T20 World Cup 2024: A landmark moment for US cricket

About this episode

Join The Cricketer's James Coyne as he gets under the skin of cricket in the US with three very special guests, a player, a fan and a journalist.

The T20 World Cup features 16 matches in the USA, including eight at a pop-up stadium in Long Island. Including the biggest of all India v Pakistan on June 9.

There'll be four games at Lauderhill, Florida, so I've spoken to Mat Dowman of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, about his experience playing in Florida with a PCA Masters team in 2005.

I’ve spoken to one of the most famous American cricket fans, Erik Petersen, about the challenges facing US cricket to take the next step towards becoming a truly mainstream sport.

And we've gone to the ground itself to speak to Tom Blow, a journalist working in New York for the Mirror and the Daily Express  . He bumped into the legendary umpire Steve Bucknor at a club game. He also made the journey out from Manhattan to Long Island to discover what the ICC’s new temporary stadium is like.
