Teddy Irvine Talks the NY Rangers ’72 Stanley Cup Playoffs

It was probably the biggest moment of his hockey career in New York, and he shares details and stories about his team’s incredible run from beating Chicago and Montreal to losing the Finals at home to Boston in 6 games. Teddy talks about the Rangers’ stacked lineup at the time which included goalies Ed Giacomin and Gilles Villemure, Bruce MacGregor, Billy Fairbarn, Rod Gilbert, Brad Park, Jean Ratelle, Rod Seiling, Pete Stemkowski, Walt Tkazcuk, Bobby Rousseau, and team captain, Vic Hadfield. He remembers what it was like to face Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito on the ice, and what it was like to prevent Boston from winning the Cup in their home rink! He also recalls his trade from LA to New York, negotiating his own contract, and winning over the tough as nails New York fans.
