Sydney Marathon Recap and How To Fuel your Running post Marathons
About this episode
It is Never Run Alone.
We’re off the back of the 2026 Sydney Marathon and coming to you with a slightly lesser team than usual. Sissi Bergman is out post her enormous effort pacing on Sunday. Kris is out being a Dad / logistics.
Hosting is Rien lower on energy than usual, but thankfully with the wonderful Grace Liebelt joining Cam to unpack the marathon that was and discussing how to best fuel in preparation and recovery for a race of any kind, really.
We also answer some cracking warm up questions from the audience, as well as a quick word on the goat of BYU’s, Phil Gore.
All that and more with Cam Merrick and Grace Liebelt with host Rien MacDonald.

it is never run alone. Renmax on hold here with Cameron Merrick and Grace Lebel returning to the port after the Sydney marathon. Grace welcome back to never run alone. Thanks so much for happening me on again guys. It's lovely to be here and lots to unpack from Sydney marathon so keen to get into it. So welcome. Very very big weekend. We've got the uh it's one known for the camera that we are official. We've got we did get media passes for uh for that race. Never felt like more already posture in my entire life. Um on the bridge before with just my phone as a camera while all these professional photographers have these even Chris have these crazy point and shoot cameras. Hey man the best cameras the one you have on you all right. Hey true that true that. Anyway I did get some uh get some good content but yes big day I was hard enough on the feet mate. How about you being out there running it your weapon. Yeah I'm still pretty rocked to be honest. I was saying before and I've said it in the last couple of days that it's probably the worst I've pulled up from
a marathon. That was my sixth that I've run in the last three years and I feel a bit under the weather probably didn't eat enough on Monday post-race so we can maybe chat about that with you Grace you know dietitian dietitian of the pot I would say as well. Yeah you know shut shut your dietitian. I'm on it I'm honestly on it. Oh that's great. Now is there is some real life stuff to come which we'll chat about later on in the app but yeah I guess we'll maybe unpack it in in 10 or 15 minutes or so but stoked to have run. Got my medal. We're wearing that after I finished it. I'm wearing his media pass. Cam had his vest stolen though the media vessel maybe not stolen but I took it back. Yeah but Chris kept his and I want mine. I want it. I would have worn on the pod. They're like big bibs yeah like you know in school when you do like touch what do you or something you get those big bibs it's like that but an out version. Yeah like the grade sixes they're then made for the grade
sixes but you're a grade two. Yeah. Yeah. Oh big. Oh big. What number did you get? I think I was 78. Not bad. So yeah not a bad little half time maybe. Love it. Love it. So yeah now we're done. Six marathon's. Yeah number six. Third Sydney. Tell the people what you're time you're on for those who won't win. Third Sydney row well let's unpack it let's unpack it later we'll try to keep some structure but I do appreciate it. We won't make it all about me. No no it's good it's good we're missing it's worth sharing at the top we are missing Chris Fahrenheit and the wonderful Cici Bergman who also ran over the weekend. Cici I think also feeling a bit of the fatigue post marathon and has just said you know I'll see you all next week. I'm going to take this one out so shout out to both of them. Shout out especially to Cici. Chris is just probably what lazy what do we call it down to be far back free. Mountain family. Mountain family is probably more accurate but yeah shout out to him. No doubt he'll be listening. Press it on those photos he took. Yeah just
trying to color grade them figure out how to do that but as always we will run through a few warm-up questions in a moment after we go through a little bit of what we're going to be chatting about here we will obviously be unpacking the Sydney marathon. We are obviously joined by Grace and we're going to be chatting about fuel your race 2.0 which is coming up next week a very exciting thing that we're getting involved in. We've been the pod never run alone as well as unpacking our running week the race obviously happening over the weekend but both of you have a half marathon coming up which is going to be fun hopefully coming in a ticket but more on that to come and then some fun things happening in the world of Australian running and a big big race. I think happening overnight but we'll get into that later that is the line up first things first the warm-up questions you can submit these on Instagram at Never Run Alone during the week and you're also welcome to just DM us anything that you might like to ask I think last week we had someone say
a pronoun say name correctly via voice note so we read that out loud shout out to do you remember the name silker silker silker I'm not going to get the last name I'm just going to give you a silker but shout out to her she sent us through that so that was great I love her there you go sorry if you don't see the question box feel free to DM and we will do our best to accommodate you first question is coming from Jordan Papis the self proclaimed favorite listener he wants to know one word describing how your running is going at the moment I am saying recovering I think I say cool big capital letters could be cooks we could also go with that but I'm just in yeah reset mode having just walking so one word one word I said I got climbing I would say yeah climbing because I think yeah I think it's it's definitely growing and I think this year I
actually bed myself from running a full marathon because in previous years I've just focused on the full marathon and as you know rin and cam takes up a lot of time a lot of effort it's a long time to recover and so I forgot about all the shorter stuff so this year it's all about getting faster building up like a really strong foundation nutritionally like foundationally working on my strength and yeah hoping to rip a marathon next year but yeah keen to do my first half marathon about two years next weekend so yeah climbing climbing unreal I love it cam what's your word grind grind I am in the grind at the moment I feel like if you'd asked me on Tuesday it would have been like they're all down but I've had too too much better on so I'll get to that later on but yeah I am I'm in the thick of it I'm in the grind so I'm channeling the energy right now I love it very very nice good question George hopefully the unpacking of that one word is
encouraging you to share your favorite pod yeah send us your own with some with some friends and yes tell us your own word next week we'd love to know hopefully your own is going well mates next up sissy has submitted a question so I'm gonna read this she said it was given to her by someone else the other day so shout out to whoever that was she wants to know if you were told you'd only have one more year of running left how would you spend it grace are you doing any marathons in your final year of running are you doing ten do you have any any thoughts ten might be excessive well seven minutes I thought two was a lot but it's your last year of running so you might want to get a few more three miles or two come off yeah um I would say I just want to run in as many different places as I could with as many different friends as I could but not necessarily to like race but just to like be running in a new place like exploring um and like running with as with as many of my friends
as possible getting coffee like I think just enjoying running and the active running rather than racing but I would probably put like a couple of apples in that because yeah yeah yeah yeah I agree I think my biggest thing would just be like travel and definitely feeding organizing more runs with people I feel like yeah similar what I just said before but um I feel like compared to Boston where ever like a lot of our mates and friends were in a block and you it was easy to get people out for long runs and other runs like finding this block is a lot more solo and it's a lot more to like self motivating and grind so yeah I would definitely try and do more runs as friends but yeah more travel more um spectacular runs would be my goal for vibes beyond beyond races I think yeah maybe one fast one fast marathon and then I'd just be trying to catch vibes the rest of the year
