Here's more Birmingham news from March 19th. A former Bible teacher and soccer coach at Faith Academy and Mobile is set for trial on March 30th. 47-year-old Jonathan Daniel Sowers from Simmons faces charges of a school employee having sex acts and sexual contact with a student under. 19. Prosecutors say he had a relationship with a 16-year-old girl at the private school. The case broke open in 2023 when the girl's parents called police after she vanished from a Walmart parking lot. Her car was still there, but she was gone for about an hour and a half. Investigators learned Sowers had picked her up and driven to a nearby spot. When questioned, the teen admitted to months of sexual involvement with her teacher. Sowers got fired from Faith Academy immediately after the claim surfaced. The situation drew quick attention from school officials and law enforcement in Mobile County. Earlier this year in February, he rejected a plea deal, paving the way for the full trial. It kicks off at 9 a.m. with jury selection before Judge Wesley Pipes.
He's presumed innocent until proven guilty. This de-an-and-story is thanks to our sponsor details in the description. It looks like a pillow. It sounds like headphones, built for comfort and sound. S-O-L-L-I, solely pillow.com
