Teen Rescued from Swollen Cahaba River

Firefighters with the Irondale Fire Department pulled a teenage boy to safety from the fast-moving Kahaba River on Tuesday evening. The incident happened near Grants Mill Road after recent rains swelled the water. The teen had slipped in while hanging out with a friend. He managed to grab a rope swing and hold on until help arrived. Crews quickly entered the river and brought him across without issue. No one got hurt during the rescue operation. Fire Chief Joshua McDaniel warns folks to steer clear of the Kahaba after heavy rain, especially if you're not familiar with it.
