Texas Longhorns Advance, Limit BYU in NCAA Tournament

Thursday, at the Motor Center in Portland, sophomore center, Mata's Boquietta, itis-led Texas with 23 points and 16 rebounds, powering through a rough night at the free-throw line. Graduate guard Tremont-Marc added 19 points, including key free-throws in the final seconds to seal the win. Texas coach Sean Miller called his team resilient after overcoming early challenges all season. Meanwhile, BYU freshman-forward AJ DiBanza dropped 35 points, but the Longhorns limited the rest of the Cougars scoring. The Longhorns built a 9.5-time lead and fended off second half runs, even while struggling from the striped late. Their defense stepped up with blocks and steels to keep BYU at bay. Texas now awaits the winner of third-seated Gonzaga and 14th-seated Kennesau State in the next matchup at the same Portland Arena.
