Tampa Bay Bucs Consider Veteran Edge Rusher Bosa

About this episode

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are seeking a formidable edge rusher for the 2026 off-season, following a year where Yaya Diaby led with seven sacks, while the rest of the group managed just seven combined. Their defensive line coach, Marcus West, previously worked with the Buffalo Bills, where edge rushers totaled twenty-seven sacks. Joey Bosa, a free agent, could be a veteran option, having notched five sacks, five forced fumbles, and twenty-nine tackles in his first year with Buffalo. However, Bosas injury history, with only two full seasons played in ten years, may deter the Bucs from signing him, given his market value of around thirteen point seven million dollars.

The IIDAB had a solid year with seven sacks, but the rest of the group, including Hayson Reddick, Anthony Nelson, Chris Braswell, and Marquis Watts. Manage just seven sacks combined. Their defensive line coach, Marcus West, spent the recent 2025 season with the Buffalo Bills, where the ed rusher's totaled. 27 sacks. Second on that list was Joy Bosa, who was hitting free agency soon and could fit right in as a veteran option. At 31 years old, Bosa brings proven production. In his first year with Buffalo, he notched five sacks, five forced fumbles to lead the lead, 29 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits. Over his career with the charges and bills, he has 77 sacks and plenty of big plays. That said, injuries are a major concern for Bosa.

He has only played a full season twice in 10 years, missing 43 games overall, or about four per season on average. Signing him could echo the risky one-year deal with Reddick, who underperformed this year. With a market value around $13.7 million, the Bucks might hesitate on this gamble.
