It's April 22nd. Welcome to Kansas News Today, powered by AI. I'm Corey with the story. A 43-year-old teacher from Plaza Middle School in Kansas City's Park Hill School District faces serious federal charges. Richard Villagram got hit with counts of attempted enticement of a minor using online tools and attempted receipt of child pornography. Earlier this week, officers arrested him Tuesday after he showed up at a spot he'd arranged to meet who he believed was a 15-year-old for sex. Turns out, it was an undercover agent he'd been texting back and forth. The school district put out a statement saying they're fully aware of the charges and teaming up with law enforcement to dig deeper. They're focused on student safety and trust while following all their policies to handle his employment. A search of his phone turned up the explicit messages to the undercover officer plus text to someone else about hooking up. He's due in federal court for a detention hearing on April 27th. This case highlights the dangers lurking online and authorities are making it clear
they won't let predators slip through, especially ones in. Positions of trust like teaching.