yeah what would be your one like marathon that you would do if you could do one marathon for your last year breading what would it be my been in york which I'm doing this year I don't know that's probably number one on the list of things I want to do don't make that your wish this is your last marathon yeah my last marathon accidentally bring that into fruition yeah yeah no I think that's I think that's probably the answer during his what do you go yeah I think you've both now that traveling with friends is definitely on there I think a tropical marathon for some reason just like I don't know why but I like just kind of get over my head maybe it was all I can Melbourne I'm back in Melbourne this weekend it was pouring rain today and then the sun came out and I was like nice classic Melbourne day yeah but yeah I reckon like I love when you get to a new place and just going on that like five to ten k run 100% no maps just taking different corners different getting lost and exploring yeah and then knowing or trying to figure out how to get back I think
that's probably the best way don't have unlimited budget though so I can't really just travel the world in my final year running so maybe it's like I spoke to a guy once in a in a former podcast life that I had probably four six years ago now maybe even 2019 he used to he was very well traveled is an Englishman but living in Australia he would on the train take you know the train out to a new station and with his bike get off at the station and ride around that area and just like explore and I think the train stations maybe a bit more spread out than say like a Sydney Metro sort of line and and what we've got here in Melbourne but if you can imagine maybe like the the country stations and he just dry or you know train out to to one location go for a big bike ride stop in a bakery or something and then catch the train home I think I might do that it's a bit more easier on the wallet yeah love it do that's all the major train stations around dollars you're going to see
it back yard before you can see someone else's man it's true it's true can't take it for granted also Brent I can imagine like I can imagine you're doing like a marathon in the Maladayas like running on these like white beach with like these blue wooded and then like at the finish side you get a cocktail and there's like a gazebo that you can just go in line right on front of the ocean that's what I'm looking for you yeah that can be my final marathon after I run a round gelong after catching the v line that we fought nice nice conference with balls yeah love it love it off to the Melodys where my parents had their honeymoon funnily enough so great shout run it back love it again watch out all right great question to sissy's friend whoever put that forward next up Alice underscore runs a marathon wonder when she's running we'll have to you have to let us know when you're running your marathon Alice if you haven't already what was the best sign you saw
on the Sydney marathon course and she wants to know if it lifted you or made you laugh either of you cam you didn't go with a bark bark at me this year right I didn't have a sign I pulled it out yeah I had a couple okay three signs on the go did you have it with you on the bridge media media ago I didn't I didn't point any of the signs out on the bridge I was too busy uh too busy yeah taking photos and just typing people up and um no I got the signs out at Centennial Park I had yeah I had just had barking you got that dog in you obviously just I had the corner for a bit Chris and I were there for a while and yeah it was when you were sort of turning back at 36k going past that um like DJ that was there so there was a bit of tunes and yeah it definitely compared to the half when I had it um there are a lot more people who were just like hurtlocker and didn't have as much energy to give me but I still got a lot of I still got a lot of energy I had another one that said see you with the pub um and then I had one for my girlfriend that said go uh
he said go serve kachowel's uh for for her um kachow kachow anyway it was good very nice of mine but my favorite time I think was uh I saw I think it's like let this be this like something about being the second time you finished today or something like that well something like that that made me laugh but I can't really exactly what anyway which is well the other thing was like the one that I put on my Instagram actually made me laugh it was like if it was easy it'd be your mom that made me laugh that uh that is sad made me laugh yeah that would be my that would be my top one if it was easy it would be a mom look at your mom jokes it's been a while anyway good super mature you guys yeah still got me it's good I saw a video and um I was gonna send it to sissy but I think someone had a sign it said like bark if you had that dog it's like always like random people and then the last one is is sissy going woof at the side I just randomly run scrawling it I was like oh my god this is so good but I'm sure she has like so many people who
send a two have but that's yeah I couldn't get so um when there's a good photo of you I just get like he just he's afraid it's just like it's been ancient wallpaper send it to yeah it's great but it was like ba ba ba ba what love it it's so good yeah but uh that's it's shout out to sissy um I also saw this is shout out to Mimi Blinks but she didn't have a no they did have a sign actually sorry they did have lots of signs because I was with them on Friday night we all made signs together and I'm really well done yeah Rins got Riz I thought that was pretty cool yeah I was never mean like I know what Riz means but how does that even make sense I didn't even see the sign on the course might do she completely I can put it with her I think I see that she had the the I said the custom shirt it said marathon mum yes I was gonna say not a sign but the t-shirt was iconic marathon mum yeah yeah really good stuff also I made a sign for you to Rinn it was Rinn for the win okay did you have that on you because I saw you twice I can't
remember saying it I was cool in the her but I wasn't really yeah to be fair I think to play this yeah I've put in so much effort into hardcore supporting they had about 10 different people that I was that I had on my map for that I was looking for I made 10 different sides or five signs double sided and so like for Charlotte I did char your a star um mag you're the best egg what the heck go back Rinn for the win um Harper spewing I didn't get the win for you after the sign that's what the heck go back that's great no chatchapayte used just all of your own no it was it was all out of here and then I couldn't figure out how to rhyme so for my friend Curtis just said go get him Curtis I didn't rhyme Paul Curtis needs a needs a name that rhymes still made him a sign though so I love that I can't yeah it's a good question I can't remember any like
great ones there's always your classic you know tap to power up or tap for a boost I like that one that I thought of that I might make when I support a marathon which could be Melbourne in a few weeks time it might be like tap to release childhood trauma I just feel like that could work really well because there's a lot of people running from demons and I just ran down I know it's a bit evil but to vancricht the demons vancricht the demons yeah release child the head noise stop the head noise we can work Charlotte man we can riff on it however you like we're riffing live now on the pot that's an interesting one I still think it could work I like it I like it I'm in the last we're going to talk about it later but in the last few year race workshop I asked the question like why do you run and no one said because I'm running from my demons yeah but people don't want to say that in public but they might want to tap they might want to tap the sign how much it's like he's in a tap then say it TBD I'll say how many taps I get on the I saw one guy actually around centennial
with like a full plank of wood like big like thick hard bit of wood that said bark like a dog but I can imagine if you're trying to like smack one of those like he would have gotten tired holding that thing up he was not like cardboard so respect to him for that you know some good questions there we've got a couple others that we might get to during the chat that we're about to jump into but thank you for all who did ask questions but now we will jump into the Sydney Marathon and before we do just go and read you guys some stats here because it was the biggest Sydney marathon to date 36,295 finishes pretty solid because they had what 40,000 sign up so pretty good completion rate 140 countries represented 400,000 estimated spectators out on course one of them had 10 signs can you believe it or not double-sided but still incredible one how many signs were made could come up there that's a good start 20,000 70,000 wow well you're in money 10
