Tehran Blasts: US-Israel Strike Kills Khamenei, Escalates Middle East Conflict

A massive plume of smoke rose from the blast as the conflict escalated sharply in the Middle East. Iran quickly named Ali Reza, Arafi, as temporary Supreme Leader until a permanent one is chosen. Iranian leaders called the killing a great crime and vowed strong revenge, with the revolutionary guard promising its biggest offensive yet against the U.S. and Israeli bases. Protests erupted across the region, with crowds and Pakistan storming the U.S. consulate in Karachi leading to nine deaths in clashes. In Iraq, demonstrators tried to breach the green zone and Baghdad, and similar anger showed up in places like Kashmir. Iran declared morning periods and holidays for Khamenei.
