Team USA Advances, Dominican Republic Falls in WBC

The key moment came in the bottom of the fifth with runners on first and second, one out and the score at 2-1. Freshly signed Blue Jays reliever Tyler Rogers came in and induced a 6-3 double play from Juan Soto on just his second pitch, ending the threat. Rogers, who inked a 3-year deal this off season, stepped in for Paul Schienz and kept the loaded Dominican lineup in check. Bobby with Jr. made a slick play behind second base, tagging the bag and throwing to Bryce Harper at first to beat Soto. Blue Jays fans have plenty to cheer with several players involved. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. smacked the 116-mile per-hour double for the Dominican Republic in the loss. Ernie Klimt-Pinch ran late in the game, while Jeff Hoffman stayed on the team USA roster, but didn't pitch.