well great great five signs five three something up maybe there's 100,000 signs 100,000 five one in four people had a sign on average but there you go workshop that for the next marathon and then three three race records the male record went and both wheelchair records went incredible Adisu Gabbana and I say that right Cam 204 42 for the men Perez-Jupiah Chichier 218 31 for the women and then Daniel Romantich 126 50 and Manuela Shah 142 04 for the wheelies were the winning times an incredible Sydney marathon we got the Aussies as well I should read them out Ali Pascheli first female for the Aussies 228 28 millie Clark and Caitlin Scott second and third and then Andy Buchanan on his return he ran a 210 14 ahead of Tim Vincent and Liam Boodin that was the Aussie champs
nice little bit of prize money for those six Aussies as well but it was a great day out there did you guys see much of the elites come through where you were stationed you would have seen them on the bridge cam yeah I saw everyone come across the bridge which is cool um I saw the the wheelchair is flying I was watching on on my phone as they sort of started like had the stream up because like we could kind of see the chopper over on the other side of North Sydney um and just kind of were watching it and noticed talking like seeing them rip down that hill at North Sydney like they were flying like I think the guy said they were going like 70k 75k's now and I'm like those rows are smooth but like there's also like you know a little pothole there and you are cool yeah also if you all hit that corner you know it's similar times I don't know how those things are maneuvered obviously they'd be pretty good at it but yeah you don't want to be out of control exactly so yeah watch them come across and then um obviously the guys rolled over
big pack of them to start with and then yeah it was kind of saw them around the course uh saw them coming back I missed I didn't get to see pnt time to see them go past the first time but I saw them coming back like 28k saw all the like elite and top guys and then the women start rolling through and then same on the corner heading back down and then yeah didn't say them finish but saw them saw them so the sort of yeah the difference was splinter groups that had sort of emerged so yeah got lots of got lots of great um great visuals of the elites so it was great stuff I loved it love it what about you Grace um yeah I think yeah we were kind of um positioned where the pride kind of party was on Oxford Street as they turned on to the industry I think and we saw them ripping around that corner first and that was like amazing and then when we're in more park we saw them go past twice and again they were just like absolutely flying but I think as well they were all just like so zoned in like they were locked
and loaded and yeah it's like very cool to watch very inspiring um yeah and even those like all of them in the wheelchairs amazing I was just thinking about like how strong their upper body would be and how like I could just never ever do that it just so yeah so incredible yeah it's awesome to watch pretty hectic yeah did you see any of it on course or news or you would just sort of focus on I I saw them coming back along like Kensington so they would have been at maybe like the 26 27 came up and I'm I don't know maybe at this 16 17 18ish spot that's when I started to see them so yeah they were on truly ahead naturally um didn't see Andy I didn't see like the top Aussies I actually I might have seen Liam and Tim with Tom DeCanto's with them Tom yeah I saw him I saw the three them together um and then I saw Ned shortly after that um with obviously a bit of a decent pack but yeah missed missed the main pack I think when I was
sort of going on that random little out bit that you do um in between the golf courses yeah so that was yeah a little bit unfortunate but whatever but yeah it was it was cool to see you're obviously in a huge pack in the in the hurt locker and then the the elites you know struggled out along just come flying past so it's always cool to say and I think I feel like relatively unique like I haven't seen that in a lot of the races that I've done like Gold Coast I remember seeing them um you know New York you don't really see the elites at all because it's just pretty much an out um straight point to point race boss and absolutely no chance so yeah it is it is cool in that regard uh yeah yeah I think um it was interesting I mean I think I said a last week in the pod that I thought I mean I jeb cheats you for the women was going to be probably a class above and was but the guy I was like the guys race is going to be pretty tight I was interested to see how tight it was and like it was it was a pack of like eight or seven or eight
it felt like when I saw them at 30 and then like when they were coming back at 36 like the guy who won maybe had five meters and they're as some like a well maybe 10 meters and like the big group in them were behind and I was just like this is going to be like a pretty cool finish and I think it was all like the only one by about 30 meters um and then you know Chris was saying there was a sprint finish for third I think it was like I would not want to be sprinting down that that hill with dead legs like even at the end of city of surf going around that corner with kind of you know you try to turn like bit of jelly legs like trying to sprint is not easy on the downhill let alone um let alone with the legs that are like jelly so yeah amazing I think that probably also pushed um the course record as well you know having a having a pack like that and it not break out not not yes sort of breaking just have one guy out in front and doing a bit of time trial um see yeah amazing watching yeah really cool to see them off the rip um and yeah like you said
the Aussies the top Aussies sort of and he was obviously probably a bit of a class above but um yeah watching Tim Vincent Lee and Boone Tom DeCanto sort of role as as the the next sort of packet-threaters call to see them battling um and then yeah Ned and and uh um that sort of 221 ish group I think Steve McKenna was pacing them which is pretty cool until the role is ankle I don't know if you saw that video of him role is it because you finished like a 226 which last year like 218 across the street female last year well he was so he was pacing I think he was pacing like a 221 was his goal in the build up to Melbourne um he that's his sort of a race but he got to like 30 29 as he sort of going past the S.A.G. to head into CP and there's a video front on and you see him role is ankle and hit the deck and um almost took out the whole pack um but yeah they kind of kept rolling yeah yeah him um Ned uh Madman will will Maasen who run a
a great 221 30 something so yeah um yeah it was a bit crazy time and then obviously the women as well um Izzy Bart was pacing the I think the lead women and then they would be a bit too hot for what she wanted so she had to kind of turn around and see who there's obviously that photo of her in the rocks like turning around and looking back and seeing the next wave of girl like women come by yeah yeah so she was so she was so she was she was supposed to be pacing the the first female pack and then did she end up pacing the second is that what happened yeah I think she dropped back and then they're like she's like I'll pace them because they went out the the lead group went faster than she was you know tasked to do um yeah so yeah she she's like kind of let them go and then there's a video yeah photo of her like turning around as like around the corner like the next wave of um the next chase groups of the cons which is pretty cool uh and then yeah there was like no Madman you know Tepo Reno if you remember him I think he was pacing yeah he was
with yeah I think he was pacing captain Scott maybe I'll be really clock okay one of those two so yeah really really cool really really cool so amazing to see you know the lead men's and women's getting after it was awesome absolutely big day out there for a lot of our mates running sissy paste back bridge monahan is that is that a last thing I said that right back when you learn yep she um yeah four ten big day on course for us but a great great time great effort no doubt from back I think it was a sixth marathon so yeah I saw them coming down there down the main hill looking like they were having a lot of fun um there was some there was some good pee bees for different people out there I know people who's trying to hang in from from different injuries coming back to different things um so yeah glorious glorious day I didn't feel like the weather was too hot on course but you mentioned before grace that you sort of maybe felt like it was um I don't
