Teenagers' Spring Break Nightmare: Utah Crash Leaves Them Burned

On April 2nd, a Polaris RZR they were riding, flipped and burst into flames near St. George, leaving both girls with serious burn injuries. One is 15-year-old, Brooklyn Mallet, daughter of an Orange County Fire Captain, and the other her friend from Ukaipa. The families were on a group trip with fellow firefighters when the crash happened on the way back to camp. Quick thinking adults rushed in, yanked the girls from the wreck and doused the fire with extinguishers they had on hand. Those same firefighters pulled out medical kits, bought from Amazon right there on scene to cool the burns and stabilize them. That fast action, likely saved their lives before life flight choppers, took them to a burn unit in Las Vegas. Brooklyn suffered burns over 40% of her body and has already gone through three surgeries. Her friend has damaged her face, neck, chest and arm.
