Airbnb has revolutionized the travel industry in recent years, providing an easy and convenient way for travelers to find accommodations. This has been beneficial for travelers who are seeking affordable alternatives to hotels and for property owners who can make extra money renting out their spaces. However, Airbnb is not without its controversy. Airbnb’s have been linked to rising rents and gentrification, especially in urban cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City. With the influx of Airbnbs in these areas, there has been less available housing for long-term renters, leading to increased competition and driving prices up. In turn, gentrification has taken place, with more affluent renters taking over the area.