yeah to be better I think yeah definitely by the end I think like I think probably for you been sub sub two sub three hour marathon runner I think you were probably fine but I think the hour after it they really got the front of it like the the sun was was bitey for sure yeah yeah yeah for sure I would agree yeah yeah my technique of just dumping water on the hair every time I ran through a the relay session just keeps me cool just keeps me I mean it looks like I'm just sweating like anything but it's just water just straight on the head every time so good I um I have to shout out to um Megan Chackel because she she was in Bali the week before got a chest infection bronchitis ran a pee bee marathon holding a puffer in her hand she ran a 247 like crazy stuff running with the puffer that's wild running with the puffer just in case yeah and every time I saw her she was like so lazy the focus she was in the zone um looking so smooth
so yeah big shout out to her nice love that love that and make talk us for your day what was the talk of truth when to start to the uh to the 250 set 250 five wasn't it 25 yeah thank you so yeah I mean the day started with a 330 wake up after watching the days lose to Carlton I watched up until three quarter time the night before I was getting more riled up about watching that then I was getting nervous about the marathon so went to bed to try to get about six hours sleep wish I did get and then had a terrible time with DD trying to get you know a car across to North Sydney oval at that time of the morning no one would accept the fair and so I had to change the route to take me to like Hyde Park essentially like Martin Place Station and then when I was in the car I was like hey mate I'm gonna change the address to North Sydney oval you call he's like yeah yeah and I had to convince him to go under the tunnel so already a bit of you know yeah
rocky start to the morning but we got there and the reason I was getting there so early because I had to pick up some media regret to do some filming for Andy not that I was gonna be on the camera necessarily but got that media regret took it to one of the guys that was filming and then walked back up and then found myself I won't share in detail how but found myself in the VIP area right next to where the elites were and where a bunch of you know VIPs were so I was able to film a bit of Andy warming up and other elites obviously all the elites were there and sort of got announced on to course right at the start of the start line saw the start of the wheelchair race then filmed the start of the race and that was also the way that I was meant to be in 1A so quickly did like a 4 minute warm up and then just got into it so definitely not ideal very much not what I recommend to anyone doing I did do a few like you know things before I
actually did that 4 5 minute warm up in the carol that was at that point pretty much empty and then there was no people being walked up by officials but I guess I just know my body now and I know what I can do not that I was like I mean I was pretty confident that I could go sub 3 but it wasn't like a full gone conclusion and I guess yet just having run Boston earlier this year 257 on not much training I just know the output that I need to do and whilst I was sort of thinking I'd try to negative split didn't really work that way my my output of energy definitely increased as the race went on but my pace pretty well stayed the same which is pretty pretty cool I think I was like a 409 average in the end 408 maybe average pace and other than the first 5Ks which I ran it a 4 minute average everything else was pretty pretty even split so classic going out too hot that first 2 kilometers I think pretty much all downhill on the Harbour Bridge is hard yeah you cruise I
mean it was just a good warm up in a way but you just with so many people that you can't not sort of move at that pace so I ended up going with the next wave that came through um and yeah it was great it was a great day seeing new boys on the bridge calm Chris one of the boys that was shooting for Andy charred to Jamie met him you know at 4 30 in the morning he was on the line bike buzzing gave him the media cred and gave him his vest and then off he went like your boys there and then yeah just as the race went on you know seeing different people running having little chats as I went past like Montana went past Brady who was out there as well the other Brady so like there were just moments as you went across the course where I just sort of have little charts checking with people I saw Ella and Bailey at like the maybe 12k mark through the city through Martin Place and had just put a couple of water in my mouth and then they
screamed at me and I just spat it straight out and just 90 degree angle across course and just like jumped on them for like a second or two and then kept running that was a lot of fun so yeah there was just lots of moments like that was not in the pain cave until probably like the 28k mark um when you sort of coming back to more park but wasn't anything like I'd experienced like last year in terms of you and me cam going out trying to run a sub 240 and being cooked like 2k's in and just being like this is going to be a rough day so obviously going a lot slower helps but yeah I think just taking confidence from like having run it the last two years and knowing my body and knowing where I'm at um it helps and one thing that I've said to a few people which again I wouldn't recommend it and I think it's fair to say like the long run each week is probably the most important run coming into a marathon but I've only run 30k's or more three times this year
one of those was a week before Boston and then other two times was Boston Marathon and City Marathon so I stupid as that sounds and again I don't recommend that but it's just a residual fitness where I'm at I just I'm excited to like yeah put some work in over the next 12 months I love what you said before grace about putting a ban on yourself of running a marathon for a year I reckon I want to continue doing the Sydney marathon each year so next year will be the fourth in a row so if I can get a ticket I'd love to do that again but I reckon that might be my next marathon and I just get some good blocks of training in target some shorter races we've talked about a lot over the past you know five to six weeks on the pod but yeah I'm excited to to actually do a proper block of training in the lead up to the next marathon because they are so special and crossing the finish line taking it in you know again seeing people closer to the finish line later on I saw Chris coming past Hyde Park he was taking a few photos I look horrendous in the photos but I
didn't feel that bad but it's just funny like you know my headband probably at the start of the race was nice and snug and then by a great photo across the bridge to be fair yeah that's awesome but like you're fresh there right but then at 38k's the headbands moving all over the place I'm like wet from head to toe and I'm I've run 38 confidence like what do you expect to look like obviously yeah I feel like anybody would like not be in their best shape but yeah confidence so totally that's the point and I knew that like miss McCarrie's chair is like right there like I'm about to hit some nice undulation which by the way that hill just passed the museum that little down that is tough 39 40 odd case in your marathon that is it's harder than going back up a hill just do yeah it's that way that way I think is actually easier in the sense that like compared to Hocka where you go you got that you got to have to go up that really sharp bit like that bit is like at the very end of a racist shot whereas the other side of miss McCorie is hard but it's more gradual
up but yeah that down hill bit that's deep it is the hardest part yeah yeah but no was able to take in the finish line it was a great day cramped at the finish line didn't cramp any earlier happy days can take it perfect time what a day yeah 255 13 was the time two seconds slower than aliburikans Boston time which she was very happy to let me know when I saw the pub that is you I was later and my excuse was I intentionally stopped toward the end and did these ones like spirit fingers to the clock which was counting closer to three hours as I got to it so anyway I'll take I'll take the L to Buddha shout out to Ella she might be listening she started listening to the pot again which is nice oh beautiful stuff I've got a shout I've also got to shout out we need to do a few minutes on this yeah I got a shout out so you got to shout out so
