Another day, another Nintendo Direct. Let's talk about it. Welcome to your IGN daily update. Nintendo Direct September 2026 number two with less Zelda has come to a close. But before we get into everything we saw, there were a number of games that were conspicuous by their absence. Perhaps the biggest offender here is from software switch to exclusive the dustbloods, which fans had hoped would get a release date during the Nintendo Direct. This is a game currently down for release in 2026.

So Nintendo is running out of time to either announce a release date or delay it into 2027. We also didn't see any more of the ocarina of time remake, nor did Nintendo tease the next 3D Mario game, which was always something of a pipe dream. But we do now have a clearer idea of what's coming to switch to for the rest of 2026 and into next year. First up, it's Kirby. Nintendo Direct ended with the announcement of a brand new Kirby game Kirby and the world beyond. It's due out on Switch 2 spring 2027. This latest 3D adventure lets you freely explore using Kirby's copy abilities. Next year marks Kirby's 35th anniversary and Nintendo said to look out for fresh announcements for the series. A new 3D adventure is on the horizon for Kirby and Nintendo said, freely explore an expansive world and put Kirby's copy abilities to creative use as you uncover what awaits in Kirby and the world beyond. Spring 2027 also marks the Kirby series's 35th anniversary.

Atlas showed up at Nintendo Direct to confirm Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6 are coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Featuring a visually enhanced version of the original Dongan Rompah 2, could buy a spare scenario alongside a brand new story with the same setting and characters. Dongan Rompah 2 by 2 launches for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on January 14, 2027. Nintendo Direct also announced the Metal Slug Ultimate Collection, which includes 10 classic Metal Slug games. There's online multiplayer, online leaderboards, and a gallery of artwork and music from across the series. The long lost location test version of Metal Slug, Metal Slug Ultimate Collection launches for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in 2027. Mega Man made an appearance at Nintendo Direct, Mega Man Dual Override got a new trailer and confirmation of amiibo figures. It's due out Spring 2027. According to Nintendo, Mega Man Dual Override, Proto Man joins Mega Man as a playable character in this new entry in the classic action series.

Players can jump in with Proto Man's versatile shield based fighting style, or use Mega Man's ranged firepower, then personalize their playstyle by equipping custom chips to mix and match abilities. Nintendo announced a free Mario Kart World update, which adds classic courses from Super Mario Kart such as Chaco Island, Vanilla Lake, and Ghost Valley. The free update adds 10 new courses and two new routes to knockout tour. The 1.8.0 update for Mario Kart World also launched on Wednesday. Now to a big one. Nintendo announced a new 2D Metroid game called Metroid Ravenous. The trailer revealed fast-paced action, boss fights, and dramatic cutscenes. It's either be eaten, Samus declares. It's due out January 28th, 2027. There are also new Amibo figures and a Metroid Ravenous Nintendo Switch 2 special edition also do out then. As expected, Direct gave us a new look at Nintendo Switch Sports Resort.

It's due out on Switch 2 on October 22nd. Other new Switch 2 games announced include Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis, Due Out February 12, 2027. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will launch October 16th, 2026. With pre-orders now available, Cairn launches on Switch 2 early next year with a free demo now live. Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight launches on Switch 2 on September 18th. Stage fright is coming to Switch and Switch 2 next year. Nintendo revealed Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 edition during the Direct, and its due out November 12th, 2026. Star Fox is getting a free update to add new stages on September 29th. Meanwhile, Star Fox Adventures has officially launched on Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics. The Pokémon Pocopie expansion past DLC got a new trailer at Nintendo Direct, and you can expect part 2 to come out later this year. Hyrule Warriors, Age of Calamity, Definitive Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch 2,

and its due out February 25th, 2027. And the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy ends with Revelation, which is also coming to Switch 2. Its due out April 8th, 2027. Pre-orders have begun on the eShop. Meanwhile, Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, the HD Remastered Final Fantasy 7 Prequel has already launched on the Nintendo eShop. That's your IGN Daily Update.
