Tameside Leads Fly-Tipping Fines in North West

0:00On March 6th, TAMESIDE Council issued the most fixed penalty notices for fly tipping in the Northwest last year, with 224 fines handed out in the 2024-2025 period. That's according to the latest figures from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. It's a big jump in enforcement compared to other areas in the region. This marks the second year in a row that TAMESIDE has led the PEC after issuing 236 notices the previous year. Council teams are out daily investigating incidents, clearing waste and running action days with partners and residents to hit problem spots. Local leaders praised the waste enforcement and street cleaning officers for their tireless work, which is making a real difference. Still, they stressed that any fly tipping harms neighborhoods and drains public funds for clean-ups. Officials urge everyone to dispose of waste properly and verify waste carriers. In total, the council gave about 279 notices for all waste issues like littering and fly tipping, the second highest in the Northwest.