how consistent was your girlfriend yeah smoked it um yeah I was she she started it like an hour behind because she was in like one of the later ways but yeah I was just watching I think she went out with the four hour pace her a bit and then kind of peaked it up a little bit but yeah we're just running on vibes and effort the whole way and and kind of held back on certain spots and just basically round like a perfectly even split race like I think her five case splits on the app were I think the biggest deviants across the all of them was like three seconds pace there's like three three sorry five thirty eight or five thirty nine to like five forty one like on average so in credit it was just for debut for a debut marathon it's wild yeah um so I was on the bridge obviously and then I was trying to get to Centennial Park and I got to Centennial Park and so I much will come through and then I completely missed her
coming by the first time I think she was on the other side of the road and I just like just I was like on my phone I had phimile like I was I knew where she like she was coming and I like just full road like I could not see I was like I'm like looking and looking and looking and then I checked my phone I might not she's trying to put me down the road like gone so I missed her there but then on the other way um when she's coming back around the corner saw her there gave her a kiss she was like my legs are sore and I was like yep they're meant to be but she uh you've run all the way here yeah but she she crushed it and then yeah it went round at a sore again at thirty six and then I as soon as I saw her I went straight onto a line bike gunned it down the back street it's got to hide park had to had a parking debacle with a line bike just like he couldn't park it in certain spots so I like parked it wherever I could eventually ran with a backpack saw her coming up literally coming up miserable close chair and then sprinted across the diagonal to get to the last sort of 500 meters and they saw her like
you know like a few minutes later from where I just in her going down the hill and then found her again but yeah she crushed it 357 first uh first marathon in the books um very very proud of her so she um she crushed it got a shout out all her friends as well across the course I think she had said she had a few people who were like you know similar shout out Rich Horton levitating around the course you just seems like they're everywhere no no we're like similar to him because I do say Rich this year but yeah shout out to Rich Horton what a man I think there are I think her friend Matilda she said got best on um got a shout out she listened to the pod last week she told me after so I got to get I got over the shout out said she uh so so said she uh yeah it was like she was just you know teleporting around the course so amazing stuff shout out to all the supporters of everyone but yeah um amazing to follow her and and very proud to see her crush a block work really hard and then execute it so she's proud of herself and proud of
her so she crushed it got a shout out love to hear the mothons they're fantastic yeah I mean I'm feeling terrible now I said to you both before I just this is definitely the worst I've pulled up and even though I've just talked about you know 255 on minimal training I'm definitely paying for it I don't think I ate enough the day after um so that's definitely something that you can maybe talk to in a moment grace but yeah maybe good segue my sixth marathon yeah it's by far the worst I remember running New York in 2024 and like three days later did a track session which I don't know how I did like thinking back crazy the time something like said it was crazy yeah something like a six by 400 and a few 800s thrown in like just stupid would not recommend male yeah yeah yeah dumb um anyway feel terrible now feel like we've been hit by bus and it's Friday tomorrow so hopefully I can get a run in at some point and just shake the legs out but otherwise I walked six kilometers today and that was nice my three phone calls beautiful either of you gonna run either of you
gonna run Sydney next year do you think maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe I yeah I see that the ballot is opening on September 29th on Monday so maybe can we throw our hat into the ring yeah we'll see how we go it'll be the day after my birthday next year so maybe that's a nice sort of way to celebrate anyway we'll say that'll be a next year decision yeah next year we might need to decide in four weeks but yeah we might be able to get some tickets a little bit closer to finish a canary can Merrick he's getting that fast ladies and gentlemen he can basically do what everyone's also got to quickly shout out you the the YouTube but maybe we talked that talk about that later that was funny but we'll come onto that you did mention before it was a good segue and I completely took us in a different direction but the reason a big reason why we've got you on tonight graces because next week there is fuel your race 2.0 we've had you on multiple times to talk about fueling and and diet in the past but this is a very exciting thing in the
second version and the pod is somewhat getting involved so take it away tell the people tell us remind us what it is next week what do we yeah yeah what are we in for well we're in for a treat and I think it was very I think these this fuel your race series is something that I have been working on and thinking about for a long time and to be honest I think it did kind of start way back to last year when I did have my big injury when I fractured my sacrum and I came on the pod with you guys and talking through nutrition I guess how important it is but then also you know talking through you know the second episode we did about the under fueling epidemic and how there is so much noise out there and there's so much information but it's always really hard to decipher which is worth listening to and I think with this fuel your race workshop series I really wanted to bring credible information from experts to to an audience of runners in a room where we
can discuss our shared experiences things that we've found challenging things that we'd like to work on and kind of empower each other through through the power of knowledge I guess and the first sort of fuel your race workshop that we did was solely nutrition based so it was yeah basically the foundations of mouth on nutrition and that was basically me talking at an audience for about 45 minutes basically about all the nutrition basics regarding like energy and why we need to fuel our body like we fuel the car fuel and the car and then I guess what our diet looks like and what's what are those important nutrients for fueling your runs all the way through to carb loading you know what does race week and race day nutrition look like why is recovery nutrition important and then also about the long run so looking at those nutrient gaps and why they're important to be filling them and also long-term considerations like your bone health and I think this kind of series I wanted
to do the second fuel your race 2.0 I really wanted to bring more of holistic approach so bringing in more different perspectives and experts from around the running space to being a room together and have a big discussion answering all the questions that runners have regarding you know whether it's nutrition or you know mental training or physical training table week and be able to I guess yeah have that shared discussion and and share experiences and do it in like a real intimate kind of setting which is super relaxed and also like you're in someone's living room and I think you guys have always you know played such a big role in lots of people's labs about being on the podcast every single week and being in other people's living rooms or wherever they're kind of listening to the pod and I thought it would be yeah such a treat to have you guys on and maybe a more of a full circle moment um having you guys there and I think it was very staring at the fitness where it all began because you know the idea kind of was sprung upon you when I randomly ran into the day
before um cities surf off the street when we're both doing a long run halfway through 10Ks in 10k to go running to you guys then start chatting chatting your era ran you'd only flying in for the weekend didn't expect to be there and it was like the best surprise ever and I think yeah I was so grateful that when I kind of shared this idea with you guys you guys jumped on it like straight away and um yeah I'm just yeah really grateful to have you guys on board and so excited to to share this event with all of our guests and runners out there hmm love that very very well said hard to hard to add to that but I guess I will say and I would be sure to put those past episodes in the description of this episode that everyone's listening to now but yeah that's going to be happening next Thursday right so in person event yeah you can buy tickets will link that as well um but obviously if there's people that can't make it for every reason because we do have people listening I personally won't be there but I think Cam sissy and Chris will all be there in person
