She earned a PhD in Educational Psychology with a focus on Human Development from Ball State University. She studies virtue development and adolescent perceptions of justice. For the past ten years, she has collaborated with the South African non-profit, iThemba Projects, conducting pro-bono program evaluations to support their intervention development.
