Texas Longhorns Stun BYU, Advance in NCAA Tournament

0:00On March 20th, the Texas Longhorns pulled off a solid upset in the NCAA tournament, beating the number 6 seeded BYU Cougars 79-2, 71 on Thursday night. As the number 11 seed, they advanced to the round of 32 and will stay out west for their next game. Earlier this week, Texas kept their season alive by knocking out NC State in the first four. Now, this win sets them up against either the number 3 seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs or the number 14 seeded Kennesall State Owls. Center Matas Vokieta Idas dominated inside for the Longhorns, finishing with 23 points and 16 rebounds on 10 of 17 shooting. His size gave BYU Fits all game long. BYU's star freshman, AJ DiBanza, poured in a game high 35 points, but Texas got key help from their back court. Traymon Mark added 19 points, four blocks and some clutch plays, while Jordan Pope chipped in 11 points and six assists. With momentum building, the Longhorns look ready to extend their run in the tournament
