Was up Durham? This is Durham News Today, bringing you the city's fastest updates on what is happening now. A 17-year-old driver was charged Tuesday after failing to yield and slamming into a school bus in Durham County. The crash happened around 5 p.m. on Mineral Springs Road, where a discovery charter school bus was heading north. The team came from Destrea Drive and hit the passenger side of the bus, according to state troopers. Troopers from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol handled the scene right away. They pieced together that the driver did not stop at the intersection, causing the collision. No one on the bus got hurt, including the driver and a high school student passenger. School officials confirmed everyone there was safe. In the car, the driver went to the hospital just as the precaution, while the two passengers walked away without injuries. Authorities hit the 17-year-old with charges for failure to yield the right of way and not wearing a seatbelt. All lanes on Mineral Springs Road reopen quickly after the wreck was cleared.