I've just had a few too many trips um outside of Melbourne this year so I'm going to be staying put but you've got the best three of the pod list let's be real I clearly clearly need to listen to it um but uh yeah I'll I'll be doing that after the fact because we will be recording it it will go out as well as an episode on Never On Alone which we're very excited about but yeah super stoked like you said the serendipity of just running into you and and you bringing it up very very grateful that you consider us to be part of it so yeah love what you do and love to be able to support it and I think as well yeah so this next workshop lack we're saying is also we have an expert panel on board and I just want to shout out our amazing experts who will be jumping on board we have Maddie Able obviously from the run coaching kind of background supported lots of amazing athletes um through their running careers so I thought that he'd bring a really good kind of physical training aspect of knowledge to um to our workshop um we've got Holly Mills ex-com games
athlete and also marathon runner as well she ran on the weekend and she's just yeah I don't know if anyone follow us on Instagram but she's hilarious yeah and on the pod as well yeah and on the pod as well we also have had Maddie on the pod should yeah yeah and I think she just has a really real kind of perspective on what it's like and um coming from someone who's um competing at that elite level it's really cool to have her on board and we've got Holly I was psychologist so talking through like reducing stress and anxiety around race time um which I think is super important just like you feel your body with food you feel your your mind with um you know positive thoughts and visualisation and all that kind of stuff so I think that'd be really good um and then who else is going for the pod really? Cam it's in the next yes yeah Cam and sister you're obviously yeah yeah are amazing after what is the app a bit about throughout two sets in the mix both coach by Maddie able to it's worth noting yeah oh yeah yeah yeah but I think um yeah you guys always bring like such good energy and always
ask the best question so I think it'll be yeah really good a really good pod um but yeah so that's that's good maybe give me the details if I want to buy a ticket it's next next Thursday yeah the ninth 10th 10th 10th in September yeah 10th doors open at six and then will there'll be a light dinner that will be catering with grams of health so menu all created by us and I'm planning a surprise table skate because I have a background in catering so you'll see that on the net we also have lots of amazing sponsors so we've got true protein, yo pro recovery you've got a free recovery pass um we've got Olsen salt, magnesium sprays we've got yeah a whole bunch of goodies to take home as well so we're really grateful for our sponsors everyone who's um yeah I guess going to be a part of the event and we also have um Sam Olsmo from unofficial who is going to be writing a poem for us which will kind of give us some words of wisdom for everyone to take home so it'll be yeah a nice
kind of collaborative event and yeah wonderful evening to be a part of so if you're free and not Thursday you should go along get your tickets game first maybe it's the first live body might be able to come and see there you go there you go great stuff very excited we'll put what put to your details in the show notes that's it that's it people listening this pot will be out on Friday so you'll have six days really from if you're listening to it on the Friday but yeah most people I think probably listen a day or two later so get on it ASAP tickets may already be gone by the time you listen to this so pause the pod go click that link stop your long run pause your watch pull over whatever whatever you're doing tell mum to stop talking I mean you listen to the pod so your mum shouldn't be talking to you anyway um I'll shut up for a moment that all sounds great um what's next we want to talk about our running of of y'all to about mine quite a bit I might just park myself for a moment grace you are running a half marathon next week tell the people
how's your running beat and how excited are you to be back racing um yeah it's going really well it's going really well um yeah like I was saying I'm just kind of using this year to gradually build up my kind of fitness and get back into racing um which is really nice and I think I'm really prioritizing this year on like strength recovery feeling and just enjoying running so I did have some goals in mind so because I was so focused the last few years on marathon training didn't really get to the shortest stuff so I really wanted to get a 5k PB at 10 k PB and a half PB and back in I think it was June or May I got a 5k PB I ran with Grace tame was paced by Cam in Centennial Park it was a 1745 which was a 30 second PB for me last time I did that a 5k race was like at the track and I'd laid in like 2022 so I was very happy with that so thanks Cam could us to you that's a great time can we just pause though for a second what's your marathon PB
like you at 248 that's crazy that your 5k up until then was 18 15 and your marathon PB is a 248 like that's yeah you're an absolute animal that's so impressive yeah we're shouting that out anyway congrats on the new new 5k PB as well thank you and yeah I took top my second so that was my first PB second PB was the harbour 10k which I warmed up with Cam in maybe there's an underline trend here the modest touch watch out but I also got a PB at the harbour 10k that was a 36 oh what was that 36 maybe 3645 as well it was definitely in yeah I think something 30 something which is great so my previous time was a 37 something so we're super happy with that ran with Ellibuticant so
shout out to that girlie she did so yeah Mrs of the pod yeah yeah yeah and yeah it was such like such a beautiful day was that was like the first kind of proper race they're done since I fractured my back so that was like really I was just so so grateful to be out there and loved to be back out racing very grateful and yeah third race coming up next weekend Sydney half marathon or the new South Wales state championship is that correct again yeah yeah yeah it's called the Sydney half some of that but yes doubles as an easy well state championships yeah so we got that got that next weekend so we'll just see how we go um running hasn't been great this week I felt it would be like flat and tired so we'll see how we go but I've also got um the Nike after dark um and as September I've got the half the ten no sorry the Nike no sorry the Melbourne map the Melbourne 10k in October and then hopefully Queenstown half marathon in November whoa see oh
we're about to Queenstown so bad yeah and you'll be in Melbourne that's exciting I forgot about yeah yeah yeah yeah it's gonna be a fun weekend guys and I'm excited because the 10k is on the Saturday so then I can watch everyone do and chair everyone on for the half and that's all on the Sunday so that'd be lovely very very nice and it's climbing right was your word that you said I mean climbing it's climbing yeah just try not to put too much pressure on it just really enjoy it but I'd stuff well the man who's grinding has your last week been you on Sunday after I think was it Saturday I can't remember maybe it was Sunday you you went out on a run in the afternoon after being up very early and sporting your girlfriend supporting everyone out there a few few signs as we've mentioned you went in an hour on Sunday you just built it right like an hour 20 it was very very that was a grind that was that noisy that was my watch died at 14k and I was like
fuck this like I was yeah what even is I just wanted to go that I just wanted to go the pub everyone was already there I left the pub I've had two beers I left to go home change I had some macas a half duck satan eaten had macas on the train home ate that and then ran 16 in a half k I felt atrocious and then then met back people back out of the pub and had to get the work the working it was probably the only time I could go to the pub and running gear and look appropriate so this was straight out but yeah did I did I think it was 133 last week and probably I don't know how many steps on feet in that morning but um and then yeah this week has been real grindy I did a session on Monday and it really um was super tough did not go well uh probably again probably after the big day I had had before at the marathon um but Monday morning first thing trying to rip a session maybe wasn't the move but that was it was in the plan um
