The Embattled Church: Sinners, Saints, and Charlatans
About this episode
85% of young adults today say one of the reasons they do not go to church is because of the hypocrisy of believers. It’s a valid defeater of Christianity. Why would an unbeliever change his or her behavior when adherents of Christianity themselves do not abide by their own standards. It’s easy and convenient to dismiss the accusation as a red herring, as some Christian apologists do. This approach however only further adds distance to those we are genuinely seeking God.
On this show, Dr. Harry Edwards, Dr. Jacob Daniel and special guest Anthony Costello discuss their approach to this challenge infused with a conversation around C.S. Lewis’ last few chapters of Mere Christianity in which he seeks to provide wisdom on the problem of Christian hypocrisy.
