patch that mud that, sand that And then get it ready for painting So yes, there had to be help people helping throughout the day I do know this and I will share this bit of information They worked really the contestants did have to work really hard It was all day things doing like on their hands and knees doing the project

This is not a setup for TV kind of show The contestants were actually doing the projects but there had to be more hands involved A little more expertise probably from a few people kind of helping navigate some of the projects But I know that the contestants in the day were exhausted from the work that had to be done Which is fun So I wish I would have seen a little bit more of the handsiness I think it would be an injustice to us if we don't see more of them working and struggling and failing Because we didn't see any of them like tossing away of really nice like mahogany during the episode And somebody being super frustrated I remember when Marshall told me that the double doors going into the primary bedroom Insanely intricate doors they were shipped over from India completely handcrafted They're not going to get rid of these things No, just say primary Yeah, there's a lot to this house that I'm assuming has a piece of tape on it saying

Please do not touch, please do not remove But we'll see as the season goes that's going to be one of the intriguing factors is how much of this house Do they change and how much do they actually change it? Ashley after episode one Are you intrigued by this show? Yes, it is two hours it does feel like a long time There was a lot of standing around during this episode I hope it gets a little more action packed a little more fast paced I want this to be more in the weeds on how they're doing the projects and who's doing well and who's not But are you intrigued with this show? Yeah, definitely I'm excited to see it again I am too. I think it's going to be good. I think it's going to be fun for us to watch It's fun for us to watch because it's not like a whole bunch of drama Yeah, it's fun to see these people like work and get gritty and have to compromise Yeah, in another element that we're used to seeing That's right, you're right Now would I care if...

Yeah, let me see if it wasn't for Bachelor contestants What if the Bachelor contestants weren't doing this and that were actual experts on the show doing the flip? Would you be as interested because I guess I probably wouldn't care No, I think the scene the Bachelor mentioned get redone is it's fun and exciting And I do love HGTV Yeah, I do so I do like watching regular houses get flipped So there might be an element to that but I do think it's fun to see the contestants have to be doing this I think that's fun And it does add the only reason I mentioned that little behind the scenes detail Is it's fun for me to know that these people like a weekend like this was day one They've gotten good rest They haven't been lifting anything in a while But let's see this like a weekend like episode three, four Yeah And see how tired and sore some of these people are working on this house That's when I think things are going to get really good So it's fun for me to know that the people that came are actually the ones doing the projects Because I know in my own life Day one's easy, day two's frustrating

Day three, I'm exhausted and day four I'm ready to get it done So we'll see how the contestants handle all this It's fun to see the Bachelor coming up again on our televisions It's also really great for us to have something to break down Ashley as we do every first episode of every season that we break down If you were to pick your guests on who wins Who would it be? Can you go first? Oh no, I don't want you to go first I feel like Dean's going to win Okay, I'm going to pick Joan Mostly because I think it's going to be really hard to vote Joan off She's so lovable, she's so likable She's so considerate of other people's opinions and feelings and emotions That I think she's going to feel like the person that kind of is the glue to bring people together And I also think she has some talent And so I just can't see any, I mean how brutal of a human do you have to be right now To be like I honestly to vote off Sandra or Chris

But then also to be like hey Joan go home Like I also here's who I hope win So you want to who outside of Dean because he's a friend I want to see Courtney win I do Courtney is an empathetic character I know she's a beautiful and wonderful human who you know we both love And I think she got a bad rap on her time I think it really hurt her but now she has a family She said yes to the show and she was taken away from her family for a long period of time I really would love to see her walk away because I think it would give her that bump That would be true to who she is But also give her that encouragement maybe she needs So my hope is that Courtney sticks around Yeah Courtney when they had the little round table moment with the girls She was pretty emotional saying that like she feels like she's lost herself You know and motherhood and all that And this is like a way to get part of her own personality back So it was very relatable and very emotional And I yeah again like we used to said always like Courtney

But I do feel like she kind of like fell to the wayside in this episode And I guess I'm just going off Dean because I just think that he's the personality that stands out the most of everybody And I do think he only made this anatory decision Because he had immunity I don't think that he would have done that Dean would also be a hard person to vote off That's yeah Well this has been the first breakdown of HGTV's new show Where they're renovating the bachelor mansion Hey if you haven't watched the episode yet And you just listened to our podcast There is still so much in there that we didn't go over Like hey Dean did a DIY artwork project As well as convincing everybody to paint the ceiling blue You'll want to see the visuals of how these rooms looked and operated outside of how we explain them to you So go back and watch the episode But also continue to come here and listen to our breakdown of each episode As we break it down each week on the almost famous podcast