so yeah just had a session wasn't really able to hold pace like I wanted to legs felt like concrete etc etc I did some hill reps after that they were okay but yeah it was really tough got through the rest of that day that around Tuesday and my again I don't know if I was like I just I'd done my shoes up too tightly or something but my leg was just like a real sore while running and it was like bothering me um and basically what I think it is and like what what kind of what I know it is is like I'd probably done a bit too much intensity back to back to back I've done a lot of sort of sharp sessions and in carbons and things like that so all that combined with just you know running in general um and ramping up my I know it was also sort of like a longer time since I've had any treatment my like calf lower part of my calf and like in basically on the inside of your shin that bit was really tight and it was just giving me like a bit of like an achy pain which leads you always down the head noise rabbit hole of have I go
to stressy um which I don't but it you know I'm like you know you have the spiral for 45 minutes while you're on a run um but anyway basically dialed a back have run easy the rest of this week which has been nice had to really nice runs last night and tonight after work in the same error and roads um it's sunset and sort of picked the pace up a bit kind of decided I've been running like pretty easy just kind of picked it up a little bit and ran a bit like a steady and it was yeah just nice to feel bit of popping the leg so I think we're at 78k for the week or something like that and we'll get to about 140 and I'm meant to be trying to do that half marathon next week as well I'm trying to get myself a ticket last minute so so anyone else is fun to be selling well if you know somebody works at the the these are athletics that might be my only way in anyway we'll see how we go hope I gotta be there because I gotta get I gotta be there for the third pb uh for grace yeah absolutely yeah I don't think I can do it without you can so yeah
yeah you'll have to warm up so anyway that's the story we're building we're eight and a half weeks out from New York so yeah we are in the grind in the grind of it it's a mental grind but it is what is I like it mate you'll get that ticket I have no doubt grace will get a third pb of the year it'll be great looking forwards to hearing all about it in a couple of weeks time great stuff I've already waffled enough as I mentioned hope they'll get a run in this weekend whether it's five days or whether it's a bit more I think it's tomorrow night camp or maybe it's Friday night um over in Belgium dinan league yeah finals men's 1500 has an incredible lineup yeah it's kind of the biggest the biggest race they've had of it in a while um it's basically just like the Olympic final again outside of having the only one missing is Josh Kerr who broke the mile record obviously but you we took the the next probably seven guys in the world of that distance um they're all there
so that's pretty cool cold hawker inga brits and cammiers yarrah niggurus like it's the train everyone die malay like two weeks ago so it's going to be pretty cool so yeah just can't see the die malay backspan I feel like I feel like it's been a couple weeks without some big run so looking forward to that um but yeah just wanted to call that one out as probably the premiere race this year in the fifth and under it uh in the middle of distance so it's kind of been building to that so that's gonna be fun um and maybe we touched briefly on field goal we spoke about in last week getting after the backyard ultra well world record what do you want to call it yeah zone record I mean going for the record going for the record he's already got the record but going for an unofficial record he was trying to get 168 hours 168 loops that's a full week of running and incredibly got to 152 loops before calling it so didn't quite get there but still a record of what's that 33 laps um you know PB personal PB uh it won't count in any of these races moving forward
but it just goes to show you know he I think finished that 119 whenever it was a bit over a year ago now and was able to go and run the last lap quite quick I think he ran maybe like a 430 pace per kilometer and then ran like a sub 20 minute park run that following Saturday so he had more in the tank he had 33 laps more in the tank seemingly um they're all there about so didn't quite get the seven days but it'll be interesting to see where I guess this format of running goes to from here um I think there's some really like exciting times for it I feel like there's probably a lot of runners around the world who are untapped and don't know they can be quite as good not necessarily as feel go but just in in the running world in this format you know it is obviously hard to run flat out you know marathons and these sorts of things but this thing where you running I think it's 4.1 miles 6.7 kilometer loops on the hour every hour and essentially ultra running um it's a
different beast so shout out to Phil Gore but I do think it's going to bring more men and women out of the woodwork you know because he's only getting more notoriety from it we're here talking about it there's going to be more people talking about it and sharing it so yeah exciting stuff well done to the goat Phil Gore yeah he's uh Strava he Strava post was so funny it was just like morning run um it's like 1778 kilometers yeah well that was a 75 kilometers he's he Strava graphs hilarious because all the blips are like look like they're tiny but it's like they're like 150 140 150 and then it's like 1,100 in one week so yeah crazy crazy anyway shout out to him seriously crazy yeah 1,019 is 50 152 loops but then the Strava activity has him at like 60 or 55 kilometers more which I guess is just him not running it's just him around like the cooldown area like where he's sleeping imagine
it's not gonna be long right like you never know right right totally but like 55K's over what he needed to run just on the Strava activity alone is crazy like there's a marathon like it's mental um over the week absolute absolute weapon um before we get into bicell grace dietician um you've just sort of mentioned they're just shout out to people who post marathon I've called myself out not refueling properly and just the importance of that I think is probably best to let you speak to that so over you yeah I think um like you said when you know a lot of people don't really feel like eating straight after a marathon and it can be hard to refuel particularly after your long runs um I would say that in that kind of period straight after you run a marathon and any long run or any run in general um but particularly like that that day the rest of that day and also the week that's like the perfect time to refuel and carb loading before is amazing doesn't mean you have
to stop at the race I would say keep going and prioritize your protein your omega-3s to reduce inflammation um to protein to promote muscle recovery and carbs just to help replenish what you've lost but I think how I like to think about it is like your nutrition before during after your runs it's kind of like the bubble wrap that keeps like your bones and your structural integrity together it's like if your structural integrity or your bones were a vase like a ceramic vase and before sending it to you know wherever you're going you you wrap it in bubble wrap to stop it from breaking so I think if we think about it like that when we're fueling um and it might not always be the easiest way to do it but if we can even you know get in that that chunky milk straight after or anything that is super easy quick and easy convenient um that you can pallet and I think practicing that after your long runs um can make it a lot easier to tolerate it on race day because it's a lot of stress that you put your body under um so you want to make sure that you're giving it
the fuel it needs to rip another marathon further down the track because the less you feel now the longer it'll take you to recover so that's my little bit of nutrition input bubble wrap your runs love that algae on that before we get to the bicell again I just feel like the post-race I know you two didn't run but what they gave you silly Mara it just missed the mark again this year um so there's one thing that was in the bag that I can't remember but it certainly wasn't like like the water a parrot in apple something was water parade an apple and I think a four thing but I can't remember because I was made in blue bits illusional but like I ate the apple pretty quickly because I needed something and I had that parade very quickly and the ladies that were handing them out the guys and you know like they were happy to give me I did grab an up and go on the way and I had that but like I just reckon there can be something else I think well I think they might have had
