Teen Trial: Rape Allegations in Manchester

0:00On March 7th, a trial was underway in Manchester for three teenage boys accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in bushes near a tram stop in. Rochdale back in February 2024. Prosecutors say the boys, who were 12, 13, and 14 at the time, took turns in the attack, and part of it was caught on a mobile phone. Video that was shared around. Jurors recently washed a 10-second Snapchat clip from one of the boys' phones, played at full speed and slowed down. You can hear laughing and someone saying something crude, with a hand visible touching the girl. The two older boys, now 15 and 16, denied the rape charges, while the youngest, now 14, has been ruled unfit to stand trial. The girl's mother broke down in court describing the frantic call she got right after. She pulled over in shock when family screamed that her daughter had been raped, then rushed to find her terrified and hurt, insisting they had, straight to the hospital. Prosecutors argue the boys knew exactly what consent meant, but went ahead anyway, and the girl wasn't asked about being filmed.

1:04The defense claims she agreed to some activity and even started it. Charges include individual and joint enterprise rapes, all denied by the boys. The case continues as the jury weighs the evidence, shedding light on a tough incident involving young teens.
