The Conies Win Top UK Award for Volunteer Work

0:00On April 27th, a charity called The Coneys just picked up the King's Award for Voluntary Service, one of the UK's top honors for volunteer groups, making a real difference in communities. These cartoon traffic cone heroes teach primary school kids in the West Midlands about safety, creativity, and well-being. The big moment went down at Hazlux Green Junior School in Sallie Hole. His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for the West Midlands, Derek Anderson, presented the Awards of Founder and Chair, Faye Goodman, with help from Cadet. Bryony Sheard, Kids from the School and Nearby Dams in Wood Infant School, kick things off with the teeth-brushing song they recorded for World Oral Health Day. Anderson then screened the group's animation on brushing teeth, made with a design studio in Mumbai. Anderson called it an exceptional effort by volunteers lifting others up. Faye thanked everyone on behalf of the team, saying it fuels their push to empower kids worldwide for safer, happier lives.

They get families and schools into adventures that build life-saving skills. Their latest is Coney's Safe Explorers, free workshops funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, mixing art, music, and lessons on dodging dangers from rose to online spots. This awards spotlights how grassroots groups, like the Coney's, keep innovating for kids' futures, inviting more partners to join the safety revolution across the globe.