a musely bar as well but like I'm pretty sure that these brands you know parade sponsoring the marathon croncola like that's going in the bag for free like Sydney marathon is buying 40 000 things surely you might need to buy the fruit but like we can get surely some brands who will throw their stuff at it to get some fuel in I think as a major marathon it could be a lot better um you know there's obviously it's a warm day in in Sydney so we don't necessarily need anything to keep us warm but you know some of these other marathons are giving out lots of these things I think the metal is sick and maybe a lot of the budget's going on that like it's a very heavy metal and I know they fucked the uh the alia stadium which I still think is a cool thing like who cares they owned they owned that on socials like fair play it's a mistake maybe that person will never do the design again but overall cool metal to be that person you know they're talking about it though you'd hate to be that person ready to go to the office like uh I thought I
thought I checked it one job you got one job for the whole year one marathon pretty sure they're all in order as well of like where you go like probably to ride and then it's like probably what's this big thing over here oh do you just imagine how many checks I have to go through before that yeah crazy but like let's get some let's get some more stuff I asked for the watermelon last year I realized that go goes has a way more go cost has like free go everywhere like you can stop and just eat things the golecast it's crazy yeah so let's up the level next year Sydney marathon um cool buy cell shall we jump into it grace you got one um you guys go first we'll go first yeah can you have a buy or sell or do you already go I do no I can go I go I'm gonna buy um I'm gonna buy running in in like new locations it at the kind of sunset e vibes like I don't know chasing vibes is what I want to kind of call it like I ran around near my work I've been in the office
every day this week vlog episode perhaps chasing vibes yes the five chase the week's fun and the five chase it wonder lost baby um no um I've been in the office every day this week and it's like it's been a bit of a grind but um the part of that is that I'm like running a different route to what I didn't run all around every day which was nice and yeah last night I just went out it's been beautiful weather here like it's like it's been a little little warm for my liking but for most people it's been perfect spring with her um and at night it's just been like clear skies beautiful sunset I've been down at like roads sort of uh home bush bay area and it's just like beautiful like on the water sunset in golden sky clear and just yeah it's just like for after a few like pretty average runs in a row like it was it definitely made me just be like like like chuck some tunes on sunset run by the water like flow state it just yeah it really felt
like I was like yeah I'm back all right this is why this is why I run stuff like this so hit the spot I chased the feeling again tonight it was still still good um last night was better but still a little top hoods yeah chase the feeling baby um so yeah just you know that's the way to do it that's the way to do it I love it there's something about the changing of the seasons hey like when when spring starts to oh it's just the grass the yeah flowers the trees yeah every month fit more happier yeah yeah yeah be warm than the air that's the even Melbourne is brought up like 630 it's crazy yeah so anyway so yeah I'm back after that I'm back maybe it was also because my cough didn't hurt so that definitely helps there you go you didn't have to drink two beers before running probably sure sure sure after the got christ yeah different kind of carpet after this will be all right I guess but yeah crazy nice one mate goodbye uh my bye this week little story if you know what I'm indulged me so going back to going back to Boston
marathon uh April this year I decided to wear my Melbourne demons singlets which I also wore this past weekend in Sydney uh go days we got knocked out of the finals but that's okay but I wore it over in Boston and in the carol I just entered the carol I'm with car not with you cam sorry with Chris and sissy and a guy walking past goes go days to me nicknamed the club you know short short short hand days I was like oh Aussie yep turns out he's good mates with one of the players that plays for the days and this guy's name is William McKinnis some essentially buying will McKinnis now a shout out to Will he is currently attempting to be the first oh no sorry not the first the youngest Australian to run all seven majors in a year in the calendar year so he ran Boston that was the second um he had run Tokyo prior to that so he ran sub three in Boston he then ran
London like a week later or less than a week later six days later um he ran three oh one there he just knocked under the three in Boston but then his next one was Sydney over the weekend and this is where it gets even more serendipitous because not only is he like good mates with a player who plays in the midfield for the days jack still shout out to jack but he runs Sydney in a 244 17 which for long time listeners of the pod is my exact time that I ran last year I think that is absolutely mental like he wouldn't have probably even known that that was my time because I don't think I've got like necessarily published on my my instagram or anywhere obviously you could look it up but like you can't even try to run in exact time like this is just crazy so he's bumped into me in Boston we ran pretty much the most the way together in Boston um and then he's gone and ripped 244 17 uh on the weekend which is an incredible time to run uh I had a look at his
travel like running like consistently 80 to 90 k weeks over the last three months so the man is putting some work I'm excited to see what he does in Berlin in a couple of weeks time now what three weeks time until Berlin marathon um and then he's only got a few more weeks till Chicago and then New York to see it out like it's gonna be a busy end to the year for him um but shout out we'll be honest go on for the youngest Aussie everyone run all seven majors see if he can be 244 17 over the next three maraths great time just quietly dog there you go that's my boy thank you for your time with Ren love that there you go bring your same grace my bye um thank you for giving me the time as well I just needed to think mine a little bit through a little bit more um but I'm you might double-sided cardboard you need some more room in anytime um but my by um this episode is to not underestimate how far you've come and I feel like we can always get stuck like in the day
today of running in like the grind um or the climb or whatever we we call it and whatever block we're in and it's um I think it's really easy to skip and forget how far you've come and how much you've grown and how much you've built up until this point so I think it's always good to have that reminder and that self-reflection of like wow this is where I was a year ago and I think I've been really feeling that recently because yeah would it be a year ago well yeah just over a year ago that I was like still on crutches when I was on yeah when I had my my fractures so yeah feeling really grateful and I do want to share a quick stroke for we close but um when I've started in turning up as a dietician at the Sydney Swans and on my first day I forget like because I've been running for a while obviously I know that I'm like I'm I'm I like running them like good at it for my age but I forget anyways so I was introduced to the Sydney Swans by the the head the head
perform the high performance coach um Shane and he kind of introduced me to the whole team like after training and it was like guys I just want to um introduce a new dietician who's going to be working with us this is great she's a talented dietician and also a very um experienced runner marathon runner as well um and Grace would you like to share a good one you're your best marathon time and I was like can it say me little me like what everyone's like looking at me it's like oh yeah it's just a two four two forty eight and all of them will like whoa standing ovation from the whole Sydney Swans. Yeah good. I was like I said to Adi who's a dietician I was like did that just happen it's just like yeah cool. So yeah I think never underestimate how far you can reflect and be grateful for my love. Well you don't see it buddy. Great start.
